1 out of 5 eggsFailure

Pros: None

Cons: Drive died just less that a year in use.

Other Thoughts: I recommend a different manufacture for a SSD drive. I have had great luck with their RAM though.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid at all costs.

Pros: none.

Cons: I bought this on January 19, 2013. I had had a string of bad western digital hard drives and, with my brand-faith in WD completely shattered, decided to try something new. i had heard plenty of good things about SSDs so i decided to make the plunge.

Last night, i came home to an "imminent hard drive failure" warning. I started a backup, which had hit 21% after two hours and decided to go to bed. I woke up to find my computer in a boot loop. I have no idea if the backup finished. The SSD isn't being recognized by my hard drive.

this drive had less than 3000 hours of power-on time according to crystaldisk- that's the first thing i checked when i got the warning.

This drive did NOT live up to ANY of the expectations i had. I see the drive is listed as discontinued and out of stock- GOOD RIDDANCE.

1 out of 5 eggsalready dead

Pros: died after moderate use after only 1 year 2 months... speed was fine... but that is the shortest lifespan of a hard drive that i have ever had

Cons: faster to die

1 out of 5 eggsnot worth it

Pros: cheap higher capacity drive

Cons: does not have very good performance at all. Bought this new and it had to be sent to crucial within a year because the drive would not stay online no matter how many times it was power cycled or flashed. Got a refurb in the mail and it scores lower than a disk drive in performance tests. If you want an ssd just to say you have one get it, if you want the performance an ssd can give DO NOT get this drive.

1 out of 5 eggsLets just say it died in less than 8 months

Pros: cheap.

Cons: Drive died with no warning and was completely wiped clean, no chance to recover data. Purchased the drive on 12/18/12

3 out of 5 eggsComparable to WD Black spindle disc

Pros: In general, SSDs have a reputation for being reliable and quick. Crucial got the price right. Drive plugged right up to my Asus Sabretooth990FX/Phenom II 975 Black edition Windows 7 comp with no additional software/firmware needed.

Cons: This drive is Crucial's attempt at a bargain bin SSD for mainstream computer users.

Both Windows Experience Index and ATTO rate this drive as equal to the Western Digital Black 2TB it replaced, so it doesn't seem to have the speed more costly SSDs boast. Additionally, windows boot up time and program load times don't seem to be noticeably improved over the WD Black.

The most worrying thing though, is that CPU-Z hardware monitor reports the drive as running consistently at 96 degrees Celsius (204F). I immediately opened up my computer and the HDD definitely doesn't feel that hot. I most likely have a bad sensor in the drive itself, although if a sensor is bad, it casts some doubt on the quality of the other components in the drive.

Other Thoughts: All in all i'm rather disappointed in my very first SSD experience. However, after a number of bad experiences with even top-of-the line spindle drives, i decided to make the leap to SSD and this was the only one in my price range.

We'll see how this plays out.

4 out of 5 eggsNew life into old hardware

Pros: Brought new life into an old 2007 Macbook Pro 3,1. The MacBook Pro is only capable of SATA1 so this SATA2 SSD was more than sufficient. The system was running at 50MB/s read/write with the old 5400 RPM HDD. It's now hitting 150MB/s read/write (3x performance increase).

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsSo So

Pros: It works, shipped fast.Tests were close to advertised speeds

Cons: Might be a bad card. Computer locks up sometimes for a few seconds when opening programs. Doesnt seem as fast as claimed. Multitasking dont seem to great.

Other Thoughts: New to the whole SSD thing. There might be something i am over looking but i did my research and did what i could with what i found to be wrong. pretty sure its the product. Would RMA but dont want to go through the hassle it works good enough.

4 out of 5 eggsFast!

Pros: Fast! Didn't believe the hype of ssd drive until I got this set up right, and its not even the fastest they make. Windows boot and shutdown time cut and half and everything else is instant.

Cons: I RMA'd the first one because of it being super slow. Same problems with the second so I started playing around. Long story short, make sure you have the proper ahci drivers from amd/intel (esp ones with older motherboards like I, and dont get it form the mobo site) and this thing will scream. I was having problems with the newest amd drivers for my mobo so i had to find an older one that still gave me fast performance. It was a pain but more a fault of the mobo and there lack of support since its almost 4 years old.

Other Thoughts: If you do get this drive and its slow, prob not the drives fault. Find the right ahci drivers for you chipset!

1 out of 5 eggsSATA 2!

Pros: Works as a SATA 2 drive

Cons: Is half as fast as a SATA 3 drive. If you have SATA 3 ports, don't get this drive! Get the M4 if you want a Crucial drive, or get one from another manufacturer!
