5 out of 5 eggsWaiting for more.

Pros: Good timings
high speed
high capacity(8GB/stick)
Low profile(seriously, it fits under even the bigger CPU coolers
lower voltage, minor power savings.

Cons: It doesn't come in green, and it doesn't have LEDs. :P

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT MEMORY

Pros: Great memory. Bought 4 of these for a new build for a total 32GB. Memtest86 = About 34 hours and had no errors.

Bought it for $65 each. Good buy

Cons: None so far. I was looking at this memory for a long time but waited for the reviews to come in. The lowest price I saw this go for was around $50 each.

Other Thoughts: Build for Video & PHOTO Editing / GAMING:

-MSI Z87-GD65
-Intel Core i7-4770K
-EVGA GTX 780
-Crucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB x 4
-Samsung 840 EVO Series 250GB
-Intel 335 240 (for STEAM/UPlay)
-WD Drives

2 out of 5 eggsSerious quality controll issue

Pros: very low profile, CAS8, 1.35V. Looks great. Newegg's service is great!

Cons: Terrible quality control. Exchanged 3 times before getting a module to work on at advertised speed: 1600, CAS8, 1.35V. I have Asrock Z87E-ITX -C2 stepping bios v2.1/2.3, & 4770K. 1st module failed at 1333 and causes blue screen at 1600. 2end module failed at 1600 but works at 1333. 3ird module has a few errors @1600 1.35v after running over night with memtest+ 5.01. 4th module so far running overnight without an error. I'll let it continue to run for a whole day before I declare "OK".

Other Thoughts: I do not understand why all the praise from Newegg reviews. Either I am having extremely bad luck or many are running at 1333 or at 1.5V. For a while, I was wondering if I did any thing wrong in installing and settings for the module. Anyhow, I am so glad that I bought from Newegg. They stand behind what the sell and let me exchange these bad modules.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We're sorry if our modules have caused you issues. It could be a number of things preventing you from running at 1.35V (assuming 1.5V worked fine and you're using the provided XMP profiles). We test across many motherboards and platforms at rated speeds, timings and voltages, it could be your board and our memory is just slightly on the edge case of 1.35V support meaning it is more sensitive at 1.35V and you've had to try various modules to find one that passes.

Please contact our support at 1-800-336-8896 option # 2 or online at www.crucial.com/help if you need further assistance. We fully stand behind our products and offer a limited lifetime warranty on DRAM

Regards,
Crucial

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine

Pros: Installed 2 sets on an ASUS M89AGTDPro and it works fine. Not blindingly fast but didn't expect it to be. Well worth the money

5 out of 5 eggsCrucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT8G3D1608ET3LX0

Pros: Bought this memory December 2013. I was debating on getting 2x 4gb memory just in case of a memory failure so that still have one working, but I decided just to keep this. Works perfectly no complaints so far!

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsNeeds slightly higher voltage

Pros: Fast, low profile

Cons: At the advertised 1.35 voltage and 8-8-8-24 timing I experienced a lot of memory access (C0000005) errors while gaming.

Since increasing the voltage a little things have been stable.

This is the first time I've had to adjust memory voltage to be able to game and I would rather have been able to use it at the advertised voltage/timings.

Other Thoughts: I'm glad I purchased this ram.

1 out of 5 eggsCrucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB Review

Pros: Low Profile, and lowest CAS that you can find for DDR3 1600. Easy to overclock.

Cons: I ordered 4 sticks for a client build. 3 of 4 were bad and failed memtest86+ with errors. I sent back and Newegg quickly processed my RMA. I received 3 sticks and this time 2 of 3 were failed memtest86+. Sending them back now.

Also, the motherboard would not boot if I choose 8-8-8-24 @1.35v. But @1.5v it has no issue. I could also OC it to 9-9-9-24 with no issues. Just that the failure rate is too high and I would never use this memory again. I have used the regular size Sports (not the ones with high heatsink) and they work great, so I got these when they were on sale thinking I could OC for my client. So I ma weeks late for the build and end up giving my client 25% off the price for the memory.

Other Thoughts: I have many cruciall products such as the M500 SSD. I have 2 960GB and 1 480GB, and various Crucial memory. They are quite reliable but I think this low profile low voltage tactical memory is gimmicks. Not sure if I got a bad batch but I will stay away from Crucial for a while for my client builds. Kudos to Newegg for prompt RMA processing and replacement.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We're sorry to hear our memory has caused you any issues. This many parts causing errors is highly unusual, it sounds like a compatibility issue or configuration issue, please contact at 1-800-336-8896 if we can still help you out. Your configuration information would be valualbe to us especially if there is a certain board that requres a BIOS update or special BIOS configuration.

Regards,
Crucial

2 out of 5 eggsDon't Use This Memory With Pro Tools 11

Pros: Lots of memory for relatively cheap, but beware if you want to use it with Pro Tools.

Cons: All my other programs worked fine but I noticed Pro Tools 11.1 (on Windows 7) began to crash with four of these memory sticks installed (32 GB), sometimes giving memory errors, which I why I suspected this memory was not prime for Pro Tools. I got three general types of errors with Pro Tools 11 with this memory: 1. Program crashes with Pro Tools memory error message, gives a way to exit the program. 2. PT crash causes the computer to totally freeze, no memory message, and CTRL + DEL wouldn't always allow escape out of it, often had to press computer reset button because machine was completely frozen. 3. "Poof you're gone crashes" where the program just disappeared as if it had never been running.

I put the replaced Corsair Vengeance 8 GB (on two 4 GB sticks) back in the computer and all is well again with PT11 and only 8 GB memory. After the refund clicks through, it will probably be best to use a compromised 16 GB RAM and just get two more of the Corsair sticks.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

Thank you for the details, we'll pass along the information to our lab to see if they can test Pro Tools 11(if they don't already). Please feel free to contact our support at 1-800-336-8896 or online at www.crucial.com if there is any way we can assist. You didn't mention how your system was configured so that will be helpful as well. These modules support 1.35V and 1.5V, you may want to try them at 1.5V if you haven't already as some systems do not fully support 1.35V at this speed and CL8. There are two XMP profiles you can try (1.35V vs 1.5).

Regards,
Crucial

5 out of 5 eggsGood Performance, Low Profile

Pros: Small, low profile - fits nicely under my large cooler (Phanteks PH-TC14PE).

Cons: Newegg shipping option could be better.
