2 out of 5 eggsStarting to fail

Pros: Worked great for about 12 months.

Cons: Purchased this on 2/2014, and now windows is having a hard time loading. I have to POPO multiple times and go through the system recovery before windows will finally come up. Going to look for a better, more reliable SSD now.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: A nearly 512GB SSD for only around 200 bucks. You can't beat it. Improved Windows 7 start-up times in my laptop from a minute or so to about 7 seconds.

Cons: Not 481GB

1 out of 5 eggsdissapointed in this Crucial SSD

Pros: worked fast in a desktop computer for a few months

Cons: LASTED LESS THAN 1 YEAR
did not get the speeds listed
never got it to function fully in a laptop
clearly got a lemon so how do I get my money back after this long ?

Other Thoughts: as a long time buyer of Crucial memory in multiple systems over the last 20 years.
I am very disappointed that this has turned into an expensive paperweight in less than 1 year and I was never able to get the speed that should have been possible from an SSD.
where is the quality control ?
I still have an older system using crucial memory that has been working for over 10 years but this SSD started having problems within 6-8 months and is unusable now.

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems; speed is very good

Pros: Speed, reliability

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I use my system for gaming and penetration testing training. I run the game Rift on my system and loading is very fast when teleporting.

I have run antivirus or malware system scans and it is excellent: very fast.

I never received error messages or had slowdown or problems.

I got this on sale awhile back.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks quite fast in MacBook Pro

Pros: Easily replaced the 5400 RPM 500 GB HDD in my MBP and have never looked back. Boots in less than 10-15 sec. and is very snappy. 8 GB DRAM adds to it's improvement. Check out the 'net to add SSD optimization if you want as well. I think Yosemite may now do this but not sure. I'm still using Mavericks for now.

Cons: No cons at all since the conversion over 6 mo. ago.

Other Thoughts: The M500 series replaced the original M100 series. It has since been replaced by the M550 but the M500 still remains a great value for my requirements.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome drive

Pros: I upgraded my old Dell Latitude D630 that I use for work that I've had for almost 8 years with this SSD and it's like a brand new computer now. Boot times are super fast. Installation couldn't have been any easier. I would definitely buy one of these for another laptop.

Cons: Support for disk mirroring was lacking. I was able to hack my way through it using a USB - SATA cable and Macrium (free).

1 out of 5 eggsWorked great for 6 months then died...

Pros: I bought this drive to use as my system drive in a new custom build. No issues on the install and worked great for 6 months.

Cons: I can no longer get the pc to boot up. Attempts at using windows system repair have failed because the repair tools can no longer recognize the hard drive.

Other Thoughts: This was my first purchased SSD drive. I've had one in my work laptop for a year now and no issues there. I would expect a $200 + hard drive to last a minimum of 2 years.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible SSD

Pros: I bench-marked this SSD with "ATTO" and it can even preform a little faster than it is said to in the specifications. Read benched at a max of 520MB/s and a max write speed of about 440MB/s. HDTune does not bench this drive well/accurately so I had used ATTO instead.

Boots Windows 7 for me in under 17 seconds and half of that time is readouts etc. from my mainboard.

Purchased on Cyber Monday for $189. If it lasts a few years and always works this fast it will be very well worth the money spent.

Cons: None that I have seen.

Other Thoughts: Would be nice if it came with a converter from 2.5" to 3.5" so it could be installed into a desktop PC without needing to buy an adapter separately.

4 out of 5 eggsFast, seems reliable, won't boot in legacy mode

Pros: I'm using this in a Dell Latitude laptop. It makes quite a difference in speed. It's also much quieter than the 7200 RPM hard drive that came stock. It was reasonably priced; I got it on sale.

Cons: I couldn't get this drive to boot in "legacy mode", nor would it boot with a cloned Windows partition. I had to put the laptop in UEFI mode and do a fresh install of Windows.

If you have an old machine with just legacy mode, it may not boot at all. YMMV.

As a point of reference, I put a Samsung 840 EVO in my daughter's Asus gaming laptop, and it boots in legacy mode just fine. The EVO might also be slightly faster, though it's hard to tell.

Other Thoughts: If this drive is significantly cheaper than a Samsung or a newer Crucial, I recommend it. Otherwise, those are probably better choices.
