5 out of 5 eggsFast and solid

This review is from: Crucial M500 CT480M500SSD1 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) 2.5" 480GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: 480gb
Great manufacturer
Cheap
Fast

Cons: Color options won't match my new build but no biggie.

Other Thoughts: Bought this drive when I saw it go on sale for under $220. Before then the biggest SSD I had was 120gb. I also have a few 64gb SSD in my desktop that is near full. I bought this for my next build I'm doing in about 2 months. Was planning on getting a samsung evo but once I saw the price on this I couldn't resist. My old SSD is a crucial c300 and I have had no issues whatsoever with it. Currently I'm using it as a game storage drive and everything is loading fast. Definitely worth picking up if you need a new SSD for cheap.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome cooler

This review is from: Crucial M500 CT480M500SSD1 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) 2.5" 480GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Keeps my CPU very cool. I had troubles with several heat sinks on air cool. This liquid cooler is great. My 6 core CPU used to heat up the room, but now it stays nice and cool.

Cons: None that I know of.

Other Thoughts: There are more expensive liquid coolers out there, but I honestly can't see the need for anything more than this. Maybe if I were super multitasking like running two antiviruses, defraging an HDD And playing a game.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Price / Size

This review is from: Crucial M500 CT480M500SSD1 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) 2.5" 480GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Power loss protection, good price per size for the time ($270), seems to be a popular choice for a reliable SSD.

Cons: None yet. From the reviews I looked at, this is not the fastest SSD out there, but its still plenty fast! You won't regret getting this one over a faster model, as the differences in real world use will be next to none.

Other Thoughts: I have so far just copied Windows 8.1 from my previous SSD to this one, then resized the partitions to occupy the larger space and installed Ubuntu 14.04 in a dual boot fashion. Been using it on and off for the past week, and its decent for speed and everything seems to just work. I got this one due to the cheaper cost for its size as well as the power failure protection.

This brand also seems to have a lot of decent reviews out there.

Unless I edit this review later, assume its been good! :)

5 out of 5 eggsgreat upgrade

This review is from: Crucial M500 CT480M500SSD1 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) 2.5" 480GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Installed on my Dell Inspiron 15R SE (7520) aprox 6 months ago.
the laptop never was as fast as I thought it should be. in fact it was kinda slow and buggy. Put in the crucial 480, along with a fresh load of win 8.1.
I was considering getting a new laptop but not now! Best hardware upgrade ever. Made it into a new machine. Runs like it should have in the first place, especially since it had a mSATA boot drive which didn't seem to help.

Cons: none

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive for a Mac

This review is from: Crucial M500 CT480M500SSD1 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) 2.5" 480GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Very good cost/gigabyte ratio, performance is md level, but I knew this going in. In the end I have a great performing computer with decent capacity fast storage.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The new 550 cost a little more but on paper anyway performs a little better.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable and Reasonably Priced SSD

This review is from: Crucial M500 CT480M500SSD1 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) 2.5" 480GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Highly recommended by Tomshardware for its excellent balance of cost, reliablity and very good performance in its monthly article on Best SSDs for the buck. For me, I bought this on sale for $0.50/Gigabyte of the more reliable MLC flash memory -- the special stuff used by Intel for their SSD's.

My experience with this SSD on an Intel DG965WH and Asus M3A-EM, both running Windows 7 Home Premium, are very good. Very fast when ACHI is enabled.T

his SSD has not disappointed me. Very fast boot times of about 15 seconds. Games seem to load about half the time compared to the harddrives it replaced.

Cons: There are no serious cons with this SSD. Would have been nice to have a bracket to mount in 3.5 inch harddrive bays. An annoyance but not worth docking eggs for.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this SSD to friends or anyone who asked my opinion. If I were in the market for another 500GB SSD I would buy another one of these SSDs in 480GB or 960GB.

5 out of 5 eggsFriggen Fast

This review is from: Crucial M500 CT480M500SSD1 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) 2.5" 480GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Windows 8.1 starts in about 11 seconds...need I say more?

Skryim launch to In-game is around 5 seconds.

COD4 - I usually miss the loading bar at the bottom, not sure if it even appears

Cons: Don't have time to grab a beer while the computer restarts?

Other Thoughts: Other Hardware:
8 GB DDR3
3.4 GHz i4650k
