5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model BLS2K8G3N169ES4

Pros: Plug and play on Dell Precision M6500. Windows experience index went from 5.4 to 7.6 for the memory operation per second.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I was very apprehensive about buying this memory as the X920m processor supports only 8GB of memory at 1333MHz speed. Dell says they support upto 32GB, so I risked it and it works great.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great in my NUC

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model BLS2K8G3N169ES4

Pros: I got this elsewhere for a really good deal of $102 with shipping. I happened to really luck out. I have this in a Gigabyte Brix NUC along with a 500GB Samsung 840 EVO mSATA. The system runs on the i5-4570R. With the CPU, RAM and SSD the system just screams! I am using this for my HTPC. And have a 4GB HGST hard drive attached to my router for media storage. I ran 10 passes of memtest on this with 0 errors. In stability tests there wasn't even a hint of problem. Everything is very responsive.

Cons: A pet peeve of mine is people who say their tech knowledge is higher than it really is. I'd say an engineer or programmer would be high tech knowledge. Someone who knows a fair amount of engineering specs would be somewhat high. Anyone who basis performance off of WEI scores is not above an average tech knowledge at best. The Elitebook 8460p runs Sandy Bridge mobile processors which do not support 1.35V and only support 1066 and 1333 DDR3. 1600Mhz is not supported, so that system is underclocking the memory.

Other Thoughts: Too many people overestimate their abilities, and blame the wrong thing instead of themselves for not knowing what they are doing.

5 out of 5 eggsworks in early 2011 Macbook Pro

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model BLS2K8G3N169ES4

Pros: These sticks seems to so far work in my early 2011 Macbook Pro, which is good, because I wasn't sure they would.

Cons: My laptop is only supposed to take ddr3 1600, which this is, but my laptop is only set to use 11-11-11 timings. Anyway, I guess because my system is using higher CAS timings, when I pull a system report, it says that I'm using 1867 RAM. I'll run a memory diagnostic and if I have any problems I'll report back here.

4 out of 5 eggsWas happy until...

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model BLS2K8G3N169ES4

Pros: Great quality and fast memory. I mean what is there more to say about a memory module. It did what it was supposd to do.

-price was great
-timing was on point

Cons: However i have only owned this memory for 5 months and already one of the modules took a dump on me and at the wrong time. Was doing a role back to a previous date on my laptop stepped out to go eat came back to a black screen. i went through all of my checking. and rebooted a few times. the last thing on my mind was memory seeeeing as how i JUST got it! was the last thing i checked. by swapping out each one at a time with the old memory and found out which module it was. I guess i Really dont have much bad to say about it other than i wish it lasted longer than 5 months.

Other Thoughts: since the memory is $150 for 2 im guessing I am out of $75 bucks cus i cant RMA it back.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Memory

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model BLS2K8G3N169ES4

Pros: I own a new Lenovo IdeaPad Y410p, which shipped with one stick of 8GB CAS 11 DDR 1600. I wanted 16 GB, and buying it separately was cheaper than buying a system w/it installed. Plus you generally don't get the very best, nor fastest memory pre-installed.

Cons: None what so ever.

3 out of 5 eggsCrucial Ballistix Sport DDR3-1600 SODIMM Memory Modules BLS2K8G3N169ES4

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model BLS2K8G3N169ES4

Pros: - Work in a HP Elitebook 8460p Laptop.
- Easy Install and PnP
- Price
- DDR3-1600MHz PC3-12800
- 9-9-9-24 Timing
- 1.35 volts for lower heat

Cons: - No faster than the Crucial PC3-10666 DDR3-1333MHz modules I had.

Other Thoughts: I was expecting an improvement in the memory speed WEI score when I replaced the Crucial CT102464BF1339.C16FER DDR3-1333MHz modules with these Crucial Ballistix Sport modules which are supposed to be DDR3-1600MHz modules. In fact, I saw absolutely no difference in the WEI performance score, even after re-running the test 3 times. I even went into the BIOS and checked if the settings were correct to take advantage of the faster modules. NO Luck there either.

Every other time I upgraded from PC3-10666 to PC3-12800 modules I got a bump in the WEI score. Not this time. I really cannot tell why this time should be different.

There doesn't appear to be anything physically wrong with these Ballistix Sport modules that I can tell. I must have just received a kit that was on the low end of the curve.

These Ballistix Sport modules function correctly, as far as I can tell. I'm just a little disappointed that they were no better than the modules I already have. I spent money on an upgrade that really wasn't.

I'll have to see if I can RMA these back to Newegg and not get socked for shipping or other fees.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Choice

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model BLS2K8G3N169ES4

Pros: Low timings, voltage and latency with high speeds and XMP. Makes this memory compatible with pretty much any Haswell-based mobile platform. Got it for a great price, thanks to the $30 off promo code.

I purchased this to upgrade over the standard 8GB module that shipped with my MSi GE60 Apache Pro-003. The notebook automatically applied the correct speed and timings and booted without a hiccup. System ran without issues for the first full day of use.

I needed this upgrade since I also use this machine for video editing work, and such programs will often grab all the available memory they can. The original 8GB (which also had slower 11-11-11-28 timings) was showing its limitations.

Cons: Well... Price. Even though I got it for $30 off, DDR3 memory is considerably more expensive now than it was when the market was over-saturated a couple years ago. But we wont be seeing prices like that again.

Other Thoughts: I also have this notebook upgraded with the M550 256GB SSD from Crucial, which has been running like a champion. for the past 4 months. Another great piece of hardware to check out if you're looking at upgrading your notebook.

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model BLS2K8G3N169ES4

Pros: Its Ram... It works. and quite well.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I do not have much to say. I wish I could. My system is spot on. Everything is smooth as butter.
