5 out of 5 eggs2010 Macbook Pro

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT128MX100SSD1 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: - Easy installation in my wife's 2010 Macbook Pro
- Ridiculously fast compared to 5400 rpm hard drive
- Applications start so quickly.
- Mac OS X feels so snappy.
- 79.99? What a cheap upgrade.

Cons: - None that I can see.

Other Thoughts: Unbelievable change in my wife's 4 year old Macbook. What an easy and awesome upgrade. I will buy more.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT128MX100SSD1 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: - Installed no problem.
- Great price (60 bucks).
- Good performance.

Cons: - Nothing worth complaining about really. Time will tell.
- Actual write speeds could be a bit better, but it's not bad.

Other Thoughts: Put it in a new ASUS cheapo laptop with a celery cpu and it made a big difference. The thing actually came to life. Laptop is completely silent now too(except when dvd is in use). Have to use manual trim command periodically with Linux but not Crucials problem. Still better than windows 8.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst SSD I've used

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT128MX100SSD1 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast and cheap. It's the first SSD I've set up and I love it so far but I don't really have a SSD reference point tbh. One thing that I noticed was a lot more fun with this was during the initial set up of the PC when every program asks you to restart, I usually just hold off and do the restart all at one time but the boot up with this was so fast that it didn't really make a difference to me.

Cons: None so far

4 out of 5 eggsgood first ssd

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT128MX100SSD1 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: *its an ssd
*sixty bucks on sale blackfri/cyber monday
*much faster than my 300gb velociraptor [got in 2010, seems old now that i think about it haha]
*much smaller than i thought, 2/3 as tall as a laptop hdd

Cons: ****NOT THE SAME THING AS THE MX100 256 AND 512***
they have much smaller nm process READ UP before getting

110mbps write, this may be my first ssd but it seems like they can do alot better since it only JUST came out. the 256 and 512 are MUCH faster [but cost more]

Other Thoughts: *got 2 of this rather than a v300 ssdnow while they were the same price
*110mbps write - compared to what others post as 500mbps this seems slow, however its hard to tell unless you love to watch progress bars copy and paste back and forth for no reason, or are coppying 50+gb

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Bang for Buck

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT128MX100SSD1 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: -Great price per performance
-Marvell industrial/commercial grade controller w DRAM Cache
-Decent IOPS level
-Great Company w Warranty and Pricing

Cons: -Not as peppy as the better drives like Samsung and Plextor but holds it own, cause I've been running my systems on a Samsung 830 and Plextor M3S and this Crucial is just as fast but I noticed a few minor hiccups and minor lag on multi-tasking programs and some tasks that my other drives didn't experience and think the last firmware update resolved but sold this drive to friend cause I upgraded to Samsung 840s

Other Thoughts: The difference was minimal but if your used to instant performance you can notice a few small hiccups but if upgrading from a sandforce SSD or standard HDD, it is still an amazing drive an worth the investment. Crucial has amazing support and very competitive price range.
An while the DRAM cache has become the normal on SSD, this drive has some of the largest DRAM DDR3 ranging from 256-512MB unlike other controllers that go as low as 64MB and I recommend 128MB or better. an if you can afford it with right setup buy 2 512GB and have a 1TB @ 1GBs read speeds and 1GB of DRAM cache in RAID 0 which in theory can load bandwidth data speeds in just the DRAM and helps greatly to not degrade drive and still have the performance and instant response time.
Installed on a nice 4 core 650Ti HDD system and they love it and can't believe how much faster this over standard HDD but aren't all SSD better than HDD as dedicated OS drives

1 out of 5 eggsKaput

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT128MX100SSD1 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: It's very pretty, with the silver case and gorgeous blue decal

Cons: It doesn't work. This product is incompatible with Windows XP Professional (unless by chance the one I received is defective).

5 out of 5 eggsBought Another

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT128MX100SSD1 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Quality
Price

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I mentioned in my other review for an earlier purchase that I I had to RMA a MX-100. Turns out the RMA was not necessary at all. If your system is Windows 8x and you don't have a UEFI-based motherboard, then you may need to uncheck the 'Turn on fast startup' option in the Control Panel's Power Options area. Otherwise, you could experience BSODs with this SSD when you boot up from a powered down state.

You might want to do that anyway to avoid other problems with non-UEFI motherboards and Windows 8x. I've had problems with other drives too until I unchecked fast startup.
