Run your system longer than ever before -using less power.
-With Extreme Energy Efficiency technology, the Crucial MX100 is up to 94% more energy efficient than a typical hard drive.

Push your drive to the limit and avoid overheating.
-Adaptive Thermal Protection technology enables the Crucial MX100 to dynamically adjust activity based on how you're using the drive, allowing your system to stay cool.

Keep your memories, photos, and files safe.
-When a photo or file gets corrupted, it often becomes unusable. Prevent this from happening in the first place. Every NAND component in the MX100 is armed with four layers of Exclusive Data Defense.

Protect all your data - even if the power goes out.
-With Power Loss Protection, if you happen to be saving a file and you suddenly loose power, your data will still be preserved.

5 out of 5 eggsFine So Far

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast. Just like an SSD should be.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Cloned a mechanical drive to this with no problem, using the awesome DriveSnapShot utility. Result is nice quick startup of a Win7 Pro system, noticeably quick file system access at all times.

The motherboard lacks SATA III so I've got a PCIe SATA III 6.0Gbps interface card on the way in hopes of taking full advantage of this drive. We shall see.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome SSD

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: I have owned a number of SSDs over the last several years. I have experience with multiple SandForce based drives, the Samsung 830 and 840Pro, Plextor M3, SanDisk Extreme II, SanDisk Ultra Plus, Crucial M500, and more.

The Crucial MX100 is by far the best value of any of these drives. For $109 I am getting 553 MB/s sequential reads with ATTO and 346 MB/s sequential writes. The drive really takes off at the 64KB file size, but the write speed drastically exceeds the read speed below that size. Exactly as it should be.

My drive came well packaged with a spacer that was unnecessary for my desktop, but it was nice to see it included for those that need the spacer for 7mm to 9mm Z-height. I use this Crucial MX100 as a secondary gaming only drive where it will live most of it's life reading/loading levels.

Here are the exact ATTO results. See my system specs for further information. I am using ATTO 2.47 and Intel RST 13.2.4.1000.

Write/Read speeds are in MB/s and are rounded to the nearest MB.

File Size....................Seq Write................Seq Read

.5K..............................52.............................20
1K...............................88.............................38
2K...............................134...........................67
4K...............................301...........................132
8K...............................337...........................187
16K.............................343...........................312
32K.............................346...........................384
64K.............................346...........................513
128K...........................347...........................520
256K...........................347...........................551
512K...........................346...........................553

The numbers from 512K to 8MB are exactly the same, so no point in recording them here.

The results are not going to change with data type, for example compressible vs. in-compressible ala SandForce. It should be noted that even the fastest SandForce drive is not going to achieve anything over 180 MB/s on in-compressible data on sequential writes, so the MX100 price/performance ratio is unbelievable.

The firmware that came on my drive MU01.

Cons: Absolutely NONE.

5 out of 5 eggsNeat Little Drive!

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: I picked this up for my new gaming computer I am slowly building. The price was more than right and Its blindingly fast and more along with a tad more data space then my 240gig I have now. When I was told this HD was on sale for the price I pounced on it and now its sitting in my new case waiting for my other purchased

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Free delivery was nice and it arrived in three days. It was packaged ok but could have been wrapped better. It seems to have arrived and survived the trip.

4 out of 5 eggsFast SSD but questioning reliability

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Price is good
it's really fast, win8.1 boots in 7 seconds

Cons: not sure this is a con yet, but since i have had the drive installed in my new laptop for just over a week, on 2 occasions the computer greened screened saying there was a problem, and shut down and would not restart, when checking bios, the SSD was not showing up, after leaving the computer off for 30 mins, it turned ok normal, this has happened twice in 1 week, not sure why the SSD is not showing up in Bios for 20-30 mins,

Other Thoughts: minus the SSD not randomly not showing up inthe BIOS, the drive is amazingly fast and at a great price,

5 out of 5 eggsFast SSD great brand

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: I had a Crucial M4 128 before this SSDand never had a bit of trouble with it but ran out of room after two years. This drive will give me plenty of room till the larger drives come down in price. Migrating Windows 8.1 was a breeze and windows was activated upon transfer.

Cons: Had to create a partition before it would be recognized to do the migration of windows.

Other Thoughts: If you want a fast dependable drive at a great price you cant go wrong with Crucial
