Extended Feature Set: RAIN Reliability, Opal (eDrive), Robust Data Protection, and Adaptive Thermal Monitoring

Warranty: 3 Year

Run your system longer than ever before -using less power.
-With Extreme Energy Efficiency technology, the Crucial MX100 is up to 94% more energy efficient than a typical hard drive.

Push your drive to the limit and avoid overheating.
-Adaptive Thermal Protection technology enables the Crucial MX100 to dynamically adjust activity based on how you're using the drive, allowing your system to stay cool.

Keep your memories, photos, and files safe.
-When a photo or file gets corrupted, it often becomes unusable. Prevent this from happening in the first place. Every NAND component in the MX100 is armed with four layers of Exclusive Data Defense.

Protect all your data - even if the power goes out.
-With Power Loss Protection, if you happen to be saving a file and you suddenly loose power, your data will still be preserved.

Do More - Faster.
-Get true 550 MB/s sequential reads on both compressible and incompressible data - and leave your old 177 MB/s hard drive in the dust.

Get best-in-class hardware encryption.
-Keep personal files information secure from hackers and thieves with AES 256-bit encryption - the same grade used by banks and hospitals. The MX100 meets Microsoft eDrive, IEEE-1667, and TCG Opal 2.0.

Save and transfer files in seconds rather than minutes.
-Our exclusive Native Write Acceleration technology spreads the drive's workload across several elements, enabling you to perform write-related tasks in seconds rather than minutes.

Attain consistently fast speeds without compromising data reliability.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Fast

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: I am able to boot to with Windows 8.1 almost instantly. Very reasonable price.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I use this to boot to windows as well as store some of my games.

I keep my computer next to my desk so I have to reach over pretty far to turn it on. By the time I look up I am 100% ready to go.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: My Win 8.1 (64bit) boots in ~10-15 seconds!

Fast game load time, especially noticeable when starting Civ V.

At 256GB there is enough room for the OS, Apps, and 100+GB of games.

Cons: Still more expensive than a spin drive.

Other Thoughts: Really impressed with this SSD so far. I consider it well worth the $100 sale price I spent on it.

3 out of 5 eggsFast but unstable(?)

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: It's my first SSD so naturally I find it incredibly fast compared to my HDD. Easy to install. Loads Windows 8.1 blazingly fast.

Cons: Since installing I am getting fairly frequent BSOD's, some Kernel_Security_Check ones, some other ones I can't remember off the top of my head.

Other Thoughts: I will update after I do some more research to see if I can rectify the BSOD issues.

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad, Pretty good

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: -I just got the drive this week and I tested the speeds and I got pretty good results.
-I got an avg of 500 mb/s for Read and 345 mb/s for Write
and Ive done several tests with 1-4 gb tests on crystaldiskmark.
-I would really rather have the 540 for read speed like what the specs said because read is more important. I've seen some reviews and most of them had the write at 300 but this one I got was a little bit faster at 345.

Cons: -It doesn't come with a bracket to mount to your hard drive cage for those who don't know, but I bought the ICY Dock on newegg, so I didn't need one. And the Icy Dock is pretty cool, it holds 2 ssds without any screws with a relatively easy release mechanism.

Other Thoughts: 500.6 mb/s Read 345.6 mb/s Write
462.1 mb/s Random Read 345.3 mb/s Random Write@512K

5 out of 5 eggsGreat improvement over old mechanical drive

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: All the usuall stuff. Blazing boot times and great performance index rating in windows. This is important in a small business time is money and they used to wait 8 to 15 minutes for their computers to boot.

Cons: cost to storage is still fairly steep compared with mechanical drives.

Other Thoughts: I will never build a PC without an SSD for the OS again.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast, fit perfectly, used the spacer

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have a 5 year old laptop that I'm trying to get a few more years out of. This SSD did the trick and now, combined with a memory upgrade, it flies. I needed the spacer it came with, and was glad that came with it.

Photoshop starts very quickly, and boot times are also very fast.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little drive

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Great price to size ratio, Crucial tech, and an MLC drive. The drive is a speedy guy that is replacing an Intel 1st gen 120 gig that is my OS and game of the month drive. This new drive allows me to have the adobe CS6 installed on the SSD along side whatever I'm playing the most and have room left to spare. Loading games is fast and working with files between both PS and Illustrator on two screens is really fast. Boots in about 10-12 seconds now and that's after cloning the 120GB drive it's replacing, so there's a lot that runs on startup.

Cons: There are no cons that I can think of here.

Other Thoughts: I didn't need it since it was going into a desktop, but the retail packaging includes an adapter to make this fit in older laptops. Would be a plus if I needed it.

5 out of 5 eggs2nd Purchase

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: This is my second MX100 256GB from Newegg.

-It is as fast as more expensive products
-Crucial aka Micron makes its own NAND unlike some others.
-Cheap
-Reliable
-Not a Sandforce controller

Cons: Still trying to find out, maybe not as cheap as as a hard drive.

Other Thoughts: Ensure you enable HIPM+DIPM and it will run cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsVery fast, great price, Crucial quality.

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: It's very fast, it's pretty cheap, and you get that high Quality that Crucial has always been known for.

Cons: Wat?

Other Thoughts: I just ran HDTune Pro 5.0 on this for a single Read test. Minimum: 199.9MB/sec, Maximum: 394.2MB/sec, Average: 361.9MB/sec. Is that even necessary? Well, I'll tell you this, I'm coming from an Intel X-25 series and this feels noticeably faster during browsing, such as when switching pages, etc. Access time is when these things really blow any RAID array out of the water with a 0.055ms access time, the read burst rate was 172.9MB/sec, and CPU usage on my i3 3220 was 4.9%. I'm pretty sure the only reason this drive didn't perform better is because I have a cheap motherboard with a single stick of RAM. It's still a boss, can't wait to get some games loaded on it.
