Extended Feature Set: RAIN Reliability, Opal (eDrive), Robust Data Protection, and Adaptive Thermal Monitoring

Warranty: 3 Year

Run your system longer than ever before -using less power.
-With Extreme Energy Efficiency technology, the Crucial MX100 is up to 94% more energy efficient than a typical hard drive.

Push your drive to the limit and avoid overheating.
-Adaptive Thermal Protection technology enables the Crucial MX100 to dynamically adjust activity based on how you're using the drive, allowing your system to stay cool.

Keep your memories, photos, and files safe.
-When a photo or file gets corrupted, it often becomes unusable. Prevent this from happening in the first place. Every NAND component in the MX100 is armed with four layers of Exclusive Data Defense.

Protect all your data - even if the power goes out.
-With Power Loss Protection, if you happen to be saving a file and you suddenly loose power, your data will still be preserved.

Do More - Faster.
-Get true 550 MB/s sequential reads on both compressible and incompressible data - and leave your old 177 MB/s hard drive in the dust.

Get best-in-class hardware encryption.
-Keep personal files information secure from hackers and thieves with AES 256-bit encryption - the same grade used by banks and hospitals. The MX100 meets Microsoft eDrive, IEEE-1667, and TCG Opal 2.0.

Save and transfer files in seconds rather than minutes.
-Our exclusive Native Write Acceleration technology spreads the drive's workload across several elements, enabling you to perform write-related tasks in seconds rather than minutes.

Attain consistently fast speeds without compromising data reliability.
-Our engineers created RAIN technology. This enterprise-class, RAID-like technology increases the protection of data to a level rarely seen in consumer SSD's.

5 out of 5 eggsMX100-256gb

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Win7 64-bit boots from cold start in 8 seconds!

Drive replaced Seagate 320gb 7200-rpm with boot times around a minute.

Highly recommend! Raised my Windows performance from 5.4 to 7.2. Only using a bit over half the capacity on the SSD as a boot drive.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The enclosed Acronis link doesn't work. Have to download the trial version, backup old drive, then restore to SSD. The clone function doesn't work in the trial version.

Would be nice if it came with a simple 3.5" tray, but a strip of Velcro holds it in place.

5 out of 5 eggsFast + Cheap = great product.

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: FAST! Very good price per GB ratio.

Cons: No matter how you slice it you're still paying for the OEM's development costs with these things.

Other Thoughts: I have two of these in a RAID 0 configuration. Windows 7 loads so fast it doesn't even get a chance to finish the "starting windows" screen before it loads to the desktop. Programs load and install blazingly fast now compared to my old computer.

Now that I have gotten into the SSD game, I'll never go back!

The funny thing is, these are the "low end" versions. I'm sure that the higher end models are faster but other than benchmarks I'm sure the average person is not going to see a difference in real-world usage.

PS: Make you go for the 256mb or 512 version, the 128GB version has a much slow write speed which makes it not as good of a value.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast. Cheap.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This SSD is the cheapest of the bunch. With about 80000 IOPS for read and write, this one is a perfect SSD for any application.

Just ordered 2 of 512 GB for my database server. Time will tell if this SSD will survive the load. I have other rCrucial SSDs and it is over a year, and they are running great in my Database server under very heavy load. I trust and would recommend ONLY Crucial SSDs. Tried others, like Sundisk, Samsung... Was not very happy with Sandisk and Samsung due to either performance or failure rate.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: - Fast
- Stable
- Cheap

Cons: - Didn't even attempt to make me breakfast

Other Thoughts: This is the best bang for buck right now. My Win 8 install went smooth and I have had ZERO issues. I am even using an older board not on Crucial's compatibility list (it's SATA II and not III).

5 out of 5 eggsGood SSD

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Got this in mid june. So far so good. This is my first ssd. Windows boots up quick. Well worth the money

Cons: none so far.

Other Thoughts: Everything is good so far. Lets see what happens in the next few months should something go wrong (and i hope it doesnt) and i start the process of attempting to replace unit from Crucial

5 out of 5 eggsFast!

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: A lot faster than I expected it to be
No muss or fuss with installation, formatting, etc.
Packaged well

Cons: Didn't come with any bacon. Not one strip. Almost removed a star but whatever, I'll manage

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace my old 256 GB Kingston SSD, which has been relegated to being a games-only drive. On that drive, I loaded Win in about 10 to 12 seconds. On this drive, I'm down to around 4-5 seconds! SUPER fast! This is why Crucial has always been and will always be one of my favorite companies!

PC specs, if that matters to anyone (as it might related to this SSD's speed and whatnot): ASRock Extreme 4 990FX mobo, AMD FX-8150 8-core 3.6 GHz CPU, 16 GB G.Skill 1866 RAM, XFX R9 280X video card
