Run your system longer than ever before -using less power.
-With Extreme Energy Efficiency technology, the Crucial MX100 is up to 94% more energy efficient than a typical hard drive.

Push your drive to the limit and avoid overheating.
-Adaptive Thermal Protection technology enables the Crucial MX100 to dynamically adjust activity based on how you're using the drive, allowing your system to stay cool.

Keep your memories, photos, and files safe.
-When a photo or file gets corrupted, it often becomes unusable. Prevent this from happening in the first place. Every NAND component in the MX100 is armed with four layers of Exclusive Data Defense.

Protect all your data - even if the power goes out.
-With Power Loss Protection, if you happen to be saving a file and you suddenly loose power, your data will still be preserved.

Get best-in-class hardware encryption.
-Keep personal files information secure from hackers and thieves with AES 256-bit encryption - the same grade used by banks and hospitals. The MX100 meets Microsoft eDrive, IEEE-1667, and TCG Opal 2.0.

Save and transfer files in seconds rather than minutes.
-Our exclusive Native Write Acceleration technology spreads the drive's workload across several elements, enabling you to perform write-related tasks in seconds rather than minutes.

Attain consistently fast speeds without compromising data reliability.

4 out of 5 eggsDrive great, Acronis causes problems

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Drive is fast

Cons: Acronis software that comes with it caused a few days of major headaches. After installing the software on the old Windows drive and then cloning the disk from a bootable CD, the machine was up and working rather quickly on the new drive. However, within 5 minutes the laptop was locked up. After a hard reset, it did the same thing and did so after every reboot. I re-imaged again and the same thing happened. After googling for hours, I found out the the Acronis backup service had to be disbled to stop the lock ups. I have since completely removed the Acronis software. Everything is now working fine.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Value

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Low cost, functional, reliable

Cons: Not the fastest SSDs on the market, but you won't be able to tell the difference.

Other Thoughts: Good value. I own six SSDs from crucial - no problems.

5 out of 5 eggsBlazing Fast

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: I bought the Crucial 256GB for my wife's Toshiba laptop. I did a fresh install of Win 8.1 Pro and her computer boots in approximately 20 seconds. I have a Samsung 250GB running Win 7 Pro on my desktop and it boots in about 45 seconds. I've had computers since Win 95 and the Crucial 20 second boot time is by far the fastest boot time my eyes have ever witnessed.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Haven't had any problems so far. The area where the SSD is located seems to be cooler to the touch than the Toshiba 500GB HDD it replaced. Her laptop is rarely moved, sits on a cooling pad and stays on virtually 24/7. It's strictly used for entertainment - online gaming, YouTube and watching movies - and it's hooked via a HDMI to our 46" TV in our bedroom with a wireless mouse/keyboard. Being on as much as it is, is the main reason I wanted to replace it with a a SSD.

Cons: slow boot up through bios

4 out of 5 eggsCrucial MX-100 256GB SSD

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Acronis made transferring old HDD image rediculously easy.
Fits into standard 2.5" drive bay with adapter stuck on.
Fit into my Samsung N150 without problems. With included space adapter, there's no rattling inside the Netbook.

Cons: The device itself doesn't have any cons.

Other Thoughts: Requires a complete re-installation of non-RAID AHCI drivers to work properly without slow-downs. Optimization of SSD required to get proper "speed boost" out of it - such as disabling prefetch, scheduled defrags, etc. None of this is included with the drive. Do your research before you buy any SSD. Boot-times have noticeably decreased, though they are not the stupid-fast ones I've seen on-line. But that might be because A. it was cloned from the previous HDD and B. I'm new to SSDs.

4 out of 5 eggsSSD and RAID

This review is from: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Decent price. AHCI mounted AS SSD bench came up within a few MB/s of the manufacturers rated speed.

Cons: It didn't make me breakfast.

Other Thoughts: There are a bunch of reports about this drive being difficult in a RAID.
It specifically appears to be AMD SB RAID, in Windows. If you can get it on its own AHCI port, its fine. If you are running the AMD onboard RAID ROM, and using Linux, happy. Specifically, something is wrong with Windows, but there's no chance to get that fixed.
