1 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Didn't last very long. Kingston HyperX out lasted it.

Other Thoughts: If you buy this, make sure you constantly make back ups

5 out of 5 eggsRock solid

Pros: We have been using this for just under a year and it has speed up my workstation. Being used in a business we can't be waiting for the machine constantly so when we popped this in it was like night and day making the machine fly.

Cons: Had to buy an adapter to install the drive in a standard 3.5" bay most drives have them be it a simple folded piece of metal

Other Thoughts: The hard part was finding the adapter on a Saturday in a small town. What i found was the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817994083&cm_re=icy_dock-_-17-994-083-_-Product

Worked great no issues

3 out of 5 eggsGood for price

Pros: works just fine and I experience no hardware or software issues for the few months I've had it so far.
Runs windows 10 quite smooth.

Cons: No significant flaws but see "other"

Other Thoughts: It didn't come with a SATA cable or any mounting brackets of its own, so I kinda just hung it in my computer by my own sata cable from my previous drive. It just kinda hangs there and even unsecure and moved plenty of times it is still going great with no issues and no odd sounds.

I would give it a 4 egg but with that price being just average for 256gb SSD it doesnt come with its own cables or mounting options.

Other than that solid piece of hardware and would recommend as a primary for things you want pulled up fast but due to the small storage probably not stellar as a solo drive for your computing needs especially if you save pictures or other media.

3 out of 5 eggsIssues at first - seems to work fine now

Pros: Decent capacity SSD for the money at the time it was on sale.

Cons: At first it wasn't much faster than the 7200RPM drive it replaced, and left both me and my brother who I was building the computer for at a loss (and also very angry)

Browsed/Researched forums for a few hours and saw that this wasn't an issue with just me, but it was pretty common with this particular brand/drive. Fortunately common problems tend to come with resolutions, and after updating the drive's firmware and all related software, it sped up again to a passable amount.

Was going to RMA the thing but we didn't realize this wasn't shipped by Newegg (our mistake) and could not get a refund, so we had to just stick with it, which bothered me to no end.

Other Thoughts: It still doesn't match the speed of my 120Gb Intel 530 Series SSD which can load windows before the four colors on the loading screen come close to touch. This drive is a good ~5s slower, which really bummed me out and made me wish we had just forked over the bit of extra money for the 180 or 240 Gb Intel 530's instead, because outside of windows, all of our comparable programs load faster on my computer.

i5 2500k(not OC'd)
8Gb GSkill Ripjaws DDR3 1600
Intel 120Gb 530 Series SSD
ASUS H61M-A

vs

i7 4790k (also stock, no OC)
16Gb GSkill Ripjaws DDR3 1600
Crucial MX100 256Gb SSD
ASUS Z97-A

Yet my computer, which is 4 years older, is able to load Windows 7 faster than his. I won't deny there may be more settings for me to adjust, but the load times of his computer vs mine left me irritated and at a loss.

5 out of 5 eggsBoots in under a minute

Pros: Got it in a package deal. Boots win 7 in under a minute. No failures yet. Love it.

Cons: I didn't compare prices since I got it in a package deal. There is probably something cheaper out there. Samsung makes good SSD's from what I've heard. Shop around everyone.

Other Thoughts: It's an SSD. It works. What else do you want?

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent, if you don't have SSD already get it!

Pros: PassMark scores:
505 MB/sec sequential read
306 MB/sec sequential write
195 MB/sec random seek + rw

Works great after 1 year! I initially used it in an old Dell E1705 which it made usable again despite being from 2007. I now use it in my desktop and it is awesome! Everything is so much faster now.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: There may be faster SSDs out there, but this is great for the price. SSDs make everything so much better.

1 out of 5 eggsWas really fast, then failed.

Pros: Fast, amazing boot speed.

Cons: failed

Other Thoughts: After 3 months developed problems recognizing the drive. Lasted another month before total failure. Could not pin it to the drive, so spent over 100$ in shipping my laptop in for repairs and when it was returned the drive failed again. I recently tried putting it into my PC instead of my laptop, incase it was the laptop causing the problem. As soon as windows was installed it failed again. I am going to try to return it to Crucial since it is well under warranty.

1 out of 5 eggsVery unhappy with these SSDs

Pros: Good price
Works well with Linux

Cons: Incompatible with Windows10 causes freezing
There are no solutions, I have tried:
- Updated firmware
- Updated BIOS
- Re-installed Windows10
- Re-installed Windows10 drivers
- Updated all drivers
- Tried in 3 other laptops with W10, same problem
The combination of Windows10 and Crucial SSDs does not work.

Other Thoughts: I could not figure out if this issue is an OS issue or something with the SSD. When I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10, the laptop suffered from freezing after only 5 minutes or when any apps were accessed.
I spent a lot of time trying to get these SSDs to work in Windows10 and have come to the conclusion that I have to either A) Run Linux Mint instead of Widows10 or B) Change SSD drive.
if you have Windows 10, don't waste your time, buy from another SSD manufacturer.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked fine......for a while

Pros: Fast and responsive.

Cons: Worked well in the beginning, for backups of my main SSD 256 gb hard drive. By the third backup attempt, would not boot up/not recognized by my Windows 8.1 system.

Other Thoughts: Seemed to work well for the first few clones of my identical size Sandisk SSD hard drive, but when my main disk did finally fail and I replaced it with this one, failed to boot and generally was useless thereafter for any function and I lost all my data. Luckily I had backed up several important files on my Google Drive as well, as a backup #3. SSD's seem to be very undependable in general, compared to the older spinning disk drive technology.
