5 out of 5 eggsExcellent once installed

Pros: It's fast and low-power.

Cons: It was hard to clone my old drive and get this working on my AMD ASUS laptop. The included Acronis True Image 2014 software caused trouble, and I finally got it to work Cruicial's suggestion to remove SATA/IDE drivers and reboot worked badly.

Other Thoughts: Installed Acronis True Image 2014.
Went into View Local Services, into which Acronis installed three services.
I set Acronis Nonstop Backup Service to "Disabled" (double click the service).
I set Acronis Scheduler2 Service to Manual and started it.
I set Acronis Sync Agent Service to Disabled.

I MADE A RESTORE POINT (!!!)

I started Acronis, and got the cloning process ready to go.

I Went back to View Local Services, and stopped the Acronis Scheduler2 Service.

I Did the clone and proceeded to put the new SSD in the system in place of the old drive.
When the new, SSD, system came up, I did these things:
-Made another restore point. NOTE WELL: System Restore needed to be turned on for the new disk drive.
- Uninstalled Acronis True Image 2014
- Got back to work with my wizzy new SSD

5 out of 5 eggsAs Advertised

Pros: No special knowledge necessary - just another Hard Drive

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Fast and easy to replace existing HDD - used EaseUS Partition Manager to copy old partition and then just installed it as the only drive in my laptop.

1 out of 5 eggsDON'T BUY IT

Pros: None

Cons: Bought two, one locks up constantly, firmware cannot be upgraded, Crucial tech support is useless. AVOID CRUCIAL.

Other Thoughts: Should have checked their forums first, lots of people HATE this company, seems with good reason. This is FIRST negative review I had to give... pity...

5 out of 5 eggsUpdated review MX100 512G SSD

Pros: Drive upgradable to newer MU02 firmware. Fast and reliable.

Cons: None now that I was finally able to upgrade it once Crucial replaced the original defunct firmware update file with a new one that works.

Other Thoughts: Crucial never responded to my messages on their website about the defunct firmware update file that didn't work. But they FINALLY replaced it with a new functional file that did create a bootable CD or DVD, which works fine to upgrade the drive from MU01 to MU02. Thank you Crucial.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst SSD...biase because lack of experience

Pros: Good price/size/performance
Excellent reviews
Arconis included - with instructions to transition your existing system to the ssd

Cons: I haven't use this drive long enough (or any ssd prior to this one) to evaluate reliability

Other Thoughts: After using traditional drives and just ssd's on tablets, it's painfully slow to listen to my desktop boot on the traditional drive. Instantanous write of digital video w/o any compression.s

3 out of 5 eggsCT512MX100SSD1 drive

Pros: Nice drive with good speed and apparently good reliability. Great buy when on sale.

Cons: Crucial tech support and software QC seems very lacking. I've tried all methods to upgrade my firmware from MU01 to MU02, but either the crucial programs are poorly designed or the supplied firmware upgrade file on the crucial website is bad and is missing the firmware file that is supposed to be imbedded in the .zip file. No matter what I try, with any method, it always points to not being able to find a valid firmware file in the .zip package. I've emailed crucial about this, but no response.

Other Thoughts: Thankfully the drive works well with the MU01 firmware on mine, but I would certainly prefer being to get the upgrade program to function so I can upgrade the drive to the MU02 firmware. Their online .zip file on their website is apparently faulty!!!!

1 out of 5 eggsSeems great but unreliable

Pros: Fast big cheap

Cons: died after 7 months of very light usage.

Other Thoughts: I'm a truck driver. So i'm only home 2 days a month which is the only time I can use the computer I have this drive in. well it just up and died. I don't even use it for the game installs generally. it has the operating system and a few games on it. but the game I was playing when it failed was installed on a different drive. I don't see how I could have treated this drive any more gentle then I did. 7 months is pathetic considering the amount of use'.
