3 out of 5 eggsLike it, would have loved it though...

Pros: Solid construction from quality metal, well designed to prevent incorrect insertion, and looks exactly like a key.

Cons: Does not work on certain computers. Gives error 10 (can not start device) in the Windows API for accessing volumes. LaCie claimes this can be solved with a firmware upgrade; but do not provide one. Disappointing, to say the least.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Performance

Pros: Solid key flash drive, always fast and reliable. It seems to good to be true, but it is true, its a great flash drive that has lasted me throughout my collage years. I have been able to transfer my school documents, work documents, movies and pictures. This has been good to me.

Cons: Not many cons, however when I plug it in a USB in my computer and I leave my keys attached to it, it tends to slip out of the USB. I would take it out of the key chain if you are going to use it.

Other Thoughts: My key has quite a few dents in it, it still works perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

Pros: Great speeds, excellent construction, fast prices. I use this for an OS X 10.7 Installer DMG and a few application files on two partitions. It also lives on my keychain and gets scuffed all the time, but the metal construction is great.

Cons: A bit expensive...

5 out of 5 eggsPossibly the best Flash drive I've own.ed

Pros: -Strong/Durable, Elegant, Functional.
-Acceptable write speeds.
-Well Priced.

Cons: -Not USB 3.0, but LaCie does not make one yet, and 2.0 is still very good.
-"Protection Clip" is easy to lose, but it's kinda useless anyway.
-***Attached to key-chain.***

Other Thoughts: This is one of the best (if not THE best) USB Flash drive I have every purchased. The little plastic cover clip for the contacts is essentially useless, as i lost it within a month of owning it, but the contacts are still clean and work perfectly.

***In reference to my third Con ("Attached to key-chain"), This little guy is intended to go onto your key-chain, which is great UNLESS you have a mass of keys and intend to plug this into something with no support below it (such as a USB port above ground or table level). The weight of your keys can damage the port. That said, I invested in a "Lobster-claw Clasp" and attached that the my IamaKey, making it detachable from my key-chain when it needs to be. I strongly recommend doing the same.

All and all, this is an incredible product, and I not only recommend it, but have already bought it for several people as gifts (check reviews of the 16gb LaCie IamaKey).

5 out of 5 eggsSuperb Design

Pros: *Very durable metal build
*Delightful shape, blends in with my keys
*Fits perfectly on the keyring
*Connector strips are apparently uncorruptible, made of unobtainium(?)

Cons: *Transfer speed is average

Other Thoughts: So I got this in the spring of 2010 so I may have the first version of this drive. I don't remember there being any software on it so I can't comment on that. Ditto on the transfer speed, it may have changed.

What I will say is that this little guy has been one of my most beloved gadgets(some of my machines are very dear to me). It's fun, functional, and just plain works.

I had concerns at first about the gold connector strips getting gummed up, weathered, scratched out, or otherwise junked but it has taken everything I've thrown at it. With the Key comes a little plastic cap placed over the connector, don't let this fool you into babying the Key.

To close, I want to highly recommend to you this nifty drive. It's a keeper!

5 out of 5 eggsSolid, metal construction

Pros: * Excellent solid, metal (Not solid metal, but "solid [comma] metal") construction.
* Still works after a month of abuse (compare to some other reviews here)
* You get what you see; you get what you pay for

Cons: * Slightly larger than it needs to be (it is larger than my house key); this makes it stand-out more than it should as something other than a key
* Shiny surface very, VERY easily shows scratches and finger prints (after it gets heavily scratched, it develops a cool-looking patina, but that should have been the default standard)
* Plastic cover is useless; a more elegant cover should have been designed into the device itself, even at a price premium

Other Thoughts: As USB devices get smaller and more ubiquitous, the game is on to come up with unique and new ideas. The LaCie Iamakey V2 is a fantastic example of this. The solid metal construction feels high-quality and has withstood considerable abuse. However, I have some design issues that should be addressed: The device should ship without the plastic cover; it'll be one less thing people can gripe about. Either design one into the device somehow or leave it out. It isn't really necessary, AFAIC. Also, the device is longer and wider than it needs to be. I understand the tip must be a certain size, but the rest of the device should look more key-like, or at least mimic the size and thickness more closely. Finally, the device should have been a non-shiny metal patina to begin with; this would make it look more like a key, and also keep the device beautiful after wear. Otherwise, the construction is excellent and it has a high-quality "feel". Five eggs.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat so far

Pros: Small, sturdy

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: I think this is a great USB flash drive because of how convenient it is. it may not be the fastest drive out there but im using mine for those times you just need storage on the go. also that little clip that comes with it does get lost easily but i feel like you cant really blame the manufacture for that because if them made a bigger one it would ruin the size factor of the drive. all in all just be a grown up and take care of your flash drive and you wont lose it.

5 out of 5 eggsInsanely durable

Pros: Probably the sturdiest flash drive you can buy, because the attachment point is made of metal, instead of, say, rubber.

After having multiple other drives fall off my keychain after a few months, having one that has lasted over three years is a revelation.

Cons: The flash memory will wear out before the casing will. I use mine a lot, and the write speeds are beginning to get quite slow.

Other Thoughts: For the price (for any price, really), you can't beat it. Not having it snap off your keyring once will pay for itself.
