is this ram a 64 by 64?

The answer is yes - there are 8-chips on each side, 8*64 = 512.

That said, this stick caused my computer to keep locking up. Couldn't even get Win-98 loaded on it's own partition - I run a dual boot with XP-Pro SP-3 (x86) Fat-32 file system.

W98 has issues with 1-gig of mem, reason I bought this stick was: load the OS, add the switch to the system.ini file (MaxPhysPage=35000) then put my 1-gig stick back in.

Ended up buying a used Patriot 2x512MB kit off the bay for less than I paid for this POS. Used one stick to load W98 & get it updated, then added the other one.

Why W98?? - Because 98's disk checker works better than ALL newer OS'S - fixed my laptop's drive (standard SATA-150 interface) when NO other OS or program would - including the utils from the drive's manufacturer (Hitachi)!! Also let's me run Nero 5.5 which will copy CD's, newer versions = no, they took out the required option.

If you want good quality memory that works right, buy Patriot!! I've been using it since 2004 & have it in all three of my current systems, ALWAYS WORKS FLAWLESSLY!! Most of it was purchased here on NewEgg.

My computers = ye ole dual boot box, Dell laptop & newer box running Win-7 x64.

Question 2

I'm looking to upgrade the memory in a Dell Dimension 2400, and wanted to make sure if this is te right type of RAM for it? I am running Linux Mint XFCE 17 on the PC, and there is about 512mb of ram total  on it, and it is just too slow. I want to buy 2 512 sticks to upgrade it to 1gb.

The Ram worked great. Although it was not for one of my computers; it worked fine in my friends system. If I was you I would try to update the system totally. One gig of ram is not enough on any system really.
