3 out of 5 eggsDecent performer, cheap storage

Pros: The card is cheap for its capacity and performs somewhat decently, would probably be good in a camera.

Cons: I bought the card to be used with a CF to IDE adapter, and the first issue I have with it is that it gets identified as removable media instead of fixed, so windows 7 refuses to install to it. The other issue I had with it is that it is getting nowhere near the rated speeds of 60mb/s read and 25mb/s write, its more like 20mbps read and 10mb/s write on a good day. that being said its a decent cheap card, but I wouldn't buy again.

5 out of 5 eggsCheap and great!

Pros: This card has been great used it in my DSLR. Canon XTi works flawlessly with RAW images. I just love to reading speed. I can instantly view the pictures that I just took on my computer or camera without lag.

Cons: NON

Other Thoughts: cheapest CF out there.

3 out of 5 eggs"Removable Media" only

Pros: The price/performance ratio of these cards is fine, and I haven't had any failures with the three of them I own.

Cons: I purchased these cards to boot Linux on some old Pentium IV micro ATX boards I had around. Unfortunately these cards are reported to the BIOS as "removable media". Many boards are capable of booting from removable media tagged flash memory, but many more are not. I found that the much faster (and much more expensive) SanDisk cards (N82E16820171416) work on my old machines. Oh well. They're functioning fine as backup CF cards for my Canon 5D

Other Thoughts: The write performance on these cards is nothing to write home about. The read performance is better, but I wouldn't call it 60MB/s maybe 30 sustained. For the price, they're fine in some applications.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat with CF to SATA adapter

Pros: Reasonably priced, good choice for a CF to SATA adapter and great service from Newegg.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I used this card in a cheap CF to SATA adapter as an SSD alternative. It is running in a Giada Cube Atom 1.6GHz box as an Ubuntu 11.04 MythTV frontend. The read speeds doubled over the previously installed hard drive to 50 MB/sec when tested with hdparm.

2 out of 5 eggsNot for Pro Photography

Pros: Works well, no issues with losing data or formatting.

Cons: Slow, this is not a 400x (60/mbps) card. Delays in viewing images immediately in camera, especially when taking a lot of pictures. I would guess it's closer to a 100x card if that.

Other Thoughts: Card works fine, but they should re-evaluate the speed and put the correct speed on their product...I am very disappointed with this card because I bought for the speed factor and it is simply not very fast. Go with a better name brand if you are taking pictures with this card.

5 out of 5 eggsIndustrial performance, consumer price

Pros: Intended to use this as a poor mans SSD on an old computer. It is working just fine with a notebook IDE to CF adapter. Installed the system partition and a linux partition. No problems. acts just like a Hard Drive.
DMA 5
No Noise.

Cons: Cost with CF to IDE adapter is more than a comparably sized USB, but with a computer that won't boot from USB... It's great.

5 out of 5 eggsa fast 8G for cheap

Pros: Inexpensive and, so far, reliable.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Installed a new Mythbuntu backend to the card and so far it's working like a champ. I hope the price comes down some more. This is the perfect size for a boot drive (with some extra room just in case).

5 out of 5 eggsBoots reliably in old and new PCs

Pros: Boots Linux/PE/DOS in both PATA and SATA Syba adapters in ALL the PCs I throw it at.

My 300X Sandisk 4GB is faster, but doesn't boot in all of them despite Sandisk's reputation.

Cons: None. Cheap. Works. If it dies one day I'll buy another one, but since I use it for troubleshooting I don't want an expensive card.

Other Thoughts: Memory has an "infant mortality" rate. If you get a bad one just return it.

If you want screaming fast CF cards for pro work, buy screaming fast CF cards for pro work. (They boot nicely too, but at that price point you can buy complete SSDs instead.)

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Card@

Pros: Amazing Speed! Very fast, and always reliable!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I am a professional photographer, I use the Canon 7D which is a very fast camera. this card performs better than my Sandisk Extreme cards! (latest extremes, much more expensive than this card.) I Will be purchasing more of these. I have been using this card for several months and it is my favorite card out of several. Will try a 16gb next :)

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great as a poor man's SSD

Pros: Boots Ubuntu 10.10 in 15 seconds from grub selection to music playing. I guess that is good. Don't remember linux loading like that before. Installed in on a cheap chinese CF to SATA adapter that I puchased directly from hong kong.

Cons: I had to sacrafice nearly an entire twenty dollar bill to buy it.

Other Thoughts: Running on a rather anemic HP DV2945se laptop. I'm sure a REAL SSD would outperform it but for the price it can't be beat as long as your storage requirements are nil. I keep multimedia files on external storage. I figure that setup will minimize battery drain when i'm on the go.
