1 out of 5 eggsWaste of time and money.

Pros: It works.

Cons: It works extremely poorly. I got better transfer times over USB 2 using a low-rent generic card reader from Best Buy than I got with this thing over USB 3. I get spectacular transfer times with my USB 3 flash drive, so the ports definitely aren't to blame. It even halved the transfer times on said flash drive. I took a look inside it with a flashlight, and it turns out the actual unit is almost half the size of a credit card and the usb cables are just regular male/male cables plugged into usb ports. Looks like they're sticking the same board in multiple cases and pushing it as different products to me. Regardless, this thing was a waste of my money and the time I spent testing it to verify as much.

1 out of 5 eggsdo NOT get this if you use CF

Pros: Part of it works.

Cons: I bought this because I'm a photographer and my cameras use Compact Flash cards. I have other memory cards as well and they all work (SDHC, Micro SD) so I guess all other card slots work. I even put my friend who has a Sony's Duo stick in there and it worked. But the main reason I bought it was for my CF flash cards as those are the ones I use most with my professional cameras. I went on their website and it says that it doesn't need drivers so there was nothing to download. COMPLETE waste of money.

5 out of 5 eggsworking fine in W8 x64

Pros: all card slots work fine with write and read speeds. only use class 10 or uhs-1. usb 3 port works perfect, so far , performance is comparable to rear usb 3 integrated into mobo

Cons: none, so far, will see how it holds up

Other Thoughts: see many complaints about compatibility with windows, mine works fine in windows 8 x64

my mobo is the ASRock FM2A75 Pro4-M FM2 AMD A75 (Hudson D3) HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard and i made sure i updated all usb drivers and bios before i installed this unit

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: none

Cons: It only works every other time and even then it has to be re-installed. By the time I got tired of dealing with this card reader it was to late to return or exchange it. It also takes up two usb 3.0 ports.

Other Thoughts: I don't think the device was defective, I think that it doesn't work well with windows7. If you take it apart it has two nice usb 3.0 cables inside to use with something else.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as it should

Pros: Plug N Play and does exactly what it says it will do. Gotta love that.

Cons: Has a big ugly company logo on the face... don't love that so much. But if they build a good product I guess they have the right to put their name on it. I just don't like brands mucking up the front of my rig.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to work with a PCI card I was trying to use with an older MB. That product failed however so I just went ahead and upgraded my MB. This worked in the old MB (but the extra speed was not available due to my old MB), and it works in the new one with the enhanced 3.0 speeds. Buy it if you need it... seems very reliable so far.

2 out of 5 eggsCompatibility Problems with Gigabyte MB

Pros: Good performance of the card reader.

Cons: Compatibility problems with Gigabyte P55A MB.

When resuming from suspend, the MB hangs with no video out, the voltage regulator lights all lit, and the USB KB and mouse are unresponsive without lit LEDs.

Problem solved if the card reader is not plugged into the outboard USB3 sockets, but the power must be removed (PS switch turned off) to reset the hardware.

Gigabyte tested the board and found no problem. USB3 software drivers are current.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully this problem is limited to the Gigabyte MB and their version of the USB3 hardware interface, and won't affect your system. Otherwise I really like the card.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Everything

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I built a new office pc housed in a Corsair Graphite 600T mid tower case. This is exactly what I was looking for, for my camera flash cards. I also bought the SilverStone FP55B Aluminum Front Panel 3.5" to a 5.25" Bay Converter and the Koutech Dual Channel SuperSpeed USB 3.0 PCI Express Card (2x internal) Model IO-PEU232.

With the referenced PCI card you don't have to use your internal 3.0 header or lose any rear 3.0 ports. Installation was a snap and looks good.

1 out of 5 eggsBad design

Pros: Good card reader but...

Cons: The idea that you have to sacrifice two usb 3.0 ports in the back of your unit is just ridiculous. I was aware of doing this when i purchased it and thought it would be okay but i have an external harddrive i didn't think about and having to have wires coming out of a case is just not very eye catching especially when those wires run through the whole case that includes by the video card and processor. Just a hassle
