3 out of 5 eggsMostly did the job

Pros: Card reader portion worked with everything I tried.

Cons: USB port died, inconvenient installation.

Other Thoughts: As with others here, I found the installation process (feeding a USB cable around through the back of the case) utterly inconvenient, and wound up purchasing an extra USB port card (with internal ports) for one of my M/B's slots instead.

As a professional photographer who downloads a lot of images to my computer, I found the product worked flawlessly as a card reader on any variety of card I used, including the new 64GB SDXC cards. Unlike the experience of one of the other reviewers here, I had no problem with CF cards, either.

The only flaw I had with this card was the "extension" USB port, which simply stopped working a few months into use. I tried removing and reattaching the cables, but it was clear that this wasn't a connectivity issue, but that something in the circuitry had failed, leaving the port dead. Fortunately, I had other front-panel ports on my case, but it was a definite inconvenience.

4 out of 5 eggsJust what I needed

Pros: 3.0 speed
Takes all card types
No issues with windows recognizing

Cons: The USB 3.0 is a through the case design and plugs into the rear, I took off an egg for this because I think a internal usb connection would be cleaner.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Worked since day one, infact all Koutech readers I've purchased are still working.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've purchased about six 2.0/ 3.0 Koutech card readers over the past four years and the've all worked the they should.

4 out of 5 eggsSeems to be doing fine

Pros: The usb 3.0 works (all I have tried so far)

Cons: The 1 usb3.0 is powered by 2 usb 3.0 from the back of the case

Other Thoughts: I dont know, There are 2 usb 3.0 cables & an sata cable to connect so I am thinking 1 of the usb 3.0 is powering the sd card reader??? I am pretty sure the sata is for the esata...8>)

1 out of 5 eggsBad Drive

Pros: None

Cons: I just had my son built a computer for me and he bought this exact reader. After the rebuilt, I occasionally wouldn't be able to get into windows or bios. Many, many hours of frustration in trying to isolate the problem device and many times of cmos clearing and re-flashing bios, I found out that it was this card reader that was the culprit. As soon as I unplugged the two usb connectors from the back (making it unusable)then I no longer had any problems; I could get into BIOS and my Windows 8 OS. The thing is, that the driver insulation from the CD would always come up an error if I tried to install it. I tried using a camera card and it worked find when I did. I just had problems if I tried to restart my computer half the time. My device manager never recognized it. I just wanted to share my experience. Also, a lot of users on a site commented that they received their reader DOA. And there are no drivers to download on the company's site.

Other Thoughts: Don't Buy!

4 out of 5 eggsWorking Well

Pros: Moved my USB 3 ports to the front of the tower where I could use them easily. Added support for reading SD cards. Looks good. Metal case mounts securely. Plug n Play with Ubuntu :)

Cons: USB port is upside down so I can't see the light on my memory sticks - minor.
SD cards just plug in about a cm without the click/latch I'm used to. Just doesn't feel very slick but it works fine.

Other Thoughts: My motherboard did not have the connector on the board for USB 3 that most of these docks and adapters need. This dock is perfect for me as it just plugs into the USB 3 ports uselessly placed at the back of the machine. Now my USB 3 ports are front and centre plus all the other memory card reading options.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: + It works

+ Looks nice

+ Covers all the formats most people will ever need

Cons: - None

Other Thoughts: For the price it really is a perfect addition to any PC, if you frequently use flash memory.

Having this use USB 3.0 really does make it much faster, read and write speeds are noticeably better.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: SD card slot worked. Looks great.

Cons: CF card slot was dead on arrival. Just as others have reported. Now I have to pay to ship it back to get my purchase refunded. If you have a big case the USB cables are not long enough to be routed out of the way. They have to be run strait thru the middle of the case. I have a Corsair Obsidian Series 550D

Other Thoughts: I should of read the reviews and not looked at the overall egg rating when purchasing as the CF card slot is the main reason for the purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsover 7 months, still perfect

Pros: the koutech pcm630 works great in w8 x64, and w8.1 x64. It has the REALTEK RTS5176 chipset. I found the latest drivers from "station drivers". That driver is version 6.2.9200.30166 , date 27 Aug, 2013. There is a firmware upgrade as well, however, I have not completed that as of yet.

I purchased this unit because besides being a card reader, it also has a usb 3.0 port, so it adds an additional usb 3.0 port to the front of my case.

I no longer have any usb 2 devices, haven't had any for almost a year now, so i cannot give performance comparisons, except to say i am extremely pleased with the usb 3 port performance, and the performance of the card reader as well. Performance varies widely from device to device, but on the usb 3 front panel port, my flash drives range from 70mbs to 120 mbs. For class 10 , uh1 sdmicro, it can be anywhere from 10mbs to 40mbs for the cards I own. the best performers have been from Gskill and Samsung.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: great unit
