5 out of 5 eggsReliable

Pros: Intel's SSD has been reliable and worked great with both Windows 7, Ubuntu 10.04 and Kubuntu 11.04 (not that there's a difference). There was a noticeable improvement in boot time after first switching. Boot times remain snappy.

Cons: I didn't really notice a difference after I actually got into the OS. Loading up applications seemed to take about the same time in comparison to my desktop without an SSD.

Available space is rather small, but that's typical for SSDs.

$ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 35G 9.6G 23G 30% /

Other Thoughts: It started out in my Lenovo S10-3 and I eventually moved it to my Lenovo X120e.

I purchased this SSD to protect myself from mechanical failures,. Most of my past HDDs in laptops have ended dying and clicking.

5 out of 5 eggsElite product

Pros: This got a 5 Star for the complete and satisfying performance of this SSD. I am currently using with ASUS M4A87TD motherboard, along side a AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition Callisto 3.2GHz with 3 total cores (unlocks to a x4 B55). Newegg won't show me as a verified owner due to the fact I bought this from a local Computer Retail store (Gotta support the little guys!). I was very surprised to find that this particular SSD lists different read/write speeds than I have. I used AJA system test and the results were great: Read = 203 MB/s, Write = 67 MB/s. Intel must have sent out a majority of defective drives because this thing ain't lying! I have Mac OS x 10.67 along side Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, I still have 6.79 GBs left with Microsoft Office 2010 installed. The write speed for both averages around 58 MB/s.

Cons: This SSD is not supplied with a Sata 6.0 cable. Also, I own a 10 Gigabit NIC card that, after speaking to IBM, is not compatible with this SSD as of yet. Their Tech support engineers are going to write me Bug/Patch though! Will update this after they get it to me.

Other Thoughts: This is the SSD to own if 1) You are tight on your budget 2) Just starting to look into SSD 3) Want to run multiple OS' without latency 4) Are a vivid gamer that can't waste $400 on Intel's gamer SSD 5) Have VMware (vSphere 4.0 for me), or directly connect to different Computers/Servers alot. I truly cannot say enough that would justify the humble satisfaction I have for this, if you are EVEN thinking about buying this, DO IT!

1 out of 5 eggsVery Disappointed

Pros: Pretty fast - when it worked!

Cons: Random boot problems, would have to hard boot the system up to 4 times to start this up

Other Thoughts: I purchased (from BB) this drive to use as boot drive in multimedia workstation at church. Took the first one back after it died (3 days) tried a replacement, and, while it worked, it wouldn't always want to boot up, sometimes taking 4-5 tries to start without hanging.

When I researched, it was a common problem. I hoped for a firmware upgrade - but they hadn't upgraded the firmware in almost 2 years! Obviously, the cheapo drive with no support whatsoever!

Since I can't wait all day for a drive to boot, it went back to the store--no more Intel for me!

(I heard later they have now release a new firmware upgrade, but I'm soured on Intel's laggy support, and will look elsewhere for my next SSD)

5 out of 5 eggsSSD on the cheep

Pros: It is a reliable SSD for a cheap price at a decent size for certain applications depending on the build.

Cons: SSDs are still costly. Just enough for windows 7 and a few programs. Formats at 37.2GB or there a bouts.

Other Thoughts: You have to know what you want out of a computer if you put a small SSD in it. We use ours as data entry points and general office duties. We also have a SAN for Data storage and discourage people from storing data on their local hard drives.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for nettops!

Pros: Just built an all in one PC for a physical therapy lumbar extension machine and I wanted it be as industrial as possible a minimize moving parts. The PC was a slowish atom based PC running XP pro on a domain, so I wanted something to make it appear snappy. This SSD was the key component that makes the system very usable, highly available, and reliable for the long term.

Cons: XP pro took about 15 minutes on the install, slower than I expected, but the write speeds do lack across the board when comparing to other SSDs with Sandforce-based and Barefoot controllers.

Other Thoughts: I built a totally silent, fanless, touchscreen All-In-One PC as a kiosk interface for a lumbar extension machine that now has NO moving parts thanks to this SSD. Great product, and affordable. I didn't really care about TRIM support since it basically just sits at the desktop running a simple app 24/7/365.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Reliable
- Good write speed

Cons: - Small capacity
- Slower write speed

Other Thoughts: Bought this for an Intel Atom mini computer for my father's office, running Windows 7 x64.
If you use this as a boot drive, make sure to minimize the amount of writes to the drive in order to improve performance and preserve the durability of the flash.
If you have a lot of RAM, you can disable the page file. You can also disable hibernation, windows search indexing, and even move other write-heavy operations to an alternate drive.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast, Silent, Cool. Small(physically)

Cons: Pricey, Small(capacity)-But you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: I am using this as the main drive using OSX. It is plenty to hold the OS+ main applications. Moved the home folders and all content to larger rotating drives. Runs quite boots fast.

1 out of 5 eggsabsolutely disappointed

Pros: windows experience data disk transfer rating went from 5.3 to 7.0

Cons: Okay so i bought this at best buy using the price match for 69.99+ tax. I told myself it was a great deal for an SSD and was real excited to reformat and compare speeds to my WD green 640gb platter drive. The ssd was a little bit faster but i was so disappointed. The gain in speed was not worth the 73 dollars. It was hardly noticeable. With write speeds only 35mb/sec too it wasn't really that much faster than my platter drive. I returned my SSD to worst buy after 5-6 days or so. I plan on going with the Mushkin due to the blazing fast read/write speeds. I suggest you do the same.

Other Thoughts: for the price this is probably one of the worst SSd drives in terms of performance you can get.
