The high-performance storage for notebook and desktop PCs, Intel X25-M, is now made on 34nm NAND flash memory featuring the Intel Solid State Drive (Intel SSD) Toolbox. With sustained sequential read speed up to 250MB/s and write speed up to 70MB/s (80GB drive), the Intel X25-M mainstream SSDs are designed to satisfy the most demanding gamers, media creators, and technology enthusiasts. These drives bring a high level of performance and reliability to notebook and desktop PC storage, at a fraction of the cost of the previous generation of Intel SSD products.

  • newegg SSD Storage Technology Unlike traditional hard disk drives, Intel SSDs have no moving parts, resulting in a quiet, cool, highly rugged storage solution that also offers faster system responsiveness. And for laptop PCs, the lower power needs of Intel SSDs translate to longer battery life and lighter notebooks. Higher performance with more durability means you can be truly mobile with confidence.
  • newegg Better Performance & Reliability Based on industry-leading compute-quality 34nm NAND flash memory manufacturing processes, Intel X25-M mainstream SSDs feature native SATA II interface with an advanced architecture employing 10 parallel NAND flash channels equipped with multi-level cell NAND flash memory to deliver outstanding performance. With powerful Native Command Queuing to enable up to 32 concurrent operations, Intel X25-M SSDs deliver higher input/output per second (up to 35000 IOPS for Random 4KB Reads) and throughput performance than other SSDs on the market today. These drives also feature low write amplification and a unique wear-leveling design for higher reliability, meaning Intel drives not only perform better – they last longer.
  • newegg Intel SSD Toolbox with Intel SSD Optimizer The Intel SSD Toolbox with Intel SSD Optimizer provides a set of applications to easily manage the health and optimize the performance of your Intel SSD. The Intel SSD Toolbox includes a powerful set of management, information, and diagnostic tools, and is designed to work best with 34nm Intel SSDs. The Intel SSD Optimizer utilizes the new ATA Data Set Management Command (Trim Attribute) to help maintain your SSDs performance at "fresh-out-of-the-box" levels, and is specifically designed to run with Microsoft Windows 7. The Intel SSD Optimizer also works with Microsoft Windows Vista and XP operating systems as well.
  • newegg 2.5" Form Factor The Intel X25-M is specifically designed for notebook computers coming in a 2.5-inch hard drive form factor. In addition, the installation kit includes a 3.5” adapter for matching with 3.5” drive bay to extend the storage of your desktop computer.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: I have nothing positive to say at this time.

Cons: While building up a new computer and in need of a hard drive, a friend suggested Newegg. As a first time visitor I spent hours getting familiar with the site I was drawn to an 80 GB Intel SSD that was clearly to small for my needs and out of my budget but seemed to be clearly advertised with a substantial Intel rebate. Infatuated with the claimed advantages of speed, reliability and low power drain plus rebate adjustment seemed to justify experimenting with the purchase. The rebate clearly stated limit 2 per household. I deducted that 2 80 GB SSD drives might meet my needs for the computer I was building. So clearly by clever advertising I was seduced into buying a product that I had no intention of buying when I went shopping. Things really went south when I one day received an email from Intel declining my rebate. I seemed to imply that I used the wrong form and could resubmit within 30 days, and it directed me to a new form of the same # that seemed to say no rebate payable. Not und

Other Thoughts: If it sounds to good to be true..........
Good luck you other rebate customers. Just be prepared to be disappointed!

5 out of 5 eggsOver a year and still kicking

Pros: It's fast and reliable. I use it as a boot drive and have a few programs on it, which opening is near instant. This drive has been in my PC since October 2010 and I haven't noticed any decreases in performance and no hiccups.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsQuick Little Drive

Pros: - Fast
- Small
- Comes with 5.25" Adapter Plate

Cons: - None

Other Thoughts: Bought this drive to run Win7 Ultimate. Has been running well for the last year. Bootup on the EVGA board is a bit slow (has nothing to do with the hard drive) but once you're past post this thing zips. Win7 will recover from Hibernation or Hybrid Sleep before you can even look away from the power button.

After installing Win7 and all system drivers I have about 20gb left. I'd suggest redirecting your TEMP folders (and your user folder) to another drive to increase longevity of the drive. Not to mention, my TEMP folders can reach 20gb quickly which the drive simply cannot handle. If you choose not to do the above, then I would suggest the next level up - 120gb.

5 out of 5 eggsIntel X25-M SSDSA2MH080G2K5

Pros: Fast. Reliable.
Intel's "data migration" software provided with the drive is fantastic! Really great software and I have to give them props for including it...for free.
Hopefully this drive lasts me a long time, as I'm very happy with it's performance and quality.

Cons: None.
So far I have had no problems with this drive. Not a single blue screen. No hick-ups. Nothing.
The drive's capacity is my problem. I purchased a drive that is too small for my needs. My problem. Can't deduct eggs when the product as sold has no flaws.

Other Thoughts: I really thought I could deal with the lower capacity for the price. A month later and I wish I'd spent just a little more for at least a 120gb drive.
80gb is fine if you use it as an extra drive, but it is way too small for a primary drive. I have my OS installed along with two games and am at "maybe" 10% free space left. Nothing else on the drive.
Kicking myself now and pricing a new drive already. Luckily I have another 300gb drive to dump data on in the meantime.

5 out of 5 eggs80GB X25-M

Pros: The setup was very easy and the OS install started up right away. NOTE: Using an Intel board and a Windows OS that supports TRIM.

Cons: Required some research to get the partition sized properly. I used a 25% over-provision strategy and left approximately 20 GB unpartitioned on this drive to allow the disk to use wear-leveling to maximize long-term performance.

Other Thoughts: I am using this 80 GB drive as a system disk in a Hyper-V server running Windows and Linux guests. The server boots in seconds and the guests fire up fairly quickly. The guests are running on 7200-rpm drives and data files are on a RAID-1 array. i deliberately do not store guests or data on the SSD to prevent unneccessary writes. I may purchase another SSD for guests later on.

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: It makes Windows 7 feel faster. My computer takes a long time to boot up because of other things, but once it's there, this makes loading programs almost instant.

Cons: Write speed isn't that great. Don't use it for much other than an OS disk.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Drive

Pros: I've had this drive for almost two years. It's served me well and has not been problematic in my Macbook Pro. Speed degradation exists, but that's only because OS X does not support TRIM. The drive is noticeably faster every time I wipe (using Intel's utility) every 6 or so months.

Cons: Intel utilities are Windows-only. I'm reaching for complaints here.

Other Thoughts: They've since upgraded the SSD line, but this is still a good product in the early years of consumer SSDs.

1 out of 5 eggsGood While It Lasted

Pros: Fast as you will need for years but died after 7 months.

Cons: Died after seven months. Intel's RMA is like a black hole. They have yet to acknowledge receipt of the faulty drive after a week. Intel's website and customer service is horrible.

5 out of 5 eggsGoing back to get another

Pros: Fast, quiet, and low heat.

Cons: Only 80 GB.

Other Thoughts: I bought this SDD for my new gaming rig about 6 months ago and it's still running fast. I used to miss the start of a game, and now I'm usually the first person to enter a server on COD:BO or L4D2.

Unfortunately, after installing Windows 7 and about 6 games on it, I only have a few gigs left. I was hoping that the price would've come down quite a bit over that 6-month period, but it's only dropped about $10. I've decided to wait a little longer to get another drive and run in RAID 0.
