The high-performance storage for notebook and desktop PCs, Intel X25-M, is now made on 34nm NAND flash memory featuring the Intel Solid State Drive (Intel SSD) Toolbox. With sustained sequential read speed up to 250MB/s and write speed up to 100MB/s (120GB and 160GB drive), the Intel X25-M mainstream SSDs are designed to satisfy the most demanding gamers, media creators, and technology enthusiasts. These drives bring a high level of performance and reliability to notebook and desktop PC storage, at a fraction of the cost of the previous generation of Intel SSD products.

  • newegg SSD Storage Technology Unlike traditional hard disk drives, Intel SSDs have no moving parts, resulting in a quiet, cool, highly rugged storage solution that also offers faster system responsiveness. And for laptop PCs, the lower power needs of Intel SSDs translate to longer battery life and lighter notebooks. Higher performance with more durability means you can be truly mobile with confidence.
  • newegg Better Performance & Reliability Based on industry-leading compute-quality 34nm NAND flash memory manufacturing processes, Intel X25-M mainstream SSDs feature native SATA II interface with an advanced architecture employing 10 parallel NAND flash channels equipped with multi-level cell NAND flash memory to deliver outstanding performance. With powerful Native Command Queuing to enable up to 32 concurrent operations, Intel X25-M SSDs deliver higher input/output per second (up to 3,5000 IOPS for Random 4KB Reads) and throughput performance than other SSDs on the market today. These drives also feature low write amplification and a unique wear-leveling design for higher reliability, meaning Intel drives not only perform better – they last longer.
  • newegg Intel SSD Toolbox with Intel SSD Optimizer The Intel SSD Toolbox with Intel SSD Optimizer provides a set of applications to easily manage the health and optimize the performance of your Intel SSD. The Intel SSD Toolbox includes a powerful set of management, information, and diagnostic tools, and is designed to work best with 34nm Intel SSDs. The Intel SSD Optimizer utilizes the new ATA Data Set Management Command (Trim Attribute) to help maintain your SSDs performance at "fresh-out-of-the-box" levels, and is specifically designed to run with Microsoft Windows 7. The Intel SSD Optimizer also works with Microsoft Windows Vista and XP operating systems as well.
  • newegg 2.5" Form Factor The Intel X25-M is specifically designed for notebook computers coming in a 2.5-inch hard drive form factor. In addition, the installation kit includes a 3.5” adapter for matching with 3.5” drive bay to extend the storage of your desktop computer.

5 out of 5 eggsSSD

Pros: Fast

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: At the time I bought this, it had the lowest failure rate of any ssd. 120 gigs wasn't the biggest out there but was one of the best.

2 out of 5 eggsWatch "4myrebate" offerings

Pros: SSD good.

Cons: Came with purported "4myrebate" $30 scam rebate via card. The scum "4myrebate" people process by removing the attached barcode and obliterating "Orig barcode -->" hand writing before scanning in the document. They they say it was not sent and deny the rebate, thus STEALING from the customer.

Other Thoughts: When I get cheated on an MIR, I CEASE doing business until the theft is rectified. In this case the involved parties are 1) and 2) Intel and 3) Well maybe I won't quit the newegg habit but I will jolly well ignore any and all MIR offerings as garbage.

5 out of 5 eggsZoom

Pros: Extremely fast. Eyelid peelingly fast. Ridiculous fast.

Cons: it's expensive relative to conventional hard drives.

Other Thoughts: you will never experience a PC upgrade that makes as much of a difference.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Had it 5 months so far, and no problems. Was easy to install, and all the tests I ran on it showed correct speeds.

Cons: Price, but you already know why.

Other Thoughts: Fast, though I think maybe I expected a too much. I tested it thoroughly and it lives up to what its supposed to do, but I wasn't really blown away in the day to day use. Maybe my perception is off, but considering the MASSIVE amount of storage you can get for the same price, i think many people should still look at hdd's first. This is still a luxury item.

1 out of 5 eggsIt's somewhat fast...and then it crashes on you.

Pros: It is faster than my HDD.

Cons: It worked okay at first, but then it developed bad clusters over and over. Each time, I had to use windows to mark parts of the drive as unusable. Eventually, it wiped out my folder with all of my photos. I really should have made a backup of this folder, but I didn't and now 9/10's of my photos are gone. I wish I had never bought this piece.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if I just got unlucky with this. However, I have owned several Kingston SSD's and nothing like this ever occurred before.

5 out of 5 eggswaqited till I could not wait any longer

Pros: Fast on write and read. Easy to install. Just read the instructions. I have had it in daily heavy use for 6 months. Not a burp. Get, read and use the Intel Tool Box. Go for it! Good Luck

Cons: none ... OK, my limit must have been reached on "Other Thoughts". so here I continue. It removed the raid setup and all other drives and setup Win 7 64 as a fresh install on the SSD. Except for one change in the BIOS, which is mentioned on Intel's SSD info page, ALL went without a hitch. Then I installed the Kingston as one of my document drives and the raid drives as separate drives. Its great to have one drive setup for system backup's and image.
I am very happy I made the jump. I will continue upgrading to SSD equipment as time and money offers. I'd suggest this to anyone interested in the best performance gain for the buck. (I am not a gamer. I'm an engineer, designer. Lots of number crunching.
OH, The Kingston is slow but its SSD. I save spread sheets and data base files on it. All loads quickly and doesn't give strange feedback.

Other Thoughts: I have been reading and studying the SSD world and knew eventually I would pop for one. But when. As always we wait for the next issue and then think I there will be another one soon, and so on till we drive ourselves crazy...can you relate?
I have been expanding peripherals from my GIGABYTE EP45-UD3P as my basic platform. Win 7 - 64bit. My initial drive setup was 2 500GB platter drives in RAID 0. I was happy enough with Intel Q9400 (lots of room to play), G Skill Memory (2-2x2GB DDR2), ATI Radeon HD4800 series card, and my desire to still extra noise, So I built a quieter case than I ever had.
The first SSD I bought was a Kingston SSDNOW 30GB. Of course not enough for an OS. I was going to install it as some secondary drive but was not into it. I was still looking for a main OS SSD drive.
Then Intel came out with this medium sized drive, Intel SSDSASM120G2GC ATA- a 120 GB SSD Drive. I waited to see if the price would go down further, it did, I missed it, and went ahead and bought i

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

Pros: Drive is very fast, easy to install, added about forty minutes to my laptop battery life.

Cons: Small. Hard to transition from huge mechanical drive to smaller SSD.

Other Thoughts: Overall, great buy, has added about forty minutes to my Lenovo ideaPad y560 battery life. Would do it again, perhaps should have gone for the 250 GB drive.
