2 out of 5 eggsProblems

Pros: Wicked fast. Was able to install windows 5 times in one hour.
games loaded in seconds instead of minutes

Cons: i recived one worked got windows installed failed when trying to load 8.1 so reloaded windows, had to reload windows 5 times than ran fine until trying to play AC4 then that failed so reloaded AC4 failed again ran Intel ssd toolbox failed so RMAed. got another started to play AC4 again failed, so returned a second one i'm done with the 520 series. both had intermittent problems and nobody was time for that.

Other Thoughts: it was nice while it lasted. hopefully Intel will create better sdd or at lest

5 out of 5 eggsFast, reliable SSD

Pros: This is my 6th Intel SSD and I have them working for several years and still not even showing sign of wear on the Intel SSD toolbox software. The 5 years warranty is a plus considering the normal drives now come with just 3 years the most and for some reason they are failing more than ever.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: If you really want to enjoy one of the best upgrades you can make to any computer you have to try an SSD, your boot time will be 15 - 20 seconds, programs will load instantly, rebooting is speedy as you will not believe and windows updates, installation of programs and even installing your operating system will be extremely painless.
If more space is needed just add a normal hard drive for data storage and enjoy the speed.
If your laptop does not have a 2nd HDD place you have 2 choices, replace the DVD rom for an HDD or simple move the replaced hard drive to a portable USB enclosure. Windows with most programs installed will take less than 30GB that leaves you with plenty of space on this SSD.

5 out of 5 eggsFastest and most reliable SSD you can own

Pros: I own 2 of these 520 series Cherryville's and a 330 series Maplecrest 120gb. Intel makes the fastest SSDs!!! I have had one for over 2 years and I loved its performance so much I ordered a second. Don't bother with the 530 series you want the CHERRYVILLE 240gb SSD

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Running reliably since July 2013. Put in W530 with about 15GB of writes per day. Love the performance I'm getting out of this drive.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Linux Mint + LUKS + several layers of EncFS.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD, pick one up for your OS drive

Pros: Awesome performance. Inspiring warranty, regular firmware updates. GREAT value for the current price point as of Sept. 2014. Intel's SSD Toolbox can auto-configure your computer to work best with their SSDs and automatically schedule TRIM operations (Google it if you don't know what this means).

Cons: Absolutely none, other than the OEM version comes without any mounting brackets for larger internal desktop-case bays (like a 5.25"), and you need to BYO SATA cable.

Other Thoughts: I regularly build low- and high-end computers for friends and friends of friends. I wouldn't say that I make a business out of it, but I'm known in circles as being very good at what I do and so get a lot of word of mouth. That said, when it comes to a budget-priced, reliable, high performing SSD, I put Intel into a lot of my builds. And before you look at all the benchmarks comparing SSDs, believe me when I say that for 95% of users, every SSD out there performs exactly as the rest. Benchmarks are synthetic numbers that push limits that regular consumers will never approach.

Summing up, I heartily recommend this to my customers, friends, and you, Constant Newegg Shopper.

5 out of 5 eggsFast Ssd! have owned it for 2+years

Pros: Bought this Sandforce controlled Intel Ssd when the 520 series first came out. Still works like new, and is faster than my Maplecrest 330 series 120gb.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good on 3x240GB RAID0

Pros: Very Fast especially in Raid0, yes i know this is overkill but my games library is over 600gb on steam. This is just for games because of the insanely quick load times. I will not exceed 75% of drive space since trim is gone, but regular garbage collection will do its job in idle. I did alot of research and for raid0 comparisons i saw this excel. This is on an AMD Board, I have my CPU OC'd to 4Ghz, with 8GB ram, will be upping it to 32 soon, unless i decide to get a new board. The 965BE is very stable and the SSD's worked from jump. I couldnt be happier

Cons: So far none to really speak of, of course this may change.

Other Thoughts: I am waiting for the 512GB drives to drop in price, go with2x raid0 on that instead of just a single TB SSD because of the increased speed overall. I hope the same can be said about the 512GB drives. will see

1 out of 5 eggsAwful

Pros: It was fast, loaded windows in mere seconds

Cons: Took a dump in less than a year

Other Thoughts: since this unit failed so quickly I would not recommend it.

1 out of 5 eggsALL 4 FAILED

Pros: All outweighed by Failure Rate

Cons: Failed. I purchased four of these drives for use with the Black Magic HyperDeck Studios. I formatted the drives properly, used them for about a month when randomly one of them just stopped being recognized, by my gear or even Disk Utility. Tried everything but I couldn't get it to show up anywhere or reformat, and then the same thing happened with the 2nd drive. Sent them into Intel for Warranty Replacement, they sent out 2 new ones. One of the 2 new ones wouldn't format through Disk Utility, had to do a COMPLETE zero out on that drive to get it to format (in simply Mac OS Extended Journaled). Then this morning, one day after getting the replacements, I plugged in my older two drives (which literally have just been sitting on a desk for 2 weeks, not used at all. And NOW THEY WON'T BE RECOGNIZED. Can't reformat them, won't show up in Disk Utility. These drives have nothing but the worst failure rate. I've been using SSDs for a few years now in many capacities but have NEVER had this many issues with one particular brand.

Other Thoughts: I've used these in multiple settings and systems, they've all failed. At different times, in different conditions.

5 out of 5 eggssolid

Pros: Intel reliability is what I bought this for.

This is a boot drive in my storage server which has 16 to 24 hard disks. Also run VMs off this SSD; great IO for those.

This drive reports SMART data that tells the total reads and writes for the life of the drive. Good info to have!

Cons: Bulk transfer speeds are not as high as other SSD's, but randoms are good.
