5 out of 5 eggsBlazing Fast!

Pros: This thing is "off the chain" fast. I'll never own a traditional hard drive for anything but storage again. I can't say enough good things about this drive. It's fast and works. Installation was a piece of cake and it took the Windows 7 Image I created to migrate the date without issue.

I bought this to replace an OCZ SSD that died on me. This is running on an i5 with 16GB of RAM. Boot times are sub 10 seconds, not included the BIOS splash screen. Opening programs is virtually instantaneous. You barely have time to see the Microsoft Office splash screen when opening programs like Word or Excel.

I also recommend installing the Intel Solid State Toolbox. It provides diagnostic and health information for the drive. It also allows you to manually run the trim on the drive, or you can set a schedule and have it run automatically.

If you move from a HDD to a SSD, there are some things you'll want to do such as over provision the drive, disable Hibernation, manually set a page file size, etc. A quick search of the Internet will turn up tons of information that will help optimize the drive. It's not required that you do these things, but recommended.

Oh, and just remember, never ever run a disk defrag program on a SSD.

Cons: Size. At 120GB, this drive is small. But SSDs aren't really designed for storage and are best when used as boot drives. This is perfect for a client / file server environment, or when you pair it with a 2 or 3TB traditional HDD.

Other Thoughts: Although more expensive than some of the other SSDs on the market, I feel the price is warranted. I've owned OCZ drives and both of them failed within the first 6 months. I also own a Samsung, which is in the same price range as the Intel and have not had any problems with that drive either.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is what you want!

Pros: Fast! Decent size and redefined my laptops experience.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Upgrade for my 5 year old Inspiron 1420n.
Lost 40GB from a 160GB 5400rpm HDD, but got mad speed! This combined with a memory upgrade makes me think I'll never get another traditional laptop again because by the time this feels slow there will be much better pseudo tablets like the surface (but w/o windows 8 plz) Don't miss the space, learning to love the cloud and streaming. If your laptop doesn't have an ssd, make this your next purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid and Sooooo Fast

Pros: This is the absolute best SSD I have ever used. I have purchased 50+ of the 520 series for close to 2 years now in several different sizes and have not had a problem with any of them. They are extremely fast and have been very reliable for me.

Cons: Wish they would get cheaper.

Other Thoughts: Looks like Intel is bringing out the 530 series and not making the 60 Gb 520 anymore. Newegg so far is not carrying the 530 and this concerns me.

2 out of 5 eggsFast but unstable

Pros: Very fast. It can boot to windows in seconds and resume from sleep instantly.

Cons: Very unstable. Maybe I just got unlucky but it has bricked on my three times since I've gotten it. Each time has needed to either have windows entirely reinstalled or set to a restore point. I've tried two different versions of windows, different sata headers on the mobo, and different drivers for the various hardware and it keeps happening. It lasted about a day the first time, 2 the second, and a week the third.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well so far

Pros: I bought this drive to speed up my games. I'm very satisfied with the improvements.

Its been about a year and it has shown no sign of failure. That's the part I'm happiest about.

Cons: Having to buy adapters for my 2.5" drive bays is a bit of a hassle.

Other Thoughts: I had previously been suspicious of SSDs because of their initial bad rap for unreliability. I've owned two for a while now and they're still going strong

5 out of 5 eggsWOW - WOW

Pros: Makes your PC a rocket.

I build a lot of machines for clients. Their needs are MS office, email, browser. nothing too fancy.

I started using these for new builds. As they don't have much need for local storage, the size being small is OK.

For a few extra $$, I have no mechanical disks, power consumption is reduced and best of all, the machine is so dang fast, they all think they've got the most powerful computer money can buy.

Using and i3 with 4G PC1600 and Internet explorer or chrome will start like you're opening notepad. Put an i7 with 8G in for the accountant. quickbooks works like lightening now. And, after all, she pays my invoice ;) so that needs to be the fastest machine in the place.

For this purpose, I'm going to switch to using these all the time. Just makes sense.

Cons: cost / space is still a little high.

Other Thoughts: Can't wait for higher capacity drives!

5 out of 5 eggsNever buying anything else

Pros: The speed and effeciency of these Cherryville SSD's is truly breath taking. Downloading is a breeze and loading windows in 5 or less seconds is a fun bonus to show off.

Cons: Wish they grew on trees

5 out of 5 eggsNever Going Back

Pros: Fast!

Cons: Pricey. But worth the premium in my opinion.

Other Thoughts: It's as fast as they say. The old X25 version of Intel's SSD used to be kind of buggy when waking from sleep mode. The 520's seem to work perfectly. Never want to run my OS from the old type of hard drives again. I'm replacing all of the hard drives in my office, and everyone loves the speed and performance.
