5 out of 5 eggsGreat product for the money

This review is from: Intel 335 Series Jay Crest SSDSC2CT240A4K5 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Light weight SSD 240 GB Drive
fast
works well with a budget priced external enclosure

Cons: None that I can see so far.

Other Thoughts: I needed a reasonably fast access time for an external drive when I am on the road. I doodle out compositions on my MB air 11, so I get by with limited samples, but I need them not to slow up the process any further with a disk drive. This little 240 GB SSD was built for laptops and work stations, but it fits great in a little Star Tech enclosure and connects with USB 3.0.
I needed some cross platform access as well, so I formatted this drive as ExFat, one partition, with Master Boot Record. Works well with Apple and PCs.
Mission accomplished.

This review is from: Intel 335 Series Jay Crest SSDSC2CT240A4K5 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Roomy enough without having to be expensive, quality build, at $135 good price point when bought.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Comes with product specific Acron*s cloneware. Replaced my old *amsung bootdrive that had become too small in a matter of minutes.

5 out of 5 eggsZoom zoom!

This review is from: Intel 335 Series Jay Crest SSDSC2CT240A4K5 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: This is my first SSD and I must say that it accesses the information faster than I can double-click. Works like a charm.

Cons: Absolutely none.

Other Thoughts: I wish SSDs were more affordable and had a bigger capacity for what you pay for, but eh, it's worth it!

5 out of 5 eggsWoah

This review is from: Intel 335 Series Jay Crest SSDSC2CT240A4K5 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: If you are like me and are debating on whether or not to shell out the extra bucks for a SSD, DO IT! This thing is lightening fast. OS X Mavericks boots up in about 2 seconds, straight to the login screen. I did the research before buying, and upgrading to a SSD beats adding more RAM.

Cons: Cost

3 out of 5 eggsAwful migration software

This review is from: Intel 335 Series Jay Crest SSDSC2CT240A4K5 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: It's Intel

Cons: The migration software does not come on the CD, but a download link is provided. The migration software failed to detect the drive on two different computers, one laptop which it was purchased for and one desktop. I called Intel tech support and they said try EaseUS partition master. No attempt to resolve the problem. I was told "software engineers" are working on the problem.

Other Thoughts: This drive was manufactured Aug 13 2013 and they are still working on migration software? Obviously not a priority for Intel. Buyer beware. This is the 28th SSD I have installed, but the first Intel branded drive. Samsung includes the software, Adata, Kingston, Crucial, Mushkin all provide links to migration software and all performed flawlessly. I bought 2 of these, and 2 is all I will buy. All the previous SSDs I have purchased perform very well, so I don't think the Intel SSD is worth the hassle

5 out of 5 eggseasy install

This review is from: Intel 335 Series Jay Crest SSDSC2CT240A4K5 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Came with everything I needed and installed without a hitch.

Cons: Not the largest or fastest SSD for the money, but I'm willing to pay for the Intel brand name since they're known to deliver longer lasting products than some of their competition.

Other Thoughts: Smooth sailing under Windows 7 Pro and Ubuntu 14.04.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful.

This review is from: Intel 335 Series Jay Crest SSDSC2CT240A4K5 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Jay Crest took me from lower-end SSD into a new era of trust and speed. Perfect drive. Intel does not mess around but of course we all know that.

Cons: I only grabbed 1 when it was on sale. I wish I would have bought 10.

Other Thoughts: Intel drives are pretty standard and consistent in benchmarks, they are fast and darned reliable. Here's my dilemma, an easy fix that does not warrant taking an egg away:

Intel needs to understand that Link Power Management can differ from motherboard to motherboard, and while the software solution is handy, it can cause problems whether or not LPM options are available outside Intel's application. I have two of these, and in both running Windows 8 and 8.1 I have to disable LPM in the registry AND in Intel's smart connect app. If you have an Intel SSD and notice sluggish response (folder contents not appearing INSTANTLY, games loading slower than you expect) you need to disable LPM. I honestly don't see why a SSD would even need this option, but unfortunately with the software, you can only disable LPM for ALL of your drives. It takes a bit of registry work (easy with youtube tutorials) to disable it on a per-drive basis. If you have other options for drive power management, use those, and don't install Intel's software. Not the drive's fault in the least, I highly recommend this drive to anyone.

5 out of 5 eggsIntel 335 SSD

This review is from: Intel 335 Series Jay Crest SSDSC2CT240A4K5 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast, rock solid...It's Intel!

Cons: None to think of

Other Thoughts: Loaded Win 8 Pro 64 bit in minutes. Off she went. My lap top loads super fast, in like less than 10 sec. My laptop is a rock star now! Lower power consumption means increased battery life.
