2 out of 5 eggsBeginning to fail in new computer

Pros: Good speeds
Extremely lightweight

Cons: Not reliable
Feels / looks cheap

Other Thoughts: This drive worked well in my old laptop and tested with reasonably good speeds. However, when put into my new computer in RAID 0 config, this drive repeatedly failed and crashed my computer while the other ADATA brand SSD had no issues.

This drive is failing with hardly any use and after a very short time. Therefore I would not recommend it to anyone despite the low price.

3 out of 5 eggsInstallation issues

Pros: Price - Got this for $80 here at Newegg

Includes transfer cables, clone software, mounting bracket

Speeds up boot up/shut down times, apps open faster

Cons: Clone software - I cloned the OS partition of my old drive to the SSD but for some reason I could not use either drive to boot up afterwards. It seems the boot files somehow got messed up and the only fix was to use the Windows install disc and its repair function, which is fine... if you have the install disc. Luckily I was able to [legally] download one online on my laptop. If the software was just cloning the OS partition then I have no idea why the original partition could get messed up because I couldn't boot off of it after when the SSD wasn't working. Perhaps this issue could have been avoided if I used a different software.

System freezes - I'm not sure if it's an issue with the drive or with Windows 7, but I've noticed the system freezes more often than when I was on a regular HDD.

Other Thoughts: While boot times are definitely faster, I'm not getting 4-second star ups. This probably has to do with the fact that my system's a few years old though.

Installation was definitely a huge pain in the behind and there were many headaches but things were better once the drive was finally up and running.

I've got the SSD connected to a SATA 3 6GB/s controller card since my motherboard didn't have enough SATA connections and was limited to 2GB/s. I may try connecting it directly to the mobo sometime to see if that helps reduce the system freeze issue though.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: Came with a clone usb adapter and software. Had the drive copied and installed in under 30 minutes. A great out the box experience.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: It also came with a 3.5 bay adapter that was a very solid piece of metal could be a good heat sink if you need it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: Kit included tray for easy install on a PC. Installed on an HP EliteBook 2540p and Windows 7 HDD perf rating went from 5.9 to 7.9. This is my 3rd SSD and very pleased with it especially with the heavy discount from Newegg.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The thin form factor made it very suitable to install on a SATA conversion optical tray on HP EliteBook 2540p.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: -SATA to USB cable

-SSD to HDD Mounting bracket (Good if you don't have one)

Cons: -Cloning Software

-SSD feels cheaply made

-Payed for this defective SSD, and have to pay for to have them fix it! (had to pay to ship it)

Other Thoughts: The SSD came in and I spend 2 day trying to install Windows 7 to it (using Genuine install disks, USB with .iso, and even downloaded .ISO's from internet) every time they failed half way or near the end of installing.

After that I tired installing a fresh Windows 7 to my own HDD then clone that fresh install to the SSD using the software that came with it. Every time I attempted to clone it, about 98-99% it would fail to clone.

Finally I used Acronis True Image to clone my HDD to the SSD and it was sucessful, I removed my HDD from my PC and installed the SSD and it booted up and ran properly!... after about 10 minutes my computer popped up a blue screen and restarted and would not boot properly and would only show a message like "No operting system installed"

I think the SSD was defective and I shipped for RMA (having to pay for the shipping too! so even more money spent), Will update review after I receive the new one and if it works properly. So far, very Unhappy.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is the same as the Q-series drive, THNSNH models.

Pros: Price, performance, value added install kit.

Cons: Size could be bigger, 9.5mm thickness a problem for ultrabook installation. Why aren't SSDs consistently priced at 50c/GB yet?

Other Thoughts: The previous poster indicated this has a SandForce controller, but that is incorrect. The THNSNH drives have a Toshiba branded Marvell controller that runs highly optimized Toshiba firmware. The tests show this drive to compete very well with other top tier models. I am installing this drive in a system I'm building for a friend. I will update after some use and testing.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Drive!

Pros: The Toshiba Upgrade kit - a nice drive and parts for the price! I purchased this at a B&M store for the price of 89 bucks. This includes the drive, sata cable, plate, usb>sata dongle and molex>sata power plug. This drive uses the SandForce 2281 controller - which so far has been pretty stable. This drive replaced my brother's 500GB HDD and what a world of difference! But before putting it in his PC, I tested it out for a week in my PC as a Game installation drive (my D drive) (playing BF3). Everything loaded up fast and perfectly fine.
I heard that the Toshiba NAND chips on this drive were pretty good as well.

Cons: The provided imaging s/w...? See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I didn't use the cloning s/w that Toshiba provides. Honestly, I've never trusted a cloning s/w that you install on your harddrive, run it and reboot and run the imaging piece of it. It's never consistent. Maybe it's me? However, I use Paragon's Disk Copy s/w and boot from a DVD boot disk (or USB) and this has always worked like a charm! Though it's not free.
Overall, very happy with this SSD.
