4 out of 5 eggsSanDisk Extreme 8GB CF Cards

Pros: A great card for professional Photographers!
Fast and Reliable.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I don't know what happened, but it took a full 14 day to be delivered! Was get a little worried about that.

5 out of 5 eggsLove my sandisk

Pros: Fast, reliable, and awesome!

Cons: None. So i bought 2 more!

Other Thoughts: Seriously, i trust sandisk 100%. Never had a card fail. I shoot a lot and have never had an issue with a transfer yet. Unlike other card brands.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality card for quality gear

Pros: Operates as expected in Nikon D700. Reliable storage with decent write speed. Frame-to-frame delay 1-2 seconds shooting NEF + mid JPEG is reasonable but ONLY occurs once camera's frame buffer is full.
I own several 8 GB cards from different manufacturers and can't see much difference in speed of writing from buffer. These cards are all UDMS 5 or better rated.

Cons: None - not free?

Other Thoughts: Quality digital cameras have large frame buffers that will hold 30 or more frames, depending on shooting format (shoot low-res JPEG and you get what - 100? so?). I shoot NEF + mid-res JPEG (records a NEF image along with a JPEG. The JPEG is good for quick sorting of images on laptop; the NEF is for serious work with photo software. SanDisk memory units are reliable and reasonably priced for what you get. This is not the highest rated card I have but my camera doesn't seem to get much more out of the higher speed cards, either.

I prefer to keep several memory cards in my bag - four 8 GB, three 4 GB and a few old 2 GB for emergencies. This seems like a better setup than one 64 GB - if that card fails I'm out of luck - and I get 250+ NEF images on an 8 GB card - after 30 years of shooting roll film with 36 exposures/roll, this is heaven - still.

5 out of 5 eggsBit pricy, but soo worth it.

Pros: UDMA CF cards are some of the fastest cards available on the market. If you're considering this card, and are willing to spend the $$$ on it, you will most likely not be disappointed.

However, as noted, please be aware.. the performance will depend entirely on your gear (camera or otherwise). Just because you buy a Ferrari engine, and have it mounted in your Gremlin, doesn't mean it's going to perform like a Ferrari.

Do everyone a favor, and ignore the 'Scamdisk' comment below... the user based their review on an unrealistic expectation. Additionally, I'd encourage everyone to research the equipment you're using before investing highly into it.

Cons: Price. As with any current UDMA type CF cards, the price is a bit steeper than normal CF. For some, the speed these cards produce, will not outweigh the price.

Other Thoughts: If you're a professional photographer that uses an of the prosumer to pro level camera bodies, do yourself a favor.. and try to find another local photographer to check the UDMA speeds out. For some photographers (like myself), the longer speed bursts will be beneficial.

For example, I occasionally am asked to do some player shots for sports teams. Starting your burst of photos as a player begins their movement can occasionally turn into disappointment, as you start your review process. Sometimes you'll get a shot that would have been great.... if you'd JUST caught those last few moments...

The ability to snap your shots off.. without ever having to worry about a red LED telling you to 'wait' is amazing.

4 out of 5 eggsNice card, good price, decent performance

Pros: Very fast. Took off one star because, well, nothing's perfect.

Cons: None yet. Didn't get it from NE so I payed a few bucks more.

Other Thoughts: Will probably pick up a few more of these.

Please ignore the post below that knocks this card. The tech level of understanding should have been set to somewhat low on that post.

This card performs as advertised in my 7D.

4 out of 5 eggsKnow your equipment!

Pros: Fast read/write speed when used with UDMA-enabled cameras and card readers.

Cons: Not immune to people not knowing the capabilities of their equipment.

Other Thoughts: Card is rated to 60MB/s, but probably won't achieve that in most cameras. However, in cameras and cardreaders that aren't UDMA-enabled (like the previous reviewer's XTI), speed will not be any better than much cheaper cards.

1 out of 5 eggsI don't know where they pulled 60MB/s from. Lies.

Pros: 8GB of storage

Cons: Price & Speed
I tested this in my Canon XTI and saw zero increase in write speed from a cheap 4GB Transcend card (That was $10 too.)

I did some benchmarks of my own and this thing is no where near what is advertised.

18MB/s Sequential Read
16MB/s Sequential Write

I feel ripped off. I have a 4GB Transcend card that was $10 two years ago and it gets close to those speeds.

Last time I buy a SanDisk product.

Other Thoughts: More like ScamDisk.
