Cons: had this for less than a year, first moth was great after started getting bsod, after three months my comp was completely unstable. created 2 partitions first was unstable so i removed and reinstalled os to the second my ssd was now half the size it should be. 1 week ago system lockup and ssd is unrecoverable. in the process of rma with sandisk .

5 out of 5 eggsBreathes new life into older laptops

Pros: Using this drive for about 1 year in an old Dell XPS m1210 laptop (SATA 1.5 heh) with dual boot WinXP and Linux partitions. Noticeably faster than previous 7200rpm hdd.

-- Stable performance after 1 year of heavy daily usage involving data processing and numerical simulations
-- No installation problems
-- Noticeably faster boot times for both OS's
-- Noticeably faster file and program access
-- Silent, cool

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I'm still paranoid and backup data very frequently, but the drive has not had any issues thus far.

1 out of 5 eggsQuit after 8 months

Pros: Fast boot time and overall performance boost to older Windows XP laptop - while it worked.

Cons: After 8 months of operations, the drive quit responding and would lock up the computer. I removed the drive and checked it out on my desktop as a secondary drive and indeed, after working for a few minutes it would simply stop responding and WinXP would report 'device not ready'.

SanDisk's SDD Toolkit shows no SMART failure mode, and I even upgraded to the latest firmware, but still the same thing, stops responding after a few minutes.

SanDisk tech support suggested that the problem 'may' be due to Windows XPs misalignment of the partitions and lack of TRIM support - but this is really just a performance hit and should not kill the drive after 8 months.

SanDisk suggests completely reinstalling WinXp, but this "would provide a temporary solution to your issue". Temporary - about another 8 months?? No thanks.

Other Thoughts: Unless you have Win7 or newer, and a motherboard with AHCI support, I would avoid SanDisk drives. They have very poor drive support, as compared to my experience with Seagate, and they have obviously not addressed the issue of compatibility with WinXP.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Complaints

Pros: - Nice SSD
- Easy install, the BIOS recognized it right away
- SSD Performance (faster boot ups, shutdowns, etc)
- No firmware updates needed
- Proven Sandforce controller
- Quiet, low heat footprint & energy efficient
- Fits into a standard 2.5 inch mounting bracket

Cons: - Not a lot of cons
- Only SATA II (but I got a 4 yr. old PC anyway)
- 240GB is a bit of an atypical size
- Need to buy a SATA cable to connect it to your motherboard

Other Thoughts: I've owned it for over 6 months and it has performed without any issues. I would buy SanDisk products again.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh overall

Pros: It's an SSD so there's that. It is quicker than a HDD.

Cons: It died on me after 8 months. It locked up one day and I rebooted the PC. No problems. The next it locked up again never to be heard from again. The drive is not recognized in any PC. It is totally dead. No shock, no virus. Just kaput.

Other Thoughts: It was inexpensive when I got it. But now that other drives have dropped in price I am going to look elsewhere. I am very unhappy. I expected a smaller company like SanDisk to produce a better product since they need to work harder to obtain new customers. I was wrong.

1 out of 5 eggsDied after 8 months

Pros: Fast while it worked.

Cons: This drive died after 8 months. Got a blue screen one day, rebooted and it worked, following day it would not boot OS. Tried hardware cloning the drive and it would get about 80% done and then hang up for hours. Tried chkdsk after booting from CD and it said the drive was busy with a process. Appears to be junk now.

Other Thoughts: I had another SanDisk SSD which worked fine, only replaced it because it was too small.

1 out of 5 eggsRisky drive

Pros: Very fast, improved system performance a bunch.

Cons: Unfortunately the drive puked in 2 months. There were a few reviews that had the same problem, but I thought I might get lucky. Guess what, I didn't! The computer when into sleep mode and this drive never woke up.

Other Thoughts: The one thing about these SSD drives is, they don't give you any warning that they are going to die. I've had a hard drive or 2 that died, but they usually got a little suspect just before.

5 out of 5 eggsSSD Rocks!!

Pros: I purchased this disk for my laptop (Vostro 1015) I use all of the time. I did a clean install of Windows 7 from the Dell disks. The install went without any problems and I loaded all of my apps flawlessly.

My laptop has new life as the speed is very fast, the heat reduced, and the battery life extended about 2 hours (5 total).

The clean install assured that the disk was formatted properly and the system parameter like trim were installed by default.

The bottom line is that the SSD runs flawlessly, fast, and I did not need to do anything special to make it work properly.

Cons: Absolutely none.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent SSD

Pros: Great drive, easy to install, excellent performance (increased my W7 score by 2 points).

Cons: 240 GB makes it a tricky replacement for the more standard 250 GB drive sizes.

After I switched drives my laptop started crashing upon wakeup until I *enabled* hybrid sleep mode (which is the exact opposite of many suggestions I saw on the matter).

5 out of 5 eggsBest upgrade you can buy

Pros: installed in core2duo macbook pro - what a difference. I had tried increasing ram from 2gb to 8gb and didn't see much of an affect in performance. The ssd makes all the difference in the world. Boot times, app launching, everything is much faster

Cons: It's ~500gb less than my 750gb spinning drive
