Format exFAT or NTFS doesn't seem to make much difference. Takes around 20 minutes to read or write a 5GB file. Other Thoughts: Portable hard disks are relatively cheap much smaller than they used to be. Get one of those instead, unless you really need to put this much data in your pocket. One other thing, and this is important. There are zillions of counterfeit name brand thumb drives out there, especially large capacity ones. They can be very difficult to tell from the genuine article. They are built with substandard components, or in some cases they are 4GB drives altered internally to appear much larger. Probably the best way to avoid getting one of those junk drives is to stick with a reputable seller with a good return policy, like NewEgg. Did you find this review helpful?
