5 out of 5 eggsWindows 8.1 on a netbook

Pros: This sucker is fast! I stuck it in an old Netbook and now it boots and loads Windows 8.1x64 fast. Documents load in a flash.
This drive is super light, and uses very little energy.
Expect faster boot times, increased battery life, and a lighter computer.

Cons: It didn't work in a couple of my "test" machines. I'm guessing it needed a firmware update. If you don't know for sure that it will work in your primary computer, pronounced "only", don't buy it without an external SATA case, or a bootable disk to do updates from.

Other Thoughts: Gateway LT2802u with an Atom N455 and 2 GB of RAM
This netbook had a hard time running Windows 7 with a 250 GB Western Digital drive, now it screams with Windows 8.1.
The Atom N455 is a 64 bit processor. I figured this out when I loaded the wrong install drive on accident.
It's only 64 GB so I guess I'll have to sacrifice space for speed. Consider it done!
Also a side note: DO NOT DEFRAGMENT SSD's. EVER.
These things only last for a certain number of read/writes. Don't waste it on defragging. This will run way faster than any HDD even if it's uber fragged. Disable it in Windows so it doesn't kill your drive.

5 out of 5 eggsHuge Speed Difference

Pros: Configured as a boot drive for Win7-64bit (Windows 7 Home Premium). Boot time reduced from 60 sec to 15 sec. Plenty of room for the OS & installed programs if you keep your data on a separate hard drive which my desktop already had.

Cons: Provide your own or order 2.5" to 3.5" adapter if installing into a desktop.

Other Thoughts: Migration from existing 1TB HDD was easy with AOMEI Partition Assistant. I has feature "Migrate OS to SSD or HDD", which about says it all.

3 out of 5 eggsBeware the IOPS

Pros: Not an owner, but posting advice for would-be buyers.

Cons: Low IOPS (beware)

Other Thoughts: Note the IOPS rating (Input/Output Operations Per Second). This is a measure of how many OPERATIONS a device can perform. Similar to a harddrive's read/write speeds (measured in ms).

The issue here is that while the *data throughput* is high, the IOPS rating is very low compared to most modern SSD's on the market. Make sure you consider this when shopping. I suspect this accounts for some of the complaints on this product.

When you have low IOPS and high data throughput capacity, in a nutshell it means if you will be doing mostly disk reads/writes on large files, you won't see much difference compared to a SSD with faster IOPS. So, to you this SSD will appear to be quick. However, if your computer will tend to perform disk read/writes on many smaller files, you're more likely to feel this product performs average or poorly.

Why? The IOPS restricts your "bandwidth" to a limited number of connections per second. While the I/O throughput is also impacted by several other factors, I'm just pointing out when this SSD might be the bottleneck for your system.

If you are going to use this drive to boot Windows for example, you might not be pleased with the result. It will be slower than other SSD's with faster IOPS, because loading Windows involves mostly loading thousands of (mostly) small files.

If you want a drive better suited to booting Windows, check out Sandisk's higher-end SSD's with faster IOPS (or look at Samsung's drives - the benchmark standard).

I hope this helps someone in their buying decision! :-)

4 out of 5 eggsLow Price, Higher than HDD performance. Reliability unknown

Pros: Price is right.
I knew the read/write specs going in so I can't complain about them.
Very lightweight

Cons: Plastic enclosure

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent, but not for Boot

Pros: It's an SSD, so it is extremely efficient, no noise from it, super super super super super super fast.

Cons: Too Small for Windows 7 Ultimate.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this with the intent of making it my boot drive. Worked well, but with the amounts of updates that Microsoft is putting out for Windows 7, this drive is 95% full already after only 1 month of use.

** RECOMMENDATION: DO NOT USE AS A BOOT DRIVE, IT IS TOO SMALL**

5 out of 5 eggsFast'n'flimsy

Pros: Quite fast for a 64GB drive (those usually suffer a penalty in speed due to fewer NAND dies to stripe I/O across) both natively under Windows and in ESXi 5.5. About the least out-of-pocket expense for an SSD with a usable capacity (at time of purchase). I can't speak for its reliability, since I've only been using it for a couple weeks, but I expect good things given the record of my other SanDisk products. Very lightweight.

Cons: The casing is plastic, and it's not exactly a solid piece of hardware. Granted, it's going to be buried inside another machine, but if you're going to be moving it around a lot, take care not to pinch it too hard. The screw threads are sleeved with steel, so you don't have to worry about stripping out plastic threads, but I wouldn't torque them too hard.

Other Thoughts: Despite the cons, the drive's performance and sheer affordability make the flimsy plastic casing a more than acceptable tradeoff. All else being equal, I will always choose the less-attractively-housed drive if it meant saving money since none of my computers have windows, lights, or other nonsense in them.

4 out of 5 eggsno surprises

Pros: It's an SSD. It works. Cheap. Plug and play. Faster than a hard disk. Low power and minimal heat generated. Silent.

Cons: Small capacity, but big enough for some uses.

Other Thoughts: Works for me in a pfSense (BSD) firewall and in Linux mint.
If there are any advanced features (e.g. encryption) I didn't notice.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: -Speedy
-Gets the Job Done

Cons: -Not too much storage space

Other Thoughts: Great for booting. Very snappy SSD. I like to think of it as Samsung and Intel's little sister in terms of SSDs. While it may not be as fast, it still does get the job done

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

Pros: Fast & Cheap. Got it on sale!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: To me these SSD drives are great. the speed is a no brainer but does go down over time. That's why I reinstall every year!

5 out of 5 eggsSanDisk (SSD)

Pros: Super fast (7.5 on Win 7 test). Small. Quiet.

Cons: Not a lot of space but as an operating system only disk it does the trick and flies.

Other Thoughts: Had to buy a 3.5"--->2.5" adapter for my mini-ITX case to mount it properly.
