5 out of 5 eggsWOW!!!!

Pros: This thing is FAST!

Writing a 3.2 GB file took only 55 seconds. That's just a tad over 58 MB/s.

Reading that same file to a RAM drive took just 18.5 seconds....173.5 MB/s !!!

These are REAL WORLD numbers, not synthetic benchmarks.

Cons: It's pretty long. Hopefully low-profile 3.0 drives are on the way soon.

Other Thoughts: For $30, this is a steal. Thanks SanDisk.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good

Pros: Fast, nice plug slide out feature.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The push slider that exposes the USB connector is spring loaded and slippery. These 2 factors sometimes cause an accidental retraction of the connector while engaging the stick in a USB slot.. I would change 2 things: redesign the slider with rubber or rough material and possibly reverse its placement so it rides on the side opposite the thumb. This of course depends on your board design and front panel USB orientation. Otherwise a great product!

5 out of 5 eggsStill amazing

Pros: After a fresh FAT32 format to get rid of the bloatware, I tested copying a 2.4GB movie file (an in-game recording from Planetside 2):

Read: 131 MB/sec
Write: 60 MB/sec

I ran the same test on 2 different drives and got the same results. The Read speed started out fast, jumping up to 192MB/sec, but it slowed down at the end to finish at the listed value.

Cons: A little bigger in physical dimensions, and a little more expensive than the average (slower) flash drive.

Other Thoughts: I liked the first one enough to buy 2 more. This is my go-to model for flash drives. Nothing I've found even comes close to the performance.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply Phenomenal!

Pros: I was skeptical at first but make no mistake these flash drives are fast!

My files transfers are not in Kilobytes or megabytes but in gigabytes. So enough said.

This is a well built product and does not feel cheap in anyway. Nonetheless, people do complaint about specifics of product. but it makes you wonder how the product gets treated in the first place, xD

Cons: Not here.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Well

Pros: exceptional read speed. Exceeds specs

Cons: Nada

Other Thoughts: Replacing an older USB 2.0 Sandisk Cruzer. The old cruzer still works fine just not up to current standards. Kids will get it.

5 out of 5 eggsUbuntu 12.4 boots in 12 seconds

Pros: FAST - write ~5MB/s 4kB blocks compared with 0.15MB/s for my Patriot XT 32GB USB 3.0 .
Installed Ubuntu 12.4 (13.4 has issues on mu Dell XPS 17) as native OS. Boots in 12 seconds, excluding BIOS POST time. Fills like having SSD.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: It is shame that larger Sandisk USB Extreme drives has less than 5 eggs, I'd like to get 64GB but with 50% chance of being bad no way.

4 out of 5 eggsNot quite as advertised

Pros: Immediately recognized, very little crapware, no exotic partitioning.

Cons: Real-world tests come in far below advertised speeds; benchmarks come closer, but not by much.

Plastic case is huge; easily the largest thumb drive I own, which includes some nostalgic 256MB novelty drives. It's the biggest thing on my keychain.

Other Thoughts: Advertised speed: 190MB/s read, 55MB/s write
Formatted capacity: 14.9GB

Real-world tests:

Win7/Lenovo X220, 1,967 files, 8.05GB directory copy

Write: 230s (3m50s, 35MB/s) (-20MB/s advertised)
Read: 172s (2m52s, 46.8MB/s) (-143.2MB/s advertised)

Win7/Lenovo X220, 1,090 files, 5.45GB directory copy

Simultaneous read/write (duplication): 241s (4m1s, 33.4MB/s)

CrystalDiskMark

Win7/Lenovo X220, 1 pass, 4,000MB

Sequential
Write: 63.4MB/s (+8.4MB/s advertised)
Read: 176.4MB/s (-13.6MB/s advertised)

Random 512KB block
Write: 14.89MB/s (-30.11MB/s advertised)
Read: 114.6MB/s (-75.4MB/s advertised)

Random 4KB block
Write: 3.738MB/s
Read: 8.657MB/s

Random 4KB block, queue depth 32
Write: 1.291MB/s
Read: 8.856MB/s

5 out of 5 eggsgood performance

Pros: Meets it's advertised performance at 199MB/s read and 60MB/s write, which I consider impressive (not lying, that is). Good random read/write performance for a usb drive, which is very rare: 8MB/s 4k write speed (all other common measurements are faster).

Cons: There is no standard way to reset the drive to factory condition, so performance will likely degrade significantly with use. This is still probably the best drive you can buy value-wise, aside from the same model with larger capacity (higher sequential write speed on that), or a small ata ssd. I looked for such drives before buying this one.

Other Thoughts: I'm testing a brand new drive, and I won't wipe it just to see if it gets slower, because it might get slower. That's what professional reviewers are for. Sequential io will be slower over usb 2, but random io will still be fast, don't worry if you don't have usb 3.

5 out of 5 eggsSanDisk Extreme 16GB USB 3.0

Pros: Very Good so far. It looks like my old SanDisk Cruzer 8 Gb USB 2.0. The ATTO Disk Benchmark Write/Read were 62066/208493 max. with a 256 MB bench file.

Cons: None yet!

Other Thoughts: I ordered this yesterday and got it today with the 5 to 7 Day shipping!
