4 out of 5 eggsGood value

Pros: Low cost
Enough space for Win 7
Good speeds

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Bought this to run as the main drive for a bitcoin rig. Windows 7 installs at 11.5 gb (approx), which leaves a fair amount of room for any drivers or necessary software and updates.

It comes pre-loaded with this Ready Cache shenanigans, so just format the drive prior to your install of the OS. Simple.

5 out of 5 eggsGood SSD

Pros: Low price with good performance. I got it to use as a replacement drive in my old laptop. I used it with Ubuntu OS (Linux based OS) which gave it a really fast boot. My laptop overheated due to a fan failure so at work we had the idea to upgrade teacher computers to ssd drives due to slow load times of some applications.

In the system we are testing it in, the computer will boot to the desktop in about 30 seconds (depending on how fast you type in your user name and password). The applications we had problems with load much faster now (smartboard/smartnotebook software) and teachers can now have their system up and running in the morning in under 1 min 30 seconds compared to 5-10 minutes before. so instead of replacing older computers we can save money and give them a significant performance boost for under $50.

In case you are wondering, we are doing this on windows xp and using the ssd as the only hard drive and not a cache drive as it advertises itself. with win xp installed and all the applications and updates and office 07 teachers have about 15 GB of storage left which should be plenty.

Cons: none so far.

5 out of 5 eggsA good SSD at the price/size

Pros: Need a small drive to take advantage of your motherboard's built-in Intel Rapid Start Technology? This is the

drive for you. You won't find another small SSD drive from a reputable company at around the 50 dollar mark. For

others just looking to speed up their computer a bit without taking the full plunge switching over to a full SSD

then this works for you as well. Plug and play, after installing the software of course. ;) If you are tech savvy

enough, I recommend installing it without the software and using the IRST capability of your mainboard, if

available. Otherwise, the software works just fine and doesn't seem to strain the machine at all. I will admit

that I haven't tested the drive on a lower powered machine though, so your milage may vary...

Cons: With the cache drive, windows boot up is quick and app/program launch times are nearly instantaneous. However,

don't expect any difference when transferring/copying files. That will still be the responsibility of your

mechanical drive. There ARE much faster SSD drives out on the market. But I give this item 5 stars for what it is

meant to do at its given price point. Again, 50 bucks will allow you to dip your feet into the waters of SSD

drives. Is it worth it to you? Only you can answer that... ;)

Other Thoughts: One note of caution: While installing this drive into a family member's machine, I ran into a problem that seems

to be plaguing many others. That being that the drive would flush itself after rebooting from a full shutdown. It

seems the solution, at least under Windows 8, is to disable the Fast Startup feature under Power Options>System

Settings. Click on "Choose what the power buttons do" in Power Options which is found in Control Panel or just

search for "power options". You will find the check box there and you might also have to click on "Change

settings that are currently unavailable" if you find that it is grayed out. This seems to be a known issue with

Windows 8's hybrid Sleep/Hibernate startup feature. Disable that and you should be fine. Windows will still

swiftly resume from Sleep and boot up fairly quickly so you might not even notice that much of a difference

between checked and unchecked since if it isn't working with the ReadyCache drive it probably isn't working as it

should without it.

5 out of 5 eggsCut half loading time!

Pros: I had a planning doubt about using an SSD for caching, but today I've lost it all. Windows and all of programs load 2 times quicker. In fact, before installing it, loading for windows was of 47 seconds, after, 23 seconds! Pretty cool, without mentionning the instant boot for programs and games. SSD caching rocks, for the price it worth the candle!
The other point is that a 3.5 inches bracket is included in the box wich is a good thing. It's cheap but for wath it's made for, it's perfect!

3 out of 5 eggsMonkeyPig says.....

Pros: never really achieved advertised speeds. So i partitioned for my pagefile and readyboost. Now I can see the improvement.

Cons: The caching program is a failure. It doesn't back itself up so if there is a sudden failure or power interruption the cache is lost.

Other Thoughts: I had hight hopes for a improvement with this item till i acculally used it. Since i repurposed it as a pagefile and readt boost it seems i have a new machine.

5 out of 5 eggsReally Works Great

Pros: Does a great job of spooling up your applications, as well as speeding up boot-time and shut -down.
For the cost, it's worth every cent.
I always incorporate them into my new builds, gives the system that extra boost.
I would highly recommend and will continue to buy them myself.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: all i can say is that it's so worth it, you'll see a difference over time,
try this: use it for a week, then remove it and you'll see the difference , i bet you won't waste any time getting it back in , lol

4 out of 5 eggsGood ssd, not great caching device

Pros: This is a great and cheap starter ssd. The express cache software that it came with worked great at first but then I started having problems after about a month of use but I'll get to that in the cons. I reformatted it and used it on a spare computer as the main drive and it seems to work fine like that. Works great as a separate drive for a linux boot or if you don't need a big main system install drive.

Cons: I'll start with the small problem first. If in any way the computer this drive is intalled in, as a cache drive, gets shut off in a manner that's not proper, such as power outage or force restart, the cache gets entirely erased and you have to start fresh. Not a big deal on its own, especially if you have battery back up or are very careful with your computer. The main reason I don't like this is it caused bigger problems once my next complaint with this drive started occuring.
The big problem I ran into at least once a week after about a month of having this drive installed was my computer randomly liked to freeze up on me. I had the latest version the of the express cache program installed and it still seemed to do it. Not sure if it was some incompatibilities with my computer or the program itself but I'm fairly certain the drive is fine since I have it in another build and it works fine as a main drive. As soon as I removed this drive though my computer was fine again so I know it wasn't something else causing it.

Other Thoughts: I have Windows XP installed on it in my spare build to play some older games and the system boots up in about 30sec from a cold start with a Athlon 64 X2 5000+ processor and 2gb DDR2 ram. I had linux ubuntu on it at one point as well and that took even less time to boot. Never timed it though.

1 out of 5 eggsnot worth it.

Pros: sped up system usages when it worked.

Cons: frequent disc boot failures with windows needing to repair itself. only way to make that stop was to disconnect the cache drive each time. got tired of of it today, reformatted and using as a storage device. my treasure trove of textures ( jpg-tga ) never loaded faster. 1sec. for 1gb whereas within windows you would watch each texture load.
sandisc needs to come up with new drivers to fix my problem and some of the others I have read.
desperately need to be able to select what "cache" get's deleted. that way no need for it to decide to clean itself up.

Other Thoughts: thought about rma but for $39 I'll take the hit and maybe it will be a better storage drive and won't aggravate me that way.

don't miss not having a cache drive.

makes me think twice about buying an SSD and makes me think twice about buying this brand name again. sorry, but you guys did it to yourself.
