5 out of 5 eggsgreat ssd

Pros: Works great everyday since a year, as a ssd.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Got it free with Asus RT-N56U. What a deal???!!! I formatted it and use it as a Linux mint 17.1 (for now) main/boot drive in a media pc behind my Sony big screen.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat solution

Pros: Cuts boot time (50 to 55 secs), very fast loading of games, apps. No glitches that I can detect.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Excellent solution if you want to keep your big HDD. Not as fast as SSD alone but darn close. Bought one for my brother!

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Does its jobs well as a caching drive and installation of the hardware and software is a breeze

Cons: Wish the software was more customizable and able to allocate the cache to specific hard drives like ROMEX's Primo Cache software allows. You can use it with third party software but why not include it in this one?

Other Thoughts: Good buy if you want to give your mechanical hard drives a little pep without the hassle of setting up a caching hard drive manually.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable, Linux-friendly

Pros: Fast, reliable, cheap.

Cons: Only 32Gb, but you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: I initially bought one of these to replace my Kingston 64Gb SSD that only lasted a year. Since then, I have bought 3 more of these in the past few years with no problems or failures. These are perfect for your operating system + a few games to live on, or for a small server. I have also used one to replace the hard drive in my netbook, giving very favorable results.

These are also extremely Linux-friendly. I currently host 2 Debian servers, each using one of these SSDs. I have never encountered an incompatibility issue due to these SSDs.

Overall, I am very pleased with these drives, and will continue to purchase more of these for future projects.

2 out of 5 eggsHot Mess

Pros: It is cheap, easy to install and boosts performance when it actually works correctly..................(see "cons")

Cons: but most of the time it crashes/freezes your computer or whatever game you are playing. it takes awhile to fill up the cache for a boost but if it gets too full like past 26gb it RESETS and clears the cache. if you restart the machine, you lose the cache. if the UI decides it was not installed correctly out of nowhere it RESETS the cache. if the cache gets too full it will slow down your boot speed also. You are pretty much at the mercy of the horrid software as to whether you cache anything.

Other Thoughts: If you are a gamer or power user this is not for you if you run lots of HDD intensive programs because it will fill up the cache then dump it all over and over and the benefits are lost. if you politely check email and edit word documents for your sunday book club then this will be a good upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsSaved My PC...

Pros: Made My PC Faster, more reliable.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I wasn't sure about buying this originally but I've just ordered 2 more for a couple of HTPCs.

The first one I bought was for a computer I built a few years ago on the cheap. Its mainly just an email and browse the web PC but it was getting really sluggish.

My options were to rebuild... or to upgrade the ram but DDR2 is stupid expensive so I decided to give ReadyCache a try and it worked like a charm.

4 out of 5 eggsv1.3.2 has problems with Windows 7.

Pros: It's a great caching SSD when it works. It increased my boot times dramatically from 30 seconds to 1 minute, down to under 10 seconds. Desktop startup time is much faster as well.

The GUI is also simple to understand, and simple to use.

32 Gbs of space is enough for Windows to boot, but read my cons for an issue with this.

Cons: If you go to the forums for this product on SanDisk's community website, you'll see that it has problems on Windows 7. I can attest to that.

When trying to use the full 32 Gb partition to cache on, the cache will randomly reset, and cause Windows 7 to boot -slower-. This seems to be when the partition is over 16Gbs full, so I re-partitioned the SSD to 16 Gbs. It's working fine now, but I don't have the full 32 Gbs as advertised. It used to work just fine, but version 1.3.2 ruined it.

Games also have problems when caching is active, such as lockups and lag spikes. It's simple to fix though, just by disabling caching in the ExpressCache program.

Other Thoughts: If SanDisk figures out how to fix this caching software, it's a great product. At the moment, though, it's current software causes it to not work at all.

I wouldn't recommend it for Windows 7 at the moment, but apparently it works fine for Windows 8 and 8.1!

5 out of 5 eggsChanged My Mind About This Product

Pros: Does work as described and it greatly increases the speed of my Win7 64 bit machine. I am happy with it. Please see other thoughts.

Cons: Could the also offer a 64G version?

Other Thoughts: I previously gave this product only two eggs because it would reset the cache every time I booted into another operating system that also resided on the drive that I was caching. Now that I have moved the system that I am caching onto it's own hard drive, the drive no longer resets it's cache when i boot into another operating system. I make sure that none of the other operating systems touch the drive upon which the cached system is residing by hiding in the boot manager and removing drive letters. If those points are followed, then the cache resets will cease, and it will work for a multiboot system.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as a standard SSD under linux.

Pros: Works as a standard SSD under linux

Cons: None at this time.

Other Thoughts: Bought to be installed into a pfsense box, as I was planning to run Squid proxy on it. Works as expected, no issues detected.
