Pros: Better than the intels I replaced as of speed and price.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Bang for Your Buck, and It Is Smoking Fast

This review is from: SanDisk Extreme Pro 2.5" 960GB SATA 6.0Gb/s MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SDSSDXPS-960G-G25

Pros: This is an unbelievable value at the current prices and I wish I had some extra cash to get some more right now. Speed-wise, these Extreme Pros are right up there with the Samsung 850 PRO. Most drive reviews have these two drives as #1 and #2 in this class and while the 850 PRO usually comes out on top, your mileage may vary. In straight up CONTINUOUS and sustained data transfers, these Extreme PROs will outperform just about any other drive out there in the 2.5" SATA III form factor. With a 10 year warranty, I feel my investment and data is safe for the long haul. The included Sandisk SSD Dashboard software is really nice and can independently see each drive, monitor their health, speed test, and update their firmware even when they are in a RAID array. This makes me comfortable in using these in a RAID 0 array.

Cons: The only negative for these drives is that they lack the built-in hardware encryption that the Samsung drives have. So if you were to use these in an application, such as a laptop, that really needs encryption then you will have to utilize Windows' ability to software encrypt on the fly using CPU clock cycles. This is no problem with a modern i7, but if you're running a single or dual core CPU then you may notice a slowdown in overall system performance.

Other Thoughts: I have one 960GB and two 480GB Extreme Pros and would really like to add to that collection while they are still this cheap. I read that Sandisk is preparing to come out with a newly upgraded model that will likely have built-in hardware encryption, but they will cost you more. These drives are a hidden secret of SSDs right now in terms of price to performance ratio compared to the competition. If you are using software that requires high sustained rate data transfer, such as video editing or CAD and/or scientific applications, then these drives are great both as-is and in RAID 0 arrays. I recommend that if you are thinking about getting one or two, you better do it sooner than later. The current prices won't stay this low once SanDisk ramps down the production line of this model in favor of the next one.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic!

This review is from: SanDisk Extreme Pro 2.5" 960GB SATA 6.0Gb/s MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SDSSDXPS-960G-G25

Pros: I have this gem in my system along with a 840 Evo and 850 Pro and in real world usage and cannot tell any difference between them. I wanted this ssd in particular because of the 10 year warranty.
Also this is so much more reasonably priced than the 850 Pro is while both exhibit extremely similar performance. I can't think of a single good reason to get the 850 Pro over this unless encryption is a must.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat For Price and Size

This review is from: SanDisk Extreme Pro 2.5" 960GB SATA 6.0Gb/s MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SDSSDXPS-960G-G25

Pros: The Pro's of getting this SSD is, its the better bang for your buck if you're on a budget. Looking at Tom's hardware information about the difference SSDs out there. This ranked second below Samsung as it has a slightly slower read and write speed, but ranked higher in terms of pricing.

Cons: Con's would be is that its a shame that most HDDs, or SSDS, or any time of storage device doesn't give you the full ammount regardless. I had only 894 gigs out of 960.

Other Thoughts: I would definately buy another one when I get the extra money to do so. Sandisk's a great company along with the Others out there as well.
