5 out of 5 eggsPerfect physical size!

This review is from: SanDisk 64GB Ultra Fit CZ43 USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Speed Up to 130MB/s

Pros: Performance is better, in a USB 2.0 port, than a "screaming" USB 2.0 Flash Drive from Patriot that I really like.
Perfectly sized for tight clearances.

Cons: Pricey... well, it is a 64 GB USB 3.0 flash drive. Maybe it not so pricey after all. Still...

Other Thoughts: Bought this to use with a GIGABYTE GA-9SISL Mini ITX Motherboard, in order to to install and boot ESXi 5.5. Its installed in one of the two external USB 2.0 ports and is small enough that it doesn't block the adjacent USB port. The Gigabyte-9SISL motherboard list it as a bootable device and it works fine as such. ESXi 5.5 installer recognized it and is now the boot device. Works great.

Initially, I installed the flash drive in another machine with a USB 3 port, to clean it up, to clear the partition label and to do some general testing. I found this SanDisk 64GB Ultra Fit CZ43 USB 3.0 Flash Drive to be fastest enough for me and hoped it would work in a USB 2 port, without being a dog or having compatibility issues. I didn't have any issues and turned out to be a reasonable solution as a ESXi boot device.

2 out of 5 eggsAs advertised good price small form factor

This review is from: SanDisk 64GB Ultra Fit CZ43 USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Speed Up to 130MB/s

Pros: Small easy to carry around or just leave it in your laptop

Cons: Slow transfer speeds. I have to format the drive to NTFS to see if that will make a difference. I am getting an average write speed of 15 megs. Which is quite slow for a USB 3 drive. I formatted the drive to NTFS and write speeds doubled using that windows graph the speeds are anywhere from 10 megs to 60 megs but never constant. Although the file transfer was half of what it was at FAT 32. While transferring the drive did disconnect and it was probably because the drive got to hot. It wont transfer large files without disconnecting. I may return this of reformat it back to FAT32

Other Thoughts: Unless you get it cheap I would look for another drive as this one does not transfer large files without heating up and disconnecting

5 out of 5 eggsSimply awesome!

This review is from: SanDisk 64GB Ultra Fit CZ43 USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Speed Up to 130MB/s

Pros: Compact.

Cons: Compact (if you're prone to losing small stuff).

Other Thoughts: Love the fact that it's so compact that you can leave it inserted as an extra or ReadyBoost drive and it will not get in the way (though for ReadyBoost Windows will not address more than 4GB, I believe). Might be a little difficult to remove on some laptops depending on the USB port location and the chassis design, but it's a nice little drive with ample capacity for a great price. Data transfer is very fast so this little thing is simply awesome!

Other Thoughts: yes get all you need

This review is from: SanDisk 64GB Ultra Fit CZ43 USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Speed Up to 130MB/s

4 out of 5 eggsHot! Ouch!!

This review is from: SanDisk 64GB Ultra Fit CZ43 USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Speed Up to 130MB/s

Pros: It's tiny, so you can leave it in the port on a laptop. Makes it great for one of those low-capacity on-the-board storage laptops. It's USB 3, so it's fast.

Cons: It gets really hot on the underside metal. I bought the 64gb model over the 128gb because of all the reviews people wrote about the latter getting so hot - apparently they both get hot. Seems to stay hot even while idle. It's hot enough that I feel the need to pull my finger way from it to avoid burning myself.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my sister who has a HP Stream with only about 21gb of usable space (don't buy a laptop based on it's color). I moved all of her documents, pictures, and music to it and you couldn't tell the difference performance-wise.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate from my Jan 9, 2015 review

This review is from: SanDisk 64GB Ultra Fit CZ43 USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Speed Up to 130MB/s

Pros: Same as 11 Months ago.

Cons: I forgot to mention:
Same as 11 Months ago, except -- it does get hot when I listen to music from it for a few hours.

Also, gets hot when not being used in my front USB 2.0 slots. When in my rear USB 3.0 and not being used it gets warm but not hot.

Other Thoughts: I have 3 of these and they all run the same speed and have been reliable, except for getting too hot when being used in a USB 3.0 slot, or any to no use in a front USB 2.0 slot.

Motherboard:

Over 3 1/2 year old Gigabyte Z77X-D3H motherboard. I built the system in May 2012.

Great case cooling, HAF 922 with three 200mm fans, one 120mm fan plus the 140mm fan on the PSU set to run continuously [Seasonic Platinum Series].

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for my application

This review is from: SanDisk 64GB Ultra Fit CZ43 USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Speed Up to 130MB/s

Pros: Small physical size, good quality, reliable brand, USB 3.0

Cons: My application that could be a little bit smaller on the exposed portion of the drive. I really need to remove the drive so it could be smaller, but the radius of the grip is helpful in avoiding snags.

Other Thoughts: Used as a real-time backup repository for my girlfriends school documents on her laptop. Small enough to remain in the USB slot all the time when we travel.
