5 out of 5 eggsGood Reader

Pros: Metal construction is solid and takes a beating.

Looks better than 90% of other readers on the market.

Doubles as a coaster for your mug!(don't advise this lol)

Cons: The port on the back is a weak point... if the cable gets jarred while it's plugged in it can break the solder and then it becomes useless, and it wasn't really designed to be opened. Really if you keep it in the same place and never move it - it will be FINE, but if you're like me and take it everywhere in your camera bag... well it's going to get dropped eventually.

Other Thoughts: Really could use a standalone power connection, but works fine without in most cases.

I bought this roughly 4 years ago off Newegg when it was on sale... it worked great and I used it as a coaster for ages. Once I started going out in the field with in my bag... that's when it went south. It fell off my car a few times during photo shoots while offloading data and busted the solder on the back port.

I'm still thinking of buying another though... outside of that it's made well and is aesthetically pleasing compared to other plastic ugly things.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Card Reader Ever

Pros: -Sturdy Construction
-Doesn't slide on the desk
-Looks professional
-Works 100% of the time

Cons: -None that I can find

Other Thoughts: I'm usually not one to post reviews, but when I saw negative reviews on this reader I had to jump in. I am a video professional, and use media cards every day, all day. This reader is on my editing station and I've had 0 problems at all. I am not gentile, or easy on my equipment, I expect it to hold up to my abuse and this has with flying colors. If people have had problems I can only suspect a lemon or user error because these things are built to last and work. Some users have complained about the price, it's listed before you purchase. I don't like buying stuff twice, in my world it needs to work the first time, and this does just that.

1 out of 5 eggsNothing but problems

Pros: Nice sturdy construction - Cute card icons

Cons: Have had two units lock up after sitting connected to the computer not doing anything. Causes entire PC to lock up forcing reboot. Not what a 'professional' unit should cause.
Would not recommend to anyone.

Other Thoughts: Manufacturer needs to revise the unit not to cause lock-up

5 out of 5 eggsFast, stylish

Pros: Does the job and matches my Mac Pro. CF-to-comp file transfers seem faster than the AFT internal card reader in my PC, but it could be the difference between the computers.

Cons: None.

2 out of 5 eggsNot as nice a I would have liked

Pros: It's heavy and doesn't slide around the desk.

Cons: Costst too much. It will only read one card at a time (I knew this when i bought it).

The first one jammed the CF card on the first try and when it came out a piece of metal came out of the device. To Neweggs credit they rma's the product ( I hate to pay return shipping). The replacement had exactly the same problem. Instead of returning it, I took the item apart to get my CF card out and removed the loose metal guide. It works fine now, but I shouldn't have had to do this. Would buy again.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid product

Pros: Solid construction, cards slide into slots perfect with no problems, works well with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit with no problems..

Cons: Not really a con but only in SILVER

Other Thoughts: I got tired of these cheap plastic 5.25 bay readers that fall apart in months of buying them basically half the price as this card reader. Do yourself a favor buy this reader very solid construction work well in Windows 7 64-bit (Windows found driver for it within seconds) Paired this up with a SanDisk and Transcend CF cards for my Canon 5D Mark II camera..

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for the desktop

Pros: If you've ever used a card reader the most frustrating part is placing the card in the reader. If the reader is too light you push it all over the desktop. This reader is made of all steel construction, its heavier, and it has a grip point on the top so that you can firmly push cards into the reader. I'm constantly photoing and cataloging images and the thought of pushing a wimpy card reader around my desktop does not appeal one bit.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Bought one for every photo workstation. They are big so no one walks off with them. :)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card Reader

Pros: 1) has appearance of high quality construction
2) works as advertised
3) plug and play operation in Windows 7

Cons: IMHO, it could use a longer USB cable.
