5 out of 5 eggsGreat and wonderful Ram

This review is from: PNY XLR8 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model MD8192KD3-1600-X9

Pros: Easy to install (like any ram chip set)

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: I have had this ram since 2012 and it has been pushed to the brink and back and never faltered! I have had several PNY products over the years and they have all preformed exactly as they have stated. I am Very Pleased and will continue to purchase PNY products!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Product

This review is from: PNY XLR8 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model MD8192KD3-1600-X9

Pros: Price.
Works.

Cons: Not high performance

Other Thoughts: Bought this as it was the cheapest 8GB 1600 kit with good timings.
It's not the fastest or best performing memory but that's not what it was designed for.
It works exactly as it should.

1 out of 5 eggsWill not honor warranty

This review is from: PNY XLR8 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model MD8192KD3-1600-X9

Pros: One stick of Ram is still running for over 2 years.

Cons: Sent in an RMA for the one stick of RAM that went bad, and got the same stick back. I've done RMA's with most of the other RAM manufacturers and never had a problem.

Other Thoughts: Will no longer be buying any other PNY products!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

This review is from: PNY XLR8 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model MD8192KD3-1600-X9

Pros: Had to adjust the timings on a Gigabyte FM2/FM2+ board but that was easy and they are running great and you can't beat what they cost!

Cons: I'm glad that I'm not having the problems that some reviewers are having.

Other Thoughts: I wish Spring would get here and the snow would go away or that I could get a job with a company where it's warm and move!

1 out of 5 eggsAwful PNY Customer Service

This review is from: PNY XLR8 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model MD8192KD3-1600-X9

Pros: RAM worked well when the machine wasn't blue screened.

Cons: After six months of casual troubleshooting to figure out why I was getting random blue screens I finally narrowed it down to one of these two sticks of RAM. I was appalled when PNY refused to replace it even though it has a "lifetime" warranty based on a technicality in the warranty document. It would have cost them beans to replace the malfunctioning stick of RAM but instead they chose to lose a customer for life. I'll be dealing with another company for my component purchases from now on. Good customer service is worth paying a buck or two more for.

Other Thoughts: Bottom Line: If you buy this RAM, hope that any malfunctions happen within the Newegg return period because after that you're on your own.

1 out of 5 eggsCrashes games

This review is from: PNY XLR8 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model MD8192KD3-1600-X9

Pros: Well made and simplistic look which drew me to pick up this ram.

Cons: For a long time I have had games randomly crashing on me. Just this month it has gotten increasingly worse and I tried everything to fix this issue. I re-installed games, re-installed windows 7, and ran various tests to no avail. Eventually I decided to test my ram which seemed fine. I ran memtest 86+ and it came up with 68 errors within just 3 minutes. So I removed one of the sticks of ram and everything works perfect now just a little slow on the load times. Of course this problem never became to serious until recently so I didn't catch it in time to RMA it. PNY has a horrible system for replacements and I didn't know what half of the information they wanted was (generally not keeping boxes laying around a year after I buy something). So like my friends told me when I bought this ram I recommend Kingston and Corsair.

Other Thoughts: If you do decide to buy this ram then make sure you run memtest 86+ as soon as possible. When running the built in windows memory test I received 0 errors so I thought everything was fine.

Has a good low-profile look to it.

1 out of 5 eggsWILL NOT RUN AT 1600

This review is from: PNY XLR8 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model MD8192KD3-1600-X9

Pros: Runs Great a 1066

Cons: The first motherboard i had did not support the 1600 DDR 3 ram so i just ran it at 1066 which was fine. When i decided to upgrade to a new motherboard (GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard) i tried to run it at the 1600 which is what it is supposed to run at. Well it fails to post at the specified 1600 mzh.

Now it will post and boot in any speed lower then 1600. I have tried changing voltage , speeds and timmings. nothing seems to work.

5 out of 5 eggsNice.

This review is from: PNY XLR8 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model MD8192KD3-1600-X9

Pros: Memory came in quickly, and once installed has worked flawlessly ever since. Have only had the newly built system for about a month if not less now, but I don't think I'll have any issues with these memory modules.

Cons: No cons so far, will update if it ever crashes.
