Pros: Still 64GB. Still exFat.

Cons: Still slower than expected. Some suggest it should not be re-formated due to possible wear leveling issues. I think that is ridiculous. Nothing from PNY to suggest wear leveling is even a feature.

Other Thoughts: Apparently there was some question about my previous review.

I had not reformatted the card prior to testing. As I noted it came pre-formated as exFat, with no extra junk on the card, therefore no immediate need to reformat.

PNY provided no information warning or suggesting the card could not be re-formatted. Nor has PNY provided any information suggesting wear leveling is a feature of this card.

SanDisk for example is explicit about their SDXC controller supporting wear leveling. I also have some of theses cards which work great, even after re-formatting.

My testing was done with current generation i7 MacBook Pro which uses a PCIe connected card reader capable of 2.5 GT/s. This is the fastest computer/card reader combination I own and is theoretically much faster than PNY's max speed of 50MB/s.

Some devices support SDXC but not the exFAT file system. They will require an SDXC to be formated to their supported (usually FAT32). If a SDXC can not be re-formated it is u

Pros: With regards to the slow speed on the previous post. By any chance did you reformat it with a different file system? If so read wikipedia as follows:

Risks of reformatting
Reformatting an SD card with a different file system, or even with the same one, may make the card slower, or shorten its lifespan. Some cards use wear leveling, in which frequently modified blocks are mapped to different portions of memory at different times, and some wear-leveling algorithms are designed for the access patterns typical of the file allocation table on a FAT16 or FAT32 device.[60] In addition, the preformatted file system may use a cluster size that matches the erase region of the physical memory on the card; reformatting may change the cluster size and make writes less efficient.

Cons: none

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing performance

Pros: True 64GB capacity, pre-formated as ExFat. No bloatware on the SD.

Cons: Surprisingly slow write speed! 35MB/s writes, I don't think so. Seeing average closer to 10MB/s. Testing with i7 MacBook Pro writing from SSD.

Other Thoughts: Cost / MB for this performance seems high. Expected more from PNY.
