5 out of 5 eggsFasat enough

Pros: This is a great pocket size Drive. 256GB is plenty of room for me. I see it's not considered the fastest but I had it loaded with over 100 videos and it downloaded them into my machine in about 20 minutes. I felt that was pretty fast.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsPNY Turbo 256GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model P-FD256TBOP-GE

Pros: None

Cons: It's hard to open. I have had mine around 6 months. The drive is broken , plug it in, can't open to get data stored in it. It's useless. Save your money and get a Kingston flash drive.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked great until...

Pros: Worked great, fast enough, large size.

Cons: The plastic lanyard hole broke, so unfortunately when it broke I lost the drive and the data that was on it :(

Other Thoughts: Why don't USB Drive manufactures use a metallic structure to house the drive? It would cost a bit more, but I would still have my drive today.

1 out of 5 eggsCannot write to it after 6 months

Pros: Large capacity at a reasonable cost.

Cons: Cannot write to it after 6 months. It becomes a read-only flash driver now.

Other Thoughts: Call for RMA which requires me to send the defective drive back. I have personal info like bank accounts, SSN, birthday etc which I cannot erase from the drive before sending it back. Obviously I declined. I asked if I can somehow destroy the drive before sending it back and they say no. There has to be a better way to handle these kind of RMA when it is inconvenient for the customer to send back a defective product without sending all the personal information as well.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is a Great Drive for Great Price.

Pros: Massive storage
USB 3.0 support
Great consistent data storage
Trustworthy storage
Great price for the 256gb.
Rugged construction and good cap mechanism

Cons: It's not the fastest device on the market

Other Thoughts: I have to admit that I first bought this drive on a too good to be true sale but after all this time this drive has become a very trusted friend for transferring large amounts of data from one computer to another. I really can't complain about the speed since even when it is reading a movie it streams them without lag or problems. Very good price and a very good rugged Flash drive.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive!

Pros: Daily use for over a year and has never dropped a bit or skipped a beat! Great product!

Cons: Case is a little fat which can interfere with close set USB ports but rarely an issue.

4 out of 5 eggsHas been good to me

Pros: After almost a year, it still has 150 MB/sec write speeds and 180 MB/sec read speeds.

Cons: There were around 10 incidents where the flash drive unmounted and had to be reinserted.

Other Thoughts: I've been using this everyday for 11 months, plugged in constantly. The only problem I had was having to reinsert it a few times.

This model seems discontinued(?) but was worth the $120. Can't find another 256 GB model for the same price and speed. It is much faster than the 64 GB model I got at the same time.

1 out of 5 eggsSLOWER than old USB2.0 drives!

Pros: I'm not sure what the pros are here. It worked, out of the box, I guess? Not DOA?

Cons: "It reads as fast as 185MBps and writes up to 135MBps for lighting-fast transfer of large files" - this is outright false. I just plugged a brand-new one into my USB3.0 hub, and according to Device Manager, it is showing as a child device of "USB3.0 Hub", so it should be in USB3.0 mode, and I'm getting only as high as 16MB/sec, copying a 4GB ISO file from my NAS to the flash drive. (I am gigabit wired, and can copy files from my NAS to my internal SSD at 89MB/sec over my network. So the NAS and the network is not the bottleneck.)

Other Thoughts: Seems like a production bait & switch on these drives? I've heard other complaints about more recently-mfged units running really slowly for writing too.

1 out of 5 eggsQuestionable peformance, avoid

Pros: Large 256gb
Peak performance numbers look good
A name that we figured we could trust

Cons: -VERY inconsistent speeds
-Support questionable

Other Thoughts: The 128gb version if this drive is great. The 256gb version suffers from performance issues. On transferring a large file (5-15gb), I can watch the copy progress FREEZE for a few seconds while copying over. Never saw this problem with the 128gb version. Very inconsistent speeds, I love the 128gb drive but, think this 256gb is very low quality.

If your looking for a 256gb drive, look elsewhere but, if you can life with 128gb, the Turbo drive is worth your time.
