3 out of 5 eggsMediocre Performance

Pros: Reliable

Cons: Performance and Price

Other Thoughts: I purchased the Lexar S73 series 32 gig flash drive based on their reputation for reliability, and I have not experienced any reliability problems whatsoever.

Performance, however, is another matter. Considering its benchmark performance, the price tag of the 32 gig S73 seems expensive.

My 32 gig Lexar S73 benchmarks at: 45.8 MB/s sequential read speed and 18.0 MB/s sequential write. The 4K random read speed is 8.52 while the 4K random write speed is 0.103 (CrystalDiskMark).

For comparison, I have a 32 gig SansDisk Extreme that benchmarks at: 199.72 MB/s sequential read speed and 68.61 sequential write. The 4K random read speed is 11.88 MB/s with the 4K random write speed came in at 7.056 MB/s (CrystalDiskMark).

The AS-SSD ISO Copy Benchmark test (files copy speed) for the Lexar took 67.83 seconds at a speed of 15.52 MB/s. The SansDisk copied the same test files in 21.52 seconds at a speed of 53.18 MB/s.

The SansDisk benchmarks are orders-of-magnitude better than the Lexar, and it cost just $13.99 more. (for the 32 gig model). In real-world use, the difference in performance is very noticeable -- especially when copying several gigs of files.

All things considered, if you can afford the additional $13.99, the SansDisk Extreme 32 gig flash drive out performs the 32 gig Lexar S73 by a very wide margin.
