2 out of 5 eggsNot Windows 7 Compatible

Pros: Worked fairly well when it did work.

Cons: I have used this countless times in the past but after updating to Windows 7 it stopped working. Unless the thing just so happen to break right after I updated, avoid this product.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Works as advertised.
Don't have to waste drive bay space for something I only rarely use

Cons: I hate the plastic packaging it comes in. But, then again, everything comes sealed in that stuff these days.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Excellent product. I have vigorously used the previous version, Lexar Media JumpDrive Trio for over 5 year until recently the usb contacts disintegrated and fell apart so it was unable to make a connection. Small, compact, fast, usb built in, reads SD and xD (and others), which I use the most. Best card reader I have ever used and much tougher than it looks.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: New version works great.

4 out of 5 eggsFlimsy but fast

Comments: WinXP had no problems with it. It transferred about 10mb of pictures in less than a second. It feels kind of fragile though. Like if I carried it in my pocket very long it might not survive.

Comments: This usb card reader works pretty good, for some reason it doesn't work on my win98 computer even with the drivers downloaded from Lexar's website. other than that very good, te card are well protected but the cap for the usb connector comes lose and could get lost easily. Newegg shipping is the best

5 out of 5 eggsStands out from the crowd

Comments: <a href='Manufacturer's site http://www.lexar.com/readers/trio.html' target=_blank>Manufacturer's site http://www.lexar.com/readers/trio.html</a>

I use this primarily for transferring digital photos from high speed Sony Memory Stick Pro media to my computer. With 7-megapixel photos, those are big files and speed is important. Occasionally I use it as a “thumb drive” or “key drive”, to write files to my card and transfer them to other computers, just like a floppy drive.

This fast USB 2.0 reader/writer works great with all computers I’ve tried it on, including those with only USB 1.1 capability (but of course in that case, at slower USB 1.1 speed.)

Possibly not immediately apparent from the description on this site, but visible on the enlarged picture of the product’s packaging, is its capability to read SD cards in addition to those listed in the description when I purchased it. (Of course it does say MMC but not everyone is aware of the similarity to SD.)

A more distinctive feature of this card is its exterior design. While some pocket sized card readers merely have a cap over the card-slot, this Lexar uses an innovative locking flip-up hinged cover providing more protection for your expensive card during transport and eliminating the possibility of losing the cover. Just slide the cover out slightly to unlock it, and flip it up. Great design. The manufacturer’s site has an illustration of this feature.

The USB plug though, is protected by a mere snap-on cap. I notice Lexar also sells replacements for this cap on their web site in case of loss.

Smooth rounded edges, compact size, and secure cover make this device great for traveling, pocketing, or slipping into the small pocket of a camera case. It’s a good way to carry and protect that extra memory card.

This is one of four card readers/writers I own with two costing more, and one costing less which I also purchased here. The cheaper one, while overall smaller, is noticeably “cheaper” in design, with easily lost caps on both ends.

So far I find this Lexar to be a great value for its intended purpose. Time will tell if it is as durable as it initially appears.

The icing on the cake? Newegg of course! Got here fast and without any problems, and saved me money, as have all of my Newegg orders.
