Pros: SLC NAND. Don't leave home without it. Fast boot, much faster than MLC devices.

Cons: Needs a good CF adapter, which usually is IDE-based. Fine, but I'd love to go all-SATA these days, even just for better airfow. Something in an SD format would be nice, but the industry is built around CF, which really is fine for fixed gear.
They're not cheap parts, but downtime is much more expensive.

Other Thoughts: I'm using these to build Zettabyte pfSense boxes with removable boot drives in the front panels - these CF cards. Previously I had used MLC NAND devices, and they all failed within two years. SLC cells should outlast the rest of the machine. These cards work perfectly.

Other Thoughts: I've been using this card in conjunction with the SYBA SD-CF-IDE-A IDE to Compact Flash Adapter in an older Powermac 6500 system. The IDE controller used in this particular Powermac is ATA-2 / PIO-4 compliant. This system is not capable of UDMA data transfer (PIO modes only), which means that the maximum transfer speed this Macintosh can achieve is 16.6 MB/s.

The card is used as my main "hard drive" and I can report that the operating system was able to recognize, partition, and format it without a problem. I am currently using it as a fast and cheap alternative to a regular IDE drive.

Since CF cards have no moving parts, data access is generally operating at the fastest speed possible. Since this card is rated for much higher transfer rates that the IDE bus used in this Macintosh, the card uses the entire bandwidth on the bus completely, making it a very fast hard drive alternative.

I've also heared reports that these cards work in older 68k based Macintosh systems using.

Pros: Good capacity / speed / price.

Cons: Obviously still slower than a regular hard drive.

Other Thoughts: I'm currently using this as a sort of recovery / utility drive in a nettop, but for a while before I got the hard drive for it I ran the OS (Ubuntu) off it for daily use, and surprisingly it was actually mostly usable for even that. Definitely my recommendation for anyone building a router, home server, or similar device.

Pros: Fast and dependable.

Cons: Not cheap.

Other Thoughts: If you take pictures more than a few times a year, these cards are what you want. I'm a photography student and I have four of them. I got my first one about a year and a half ago and it still works perfectly. I've tried other brands with comparable specs but they just aren't as fast. Buy this card.

Pros: GR8 CARD SEEMS TO BE JUST AS FAST AS MY SONY CARD BUT SAVED A FEW DOLLARS GETTING TRANSEND

Pros: Works well with my Canon 350D SLR. I get an extra 2-3 frames in burst shooting mode over a regular "133X" CF card

Cons: Haven't found one worth mentioning yet

Other Thoughts: We'll see about the relaiability in a year or so. So far I filled the card a few times and I downloaded the pics on a hard drive. Every time I reformat it when I put it back in the camera and it's been working flawlessly so far.

Pros: I'm using 2 of these cards as SSD drive with Addonics CF to SATA RAID 2.5" adapter inside fit-PC2. Work great in raid0: 60Mb/s read, 45Mb/s write. Installed Windows XP Pro w/o any problems. Great SLC card.

Cons: Expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Pros: Fastest card I've ever used.

Cons: Pricey.

Other Thoughts: If you can afford them, get this line of CF cards. They are fast in all regards and dependable.

Pros: Very fast for bursts of 6-9 shots in my Nikon D300. It is also very quick for downloading from the card to a computer. It's worth the money. Transcend cards have been very reliable when used in Nikon DSLR's.

Cons: None

Pros: This little card gets the job done. It's a phenomenal value in terms of speed versus price.

Cons: It's not the cheapest 4GB card you can buy - but it is fast.

Other Thoughts: This is the fourth Transcend CF card I've bought, all for my Car PC or Media PC, and none have them have shown any signs of death yet. I'd recommend the transcend cards over any other brand.
