5 out of 5 eggsWorks great as a hard drive, also! ;)

Pros: I use this CF card as a hard drive inside a SCSI card reader on my Amiga 2000 computer. Split it into 4 partitions (Workbench, Work, Documents, Games), formatted it with PFS to utilize the full capacity, am getting a consistent 1.7MB/sec transfer rate from it as reported by SysInfo. That's actually the limit of my controller (GVP GeForce '040), I'm sure this card could go much faster with a better controller. Otherwise, love it!

Cons: No cons with this product for my application.

Other Thoughts: Works great, and great price! I also use a 4GB Transcend in my Amiga 500, no issues there, either.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great in Canon 1DsMk II

Pros: Inexpensive for the speed and capacity offered.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I use this in my Canon 1DsMk II and it's a very solid card. Technically the 1DsMkII doesn't support UDMA cards but the speed of the card is still noticeable with the camera (compared to my older SanDisk Ultra cards).

5 out of 5 eggsLove this card! Use it with D700 and 5DMKII

Pros: This card is extremely fast! And I shoot 100% RAW so I need fast cards. I'm a professional wedding and portrait photographer, which means I require the best and most reliable gear. This card has never given me a single issue in the 6+ months I've had it. I've used it in both the Nikon D700 and my 5D Mark II, works flawlessly on both, even while shooting video with the 5DMKII.

I love this card so much I'm buying a couple more!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The user that said its not compatible with the D700 is wrong. I used it with my D700 for over 6 months without a single issue. I suggest them to send their camera in for repair.

I use the Lexar Pro FireWire800 reader. You're definitely gonna want to invest in one to take advantage of the speed of this baby!

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Used this for a boot drive on aspire1 with Ubuntu.
Waaay faster than the original SSD.
Was initially happy with it and would have given 5 eggs.

Cons: Read errors started after 4 months of use .
Now unusable and wont even reformat.

Other Thoughts: Might have been my stupid fault using an mlc flash for a boot drive but I would expect it to get more than 4 months.

3 out of 5 eggsNot compatible with Nikon D700

Pros: Very very fast, especially considering it's MLC technology and not SLC. You'll want to purchase a Sandisk FW800 reader to go along with this card to get the maximum benefit when downloading!

Cons: Not compatible with the Nikon D700. After taking about 6000 shots I fortunately didn't experience any corrupt images however, there is clearly some kind of race condition in the camera as every now and then after chimping (usually when immediately chipming after taking a series of shots) the redraw on the screen would be corrupt. Loading a few different images and then going back to the previously corrupt rendering would yield a good result (I'm guessing by loading several different images you clear out the cache).

Also, this is MLC technology not SLC. The 300x SLC Transcend cards are rated for 1,000,000 write erase cycles. Transcend does not publish the results for these cards. Typically MLC flash has 1/10th the write/erase cycles of SLC flash. Don't know what the exact spec is here though as it's not published.

Other Thoughts: Rating wise I went in the middle as it didn't work with my camera but for other applications it's probably worthy of a much higher rating given its performance. That information WAS out there though. Lesson learned, call the manufacturer first. If you need a high performance card and high reliability isn't a concern (not that this isn't a reliable card, it just doesn't have the reliability of Transcend's SLC based products) this is a very fast card on the read side of things. I was getting 45 megs per second with an el-cheapo FW800 card reader. The Sandisk FW800 reader is much faster.
