1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Lasted little over 2 months?

Cons: Same. It lasted only a little over 2 months.

Other Thoughts: I bought it on 2/13/13 and today 4/29/13 the files aren't showing up on my desktop or laptop. When it worked, it showed up as Transcend on my drives list with all the files on it. Now when I put it in it just shows up as Removable Disk with no files listed. Strangely enough, the used space is still occupied on the drive but both computers say the drive is empty.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

It is unfortunate that you had a negative experience with the JetFlash drive. Transcend does offer a limited lifetime warranty on your JetFlash and if found defective (no physical damage) will replace the unit for you. Contact Transcend Technical Support at 1-800-886-5590 to begin the RMA process.

4 out of 5 eggsPlenty of space, not super fast

Pros: Spacious for moving lot of files or large files.

Cons: Not as fast as I was hoping for a USB 3 drive. Only saturates USB 2 connection on some reads.

Other Thoughts: I probably shouldn't expect this to be super fast for the price I got it for (was $20).

Impression about write speeds: So far I typically average about 20-25 MB/s writes on USB 3 on my desktop. once in a while it bursts to 30 or 35, not much higher than that. I have had it dip to 10-15 on copying several hundred 5-10 MB pictures. Take that with a grain of salt because I ran that on my netbook ASUS 1201N.

Read imperssions: Read is definitely faster than writes. I have been able to do a move off of the drive at an average of 50 MB/s on my USB 3 connection on my desktop. Same picture files as mentioned above. Did burst for a bit over 60 MB/s (if Terracopy is to be believed) I have had it go lower on some video files to 25-30 MB/s so it's not completely consistent with the files that I've handed it.

I do like having the additional space that 32 GB affords (Windows will see it as 29.4 GB, at lest that's my sample).

I have noticed that with writing a lot of data to the drive it does get pretty warm to the touch, not that you'll burn yourself but I do wonder if that'll have an effect on the longevity of the drive. First USB drive I've owned that does that.

IMO: Decent amount of space, decent typical read speeds, write speeds leave something to be desired. For the price (under $30), it's a good drive.

5 out of 5 eggsFastest USB 3 drive I've tested

Pros: Fast

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Although I've only tested 3 different brands of USB 3.0 flash drives, this is easily the fastest one. I have an exceptionally sturdy flash drive that was my fastest with 78mbps read and 47mbps write. This transcend drive had 87mbps read and 93mbps write. I'm still going to carry the other brand in my pocket because it is indestructable but I'll certainly carry this Transcend in my laptop bag.

1 out of 5 eggsVery poor write speed

Pros: Fast read speed
Capless

Cons: Very slow write speed
Flimsy construction

Other Thoughts: According the datasheet for the 760/770 drives, the write speed for the 760 should be around 68, but I'm getting around 15. The advertised sequential read speeds are very close. I have a feeling there is a typo on the datasheet. It shows 68 MB write speed for the 760 and 15 MB for the 770. I have a feeling the numbers should be swapped because the difference between 15 and 68 is huge.

I used the same software to benchmark my old PatriotXT USB 2.0 drive and the write speed were pretty much the same.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper Fast

Pros: It is fast in performance since its USB 3.0. Its total capacity is 31.59GB when empty. It transfered a 1 GB data in about 70-75 seconds.

Cons: Nothing so far. works smooth.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter Speed, More Space

Pros: Compared against my older 8GB USB2.0 flash drive (forget the brand, has word off). Ended up being just about 2x faster read and write speeds. Tested with 6.7GB of data, same port, formatted before writing, etc, etc. Pretty pleased so far.

Cons: Casing seems a bit larger than some of my other drives. Not sure if that's a USB3.0 thing or just a Transcend thing. Not huge or anything, just slight longer and wider.

Other Thoughts: It's pretty early in the life of this drive - but at the very least I now have way more storage for a decent price and twice the speed.

4 out of 5 eggsgood product

Pros: No external cap - I hate fash drives with those stupid external caps. They always get lost.

Transcend has some of the best and fastest flash drives on the market and they get great reviews. Do an internet search for flash drive reviews and you'll what I'm talking about.

Cons: The push button to retract or extend the usb head needs to be designed a bit better. It locks once extended, but it feels cheap and and I have my doubts as to whether or not it will withstand the test of time. When I retract the drive I always feel like the button won't lock.

There needs to be a larger ring hole on the back of the drive so you can attach something like a key ring to it. I managed to get a very small key ring around mine, but it was a very tight fit.

4 out of 5 eggsFast and convenient

Pros: It's USB 3.0 so is faster than most other flash drives.
I love the cap-less design, I have always hated keeping track of caps!

Cons: A little on the big side, makes it hard to fit into tight spaces such as on some USB hubs or cases with odd designs.
Could be faster for a USB 3 device.

Other Thoughts: Overall a fabulous flash drive. Excellent combination of size convenience and price. Recommended!
