5 out of 5 eggsFAST!

This review is from: Transcend TS-RDF5K USB 3.0 Support SDHC (UHS-I), SDXC (UHS-I), microSD, microSDHC (UHS-I), and microSDXC (UHS-I) Flash Card Reader

Pros: Extremely fast.
I ran some comparisons with the fastest cards I could find between this adapter connected to a USB 3.0 port on my HP Chromebook 14, and the built-in SD slot on the same machine. This adapter was far faster than the internal SD slot (I use the SD card it to store Steam games I run on the Chromebook via Crouton).

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I'm not posting numbers as this is a review of the reader, not the cards.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Card Reader!!!!!!!

This review is from: Transcend TS-RDF5K USB 3.0 Support SDHC (UHS-I), SDXC (UHS-I), microSD, microSDHC (UHS-I), and microSDXC (UHS-I) Flash Card Reader

Pros: It's a card reader. It does what it's supposed to do and fast. If you want a card reader that performs as stated, look no further.

Cons: FLAWLESS Operation!

5 out of 5 eggsEggcellent product.

This review is from: Transcend TS-RDF5K USB 3.0 Support SDHC (UHS-I), SDXC (UHS-I), microSD, microSDHC (UHS-I), and microSDXC (UHS-I) Flash Card Reader

Pros: -Small
-Reliable so far
-Good speeds
Overall, this thing is great. It seems to go a bit faster than the internal card reader that it replaced. SD card readers seem to have a fairly high failure rate in my experience, but this one is going strong still. Also, does seem a bit faster than the one it replaced (yay USB 3.0).

Cons: -The cap is easily lost
I do wish the cap had a tether of some sort, but that is personal preference and not a huge deal.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I am very happy with this product and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a solid SD card read. With it being portable and reliable I have started taking it with me to use on other computers as well - since everyone seems to like to see pictures and no one seems to have a card reader anymore.

3 out of 5 eggsVery Tight Going In!

This review is from: Transcend TS-RDF5K USB 3.0 Support SDHC (UHS-I), SDXC (UHS-I), microSD, microSDHC (UHS-I), and microSDXC (UHS-I) Flash Card Reader

Pros: Unit worked great with my microSD card, as I was able to transfer nearly a gig of files with no problems at all. However, I wasn't able to use my regular sized SD cards, though. Read the cons to see why.

Cons: Unit takes a little force to plug in and pull out of the USB 3.0 ports on my Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case. It felt like I was going to break something, to be honest.

Also, my Phanteks Enthoo pro Case has a flip-up panel that hides the front USB ports. I can only use the card reader with a microSD card in these particular USB ports, as the larger sized cards interfere with the flip-up panel keeping it from plugging all the way in. Something to consider if your case has a flip-up panel. My back USB ports are all taken up with other USB devices, so the front panel was my only option. I will be unable to use this device with all my regular sized SD cards, which is very disappointing. I'll now have to find something else to use.

Other Thoughts: I took 2 eggs off due to the unit taking a little force to plug in and pull out, which feels like it could cause some damage to the USB port with repeated use. Just be careful when plugging it in and pulling it out and you should be fine.

This reader just don't work well with my particular computer case, at least with the front USB ports. I can't blame the reader for that, so I didn't take off any eggs for that.

Pros: I can use it with any of my computers or my friends, and it's backwards compatible to use with 2.0 and 1.0 USB's as well. Great item Transcend....

Cons: I can think of any.

Other Thoughts: None at this time.
