1 out of 5 eggsFailed (again)

This review is from: Transcend SSD340 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) TS256GSSD340

Pros: Drive had chkdsk error after 10 days. Failed completely at 35 days after installation. Blue screen and failed to reload.

Cons: This is the second Transcend that's failed. First one was broken tab with similar results. Second one just plain died.

Other Thoughts: Have to send back to Transcend at my cost. Editing projects are now on hold. At least I have an image to re-install. Newegg has always been my provider of choice.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after a few hours

This review is from: Transcend SSD340 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) TS256GSSD340

Pros: The tab that holds the SATA cable in the drive broke off when the cable was plugged in. This was causing intermittent boot problems that lead me back to checking drive connectors. Imaged and returned with RMA to Newegg.

Cons: Looks like the plastic guide was weak or too thin to hold the cable. I've installed numerous Sata and SSD without ever having this problem. May be a quality control issue in mfg.

Other Thoughts: This was my first Transcend Drive but not first SSD. I highly recommend SSD to friends and customers that want speed or to revive and old Duo Core. Overall the drive was fast booting and worked well. The speed was more evident when I had to go back and re-install a standard platter drive.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is my First SSD Purchase!!!

This review is from: Transcend SSD340 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) TS256GSSD340

Pros: Boots Win7 and Win8.1 dual boot on my Gigabyte Motherboard in about 10.sec!!
This may not be the fastest ssd, But coming from a standard Hard drive
this ssd is very fast. First time ssd buyers will be very happy!!!

Cons: No cons for me, Everything just worked!

5 out of 5 eggsSSD for Apple G5 iMac

This review is from: Transcend SSD340 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) TS256GSSD340

Pros: USB external connection with SATA adapter worked well on the Apple G5 iMac. Erased (formatted) the SSD. Used CCC to clone HDD. That worked well. Needed to enter Open Firmware to change configuration to boot OS X from the external SSD. Good performance so far.

Cons: First try with SSD installed internally didn't Boot. Didn't know about Open Firmware at the time of the try. May need to modify the configuration in Open Firmware to boot with the internal SATA connection.

Other Thoughts: External SSD has increased the response time of the MS Virtual PC for Mac running XP Pro. The Apple OS X also boots up faster and is more responsive. The original HDD is still available if needed. Great technical learning experience.
