Features
Matched pairs for today's hot dual channel motherboards! Hailing from A-data's signature line, the DDR400 module for desktop is a double data rate module composed of CMOS Double Data Rate SDRAMs in TSOP-II 400mil 66pin package and one 2Kbit EEPROM in 8pin TSSOP(TSOP) package on a 184pin glass-epoxy printed 6 layer circuit board. DDR400 is a dual in-line memory module and is intended for mounting onto 184-pins edge connector sockets. Synchronous design allows precise cycle control with the use of system clock. Data I/O transactions are possible on both edges of DQS. Range of operating frequencies, programmable latencies and burst lengths allow the same device to be useful for a variety of high bandwidth, high performance memory system applications. A-Data's modules are tested in pairs, in dual channel motherboards, at very aggressive latency settings for optimum performance and compatibility.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't Work

Pros: This time no pro's for two (2) sets received vs. previous review on larger qty. purchase in Sept. 2010.

Cons: 'Had ordered 2 set to build a couple rotable pool units. The units had been running just fin with 2 256Mb chios installed. When I added the new modules (Note here: I've used these same modules on approximately 15 of the same model computers without a hitch) all I got was hang ups, memory errors (both XP Pro and Win 7), and failure to boot when used seperate from any other memory. When I removed them the computers ran normally.

Other Thoughts: Very disappointed in the change in quality. I need the extra memory for programs we run, so it looks like I need to find a different source. I'll be calling Newegg RMA department when they open next week for return authorization.

5 out of 5 eggsKeeping Old Equipment Going

Pros: Purchased a total of 15 sets to upgrade HP510 & 530 series desktops based upon design specs. Ran great right out of the box, no problems. These sets have been running for over a year now with no failures --- at least 8 hours a day 5 days a week.

Cons: None to date

Other Thoughts: Will be purchasing a few more sets to upgrade some spare/pool units.

1 out of 5 eggsFind Other Memeory

Pros: low price. that's the only pro, but you get what you pay for.

Cons: Complete failure after just over two months. Memtest identified over 1200 errors within the first three tests. Manufacturer support rep had no info on voltage or timing settings. Manufacturer has no advance RMA policy, and turnaround runs three to four weeks for RMA. Unsatisfactory. I won't be buying anymore Adata products.

2 out of 5 eggs1 of 2 failed

Pros: Looks nice, one of the matched pair worked.
They respond to email (4 hour wait time).

Cons: One of the matched pair didn't work.
ADATA customer service doesn't have their phone number on their website doesn't list a phone number, I had to look through adata reviews to find a phone number.
ADATA won't do a cross-ship for replacement as they have no way to take credit cards.

Other Thoughts: I have ordered ram by adata 4 times, the other three times it was ddr2 ram. This is the only time that I have received a bad module so it may be that their quality control on older ram is sub par. That being said the chances of getting a bad module is (in my experience) 12.5% of the time, unfortunately a problem with one stick in a matched pair means that you'll have problems 25% of the time.

This is an appeal to ADATA: quality control will help you save money, face, and gain you customer loyalty. Poor quality control will earn bad reviews like this.

Newegg is great with returns and refunds, easy peasy.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty memory

Pros: None

Cons: After figuring out (two months later) what was causing my games to crash it was this memory. at first i figured maybe it was my drivers or a software issue. when i removed this memory everything ran just fine. had to replace with some memory that works i happened to salvaged from work.

Other Thoughts: maybe they should test the memory first before you sell them to your customers.

Thanks...

1 out of 5 eggsNot impressed

Pros: They look good.

Cons: One module failed after 3 days and wouldn't allow my system to boot.

Other Thoughts: I wish there were more choices in this type of memory.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Stuff

Pros: Good Memory. Runs like a champ. Put it in with 1GB (2x512) of Kingston RAM and they play great together.

Cons: Had to switch the sticks when I first put them in. I blame the mobo for this, as it's aging in this system.

Other Thoughts: Excellent buy.
System it's in:
AMD 3800x2
2GB RAM
EPOX mobo
ATI 3850

4 out of 5 eggsProbably not as durable as many others.

Pros: Value in legacy DDR-400 at 2.5 latency. It's heat-spreaders protect the stick from oil on fingers and outside elements (except static) and make the mem easier to handle and install. Never had compatibility problems.

Cons: Perhaps doesn't last as well down the stretch as many other brands. Maybe a fluke, or, as the Brits might say "misadventure," however....

Other Thoughts: Reviewed in 2007. I really have liked A-Data's memory products. For some reason, one of these sticks developed faults and failed miserably in memtest86 a few months ago. No OC, either. Other brands of DDR still truck on. May purchase one or two again, nonetheless--need more than 512MB in that sys--even with linux. If I do re-purchase, I'll observe for poor durability over time and report back.
