5 out of 5 eggsGREAT BUY

Pros: Very fast transfer speeds for an 8 GB flashdrive. Can even be used in ready boost. Low profile, slide mechanism actually works, and is CHEAPer than equivalent drives.

Cons: Doesn't come with lanyard or LED. Personally, I can get a lanyard, and the LED isn't that important.

Other Thoughts: Was leery at first, but I've really fallen in love with it. best money I've ever spent on a flash drive.

4 out of 5 eggsAdata

Pros: nice small footprint and adata backs with lifetime warr. and it it is 8gb but a bit slow for what i use it for. I have a patriot 8gb and it works a bit faster but this was a great gift for a friend he was overjoyed by it

Cons: no light but not a big deal

Other Thoughts: Kind of odd for adata no to have an LED but hey I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Cons: DOA. arrived DOA. i tried to transfer a bunch of files to it. everything crashed mid-transfer. i was never able to find the problem or make it work.

5 out of 5 eggsworks fine, small enough for me

Pros: Faster than my OCZ Mini-kart 1GB USB drive. Good, locking slide-out mechanism.

Cons: Doesn't have a LED activity light. Tight fit for side-by-side USB ports if you plan to use this drive with other USB devices at the same time.

Other Thoughts: If you USB ports are stacked, you'll be able to plug something else above or below this drive. If your ports are side-by-side, it may not fit. I knew it didn't have a LED light and I'm learning to live without it. The plastic case is light and it doesn't feel like there is much need for it--they could've easily made it at least 1mm smaller in width and thickness. I haven't tested it yet, but in daily file transfers it is faster than my old OCZ Mini-kart 1GB drive. Shiny plastic colored top scratches easily, if you care about that kind of thing.

2 out of 5 eggsPass this one up

Pros: Great price.

Cons: I Bought 2 and both have very poor connectivity in standard USB ports. Both would not work unless held in place on all my computers, when you let them go they stopped working. I assume it's because there is too much plastic around the center 2 connectors.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Speed at a Great Price!

Pros: I compared the A-Data 8 GB flash drive to my Sand**k 2 GB flash drive. I tested with a 250 MB file copied and pasted from my hdd to each flash drive independently. The Adata achieved average speed of 6.25 MB during transfer. While the Sand**k achieved a average speed of 7.25 MB during transfer.

At four times the capacity and at the price (with free s/h), this drive is very nice. Good performance and a large capacity. Great for media and computer science students.

The drive also has less "loose" feeling retractable USB then the Sand**k. It's casing is completely plastic (not flimsy feeling) and attributes to its very lightweight (maybe a con to some).

Cons: No lanyard included. The drive lacks a activity LED.

Other Thoughts: If the lanyard and activity LED is something you're willing to forgo at this price, then get the drive. Performance wise, it is comparable to other name brands, but at half the price.
