1 out of 5 eggsdo NOT buy

Pros: it works when you take it out of the box

then it dies

since it has a usb port I guess the best way to describe this unit is as a flash drive only drive because if you put it in your system for any length of time, you will be getting it replaced

Cons: VERY undependable
not trust worthy to store data you want to keep on it

this is the second time in just over a year i've had to have mine replaced, thankful for the LIFE time warranty but if you have to use it all the time whats the since in having the drive

Other Thoughts: i've lost my OS twice on this drive and lost data files another 2 times

if you want a cheap drive that works this is not for you

it got 1 egg because I couldnt leave it blank

2 out of 5 eggss596 ssd

Pros: good price, decent speeds, mini usb port for fast plug and play on the go is nice

Cons: if you dont have the latest firmware on it UPDATE it or you could loose your data.

I had mine just over 9 months and it died
trying to get it replaced with adata now
Adata's website and rma process are very user UNFRIENDLY
only way to register the drive is with the numbers on the HD box it comes in so dont throw it away EVER

been trying all day to get a rma number
guess i'll try again tomorrow

Other Thoughts: it was 156.00 when I bought it and I thought it was a good deal then. at 117.00 its a decent drive but you need to update firmware, or your pc could decide to stop reconizing the drive
also DO NOT raid these. you loose trim support in raid.
the drives are way faster without raid

4 out of 5 eggsWould not use for OS

Pros: Easy to install.
Has usb hook-up (if you want to use it as an overly large flash drive).
Stores stuff.

Cons: OS is not stable on this drive. Ended up using Kingston V Series SSD. Works great. The A-DATA drive makes a good hard drive for programs quick and easy access to or that require large amount of memory access while running.
4-Eggs because of the OS problems.

5 out of 5 eggsupdate on RMA

Pros: very fast, low power consumption, fast boot times, improved gaming performance, currently boots with no issues.

Cons: none at the moment

Other Thoughts: after emailing ADATA for RMA i sent back my defective ssd and with in a few days ADATA sent me back a new ssd. works great for now, see how long it takes until it fails again. will report back if replacement ssd fails.

2 out of 5 eggsBuggy with no support

Pros: Cheap with good performance

Cons: Worked well for a couple of months and then I get bootmgr image is corrupt. Could be me but after looking through all the other reviews it seems like this drive has a serious boot issue. Would not buy Adata again.

2 out of 5 eggsBoot issues

Pros: fast, when it works. looks pretty, usb port.

Cons: boot issue, shortly after my netbook (Toshiba nb 205) is powered down the ssd becomes unrecognized when restarted. it must be taken out and put back in, in order for the bios to recognize and boot off of it. this problem did not exist at first, but got progressively more frequent after just a few shutdowns. now after just a dozen or so shutdowns it is constant.

Other Thoughts: tech support seems to be horrible at this point, two different websites with adata, newegg wont RMA these products, i want my money back! iv been a VERY good customer to newegg, i would like an RMA on this product, or see me over at tiger.

1 out of 5 eggsNeeds new firmware

Pros: Was cheap,But I guess you get what you pay for.

Cons: Does not play well with my hp laptop.allmost 99% chance of bsod if you try to wake the laptop up from sleep mode.must shut computer down completely whenever I'm done with even just a simple google search.Even then there's a 50/50 shot the computer will say no boot disk when I try to start it up again, and I will have to restart and cross my fingers.have tried this in multiple pc's and it's always the same thing happening.

Other Thoughts: Maybe it needs a firmware update or something. It's to bad,I really like the idea of all that onboard cache.but if it's all for nothing then I will probably take my alliance back the WD side and see how there ssd's are.Maybe I just got a finicky drive.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Bad..

Pros: Excellent sequential read and write speeds, especially for the price.. average 230MB and 95MB/sec on my end in AHCI. Random not bad, either.. WEI score maxed at 7.1 or so. Computer startup is comparable to my older gen, cacheless OCZ 32gb drive. Shutdown is MUCH speedier thanks to 8-9x faster random writes. The 128MB cache does indeed mean stuttering is a thing of the past.

Native TRIM support is nice.

Cons: A-Data who? Their website(s) is/are atrocious. If there is such a thing as a firmware update, I haven't been able to find it. The outside of the 64GB box advertises 240MB/180MB read/write, but they fail to mention that speed is only for the infinitely more-expensive 128GB+ model.

JMicron controller is, of course, still not on par with Ind/Sand/etc, though this 612 is far better than the older 602. Extremely sensitive to drivers.

Other Thoughts: Will likely buy another and put it in raid 0.. will report back then.

Considered the pros and cons of taking it back for a brand with more firmware support but decided to stick it out. Price/performance/cache are still good. A-data will either make a stand and really find a niche in the SSD market, or my mother's laptop will get a new hard drive. We'll see.

3 out of 5 eggsgood when it works

Pros: it has good speed and everything. easy to install windows 7.

Cons: if the computer is turned on after it's been off for about 8 hours, it does NOT boot. then i had to turn off and on the computer few times.

there are no frimware updates for S596 now.

4 out of 5 eggsgood if you know how to do it

Pros: Cheapest for size and speed I have seen.fast read.
(200 avg), decent write(50-70)
0.87 ms seek time.

Cons: Seems to slow down after a while but...see other comments

Other Thoughts: You need to make a few tweaks to keep thos going strong. Registry changes that ssds need done since they work slightly differently than platter drives. Adatas site is useless but OCZ has a great tool that does it all for you. I have 2 of these in raid 0 in my desktop and one in my laptop. All work great still. Just do some research
