5 out of 5 eggsFollow Up On Last Review

Pros: Capacity
Price
Speed

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I previously wrote a review about this card and gave it a 2 egg review. I stand corrected as it appears the Edimax IP camera is causing the problems with the SD Card.

I purchased a new SD Card - another brand - and the same thing happened. The Edimax camera started freezing with the new SD Card after about 2 weeks.

I reformatted this ADATA SD Card and use it in a camera and printer. I am also using it for a backup storage of pictures and music. The card has been functioning well for the past several weeks and the speed is okay - not great - but a lot better than it was before I reformatted..

The SD card it gets hot - about as hot as the bottom of a laptop -- when I mount it in the IP Camera. Now I cannot even read the new SD card in a USB reader.

So, I believe there is a serious problem with the firmware of the Edimax camera. The good thing I can say about the ADATA SD Card is that I was able to recover it after the IP Camera made it unreadable. The new, other brand card, appears to be toast.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine with Raspberry Pi

Pros: Excellent price
Stable in RPi platform
Faster writes than the class 4 memory I used prior

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I ran into power troubles with some class 4 micro SD/adapter 4G cards in my Raspberry Pi (not the memory's fault; I shouldn't have tried to run my WiFi interface directly on the Pi's USB port). Decided to upgrade to faster, larger memory. These cards work great with Raspbian and you can't beat the price.

1 out of 5 eggsExceptionally poor quality - prone to failure

Pros: Very cheap price

Cons: Poor quality control, prone to failure, even some of the replacements sent to me by ADATA have failed.

Other Thoughts: Over a year ago I had purchased a dozen 16 Gig ADATA SDHC cards, along with a half a dozen 8 Gig versions. Since that time, half of the 16 Gig cards have failed (and even 2 of the warranty replacements for those cards have failed). Of the 8 Gig versions, 2 have failed.

I treat memory with great care, realizing the micro solid state circuity involved. All of these cards (described above) failed without warning and as a result I've lost close to a 1000 images during a photo shoot. The cards were so corrupted that none of the images could be saved - even through an image recovery service.

In looking at these cards, the image data recovery services I used indicated that the cards had very poor quality control - in other words, you get what you pay for.

So if yours has worked out - good for you. But I've had enough failures to last a lifetime and I cannot recommend these A-Data cards at all. I've since turned to Transcend where I've had a high reliability rate.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable and FAST!

Pros: Great price, reliable and fast. I always choose ADATA cards and so far I have never had a problem with any of them.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I would love to see these cards come with small plastic storage holders for card protection (carrying).

4 out of 5 eggsMixed results.

Pros: Reliable, cost effective, never let me down.

Cons: Possibly quality control not as good as it used to be. Own 2 of these cards, one is awesome, the other a dog. The first card has a great read/write speed. The second reads well, 14 Mb/sec but the write speed is only 3Mbytes/sec. The difference in a Nikon DSLR is noticeable between the two. Have used the recommended programs to format and to verify the data transfer rates.
