5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for an HTPC

Pros: There really isn't too much to say. It's quick. I haven't put it under a real heavy load, mostly just booting into a minimal install of Windows XP or Mythbuntu, but it does that well. As soon as the BIOS splash screen is gone, I'm in the OS in <10 seconds.

I know it's sad that I have to say this, but I've had trouble with Sandforce based SSDs in the past, but I've had this drive for three months now, not even a hiccup.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've received this drive bundled with a Zotac Zbox HD04-U, and the two complement each other nicely. Since I'm using it as an HTPC and streaming most video either from one of the several major subscription based video streaming services (which apparently I cannot name) or from my NAS, it doesn't need a large internal drive. It needs a fast one. Considering how fast the system feels, even though it's based around an E-450, I believe the SP900 delivers.

4 out of 5 eggsFast, Reliable, Small.

Pros: I've yet to have an ADATA drive fail on me yet. my everyman Ubuntu LAMP Server is jamming away day by day, over 20 customers have ordered these on my recommendation, and I've yet to process RMA's on any of the ADATA Drives I've selected so far. Most of the environments I've installed these drives in have been on SATA 1/2 boards and the large majority of them have been deployed on end user laptops.

Cons: 60 gb of space is just enough room to wiggle your O/S and Applications into, but I still find myself waiting for prices to drop before I order any larger drives.

Other Thoughts: This drive is as nice as a Crucial M4 60gb.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected

Pros: This drive was considerably better than I expected. I got it mainly for storing OSes and programs, while using mechanical hard drives for games and large temporary files.

Considering how huge Windows 7/8 64 bit is and Windows' generally poor usage of SSDs (see OT), I didn't want to put Windows on the SSD and basically waste $20 worth of disk space of an OS I rarely use. 90% of the time I use Arch Linux, where I can boot in about 5 seconds in shut down in about 1 second - I spend more time waiting for POST than I do for booting. Since I have Windows and my games on a separate HDD, I can power off the drive to save power, reduce heat, and reduce noise.

I know the SandForce controller used to have problems but AFAIK, those have all been fixed in firmware updates.

Cons: Deleting/replacing files while using TRIM takes a bigger hit to performance than I expected. It takes noticeably longer to install updates on this SSD than it did with my old hard drive, though, installing new programs is considerably faster. However, very rarely am I in a serious rush to delete/replace files, so this is hardly a con. Also, the sticker over the screw seemed kinda dumb, though, 3 screws is obviously good enough to sturdily hold an un-moving device in place. If this drive was strictly intended for laptops then this wouldn't matter at all, but it came with a 3.5" bracket...

Other Thoughts: I happened to buy this the day a new firmware release came out. I doubt the update would've damaged my files but it's always nice to not have to make a clone of my drive for precautionary reasons.

As for those wondering what makes Windows so bad for SSDs (aside from being bloated), the problems are:
* hibernation files - mostly useless on an SSD
* indexing - can actually slow down file searches
* paging files - wears out the cells quicker; RAM is cheap
* fragmented files - defragmenting has little to no performance gain and will wear out cells quicker.
* Very little TRIM support with RAID.
* Unnecessary amount of hidden temporary files
* Prefetching/superfetching is relatively useless
* NTFS can overall perform worse on SSDs compared to filesystems of other OSes.
* Probably something else I'm not aware of

While many of these things can be disabled, it's a real time waster to fix all of this compared to something like linux where you add 1 word to a text file and you're all set.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Hard Drive

Pros: -fast
-easy to install
-significant boot time decreases

Cons: -little storage space (not a problem for me, but might be for some)

Other Thoughts: Revived an old laptop with this, which I am now using daily. I am able to get my old laptop from 2006 to boot Ubuntu 12.10 in 8 seconds! Overall just an essential upgrade if you would like to enhance your productivity by leaps and bounds.

5 out of 5 eggsNever going back

Pros: These things are absolutely fast! There is no denying the performance improvement, and the benefit of having SSD's. They are top of the line, incredibly fast devices. Your HDD is the slowest thing in your computer? Why not replace it with the fastest SSD you can get for under 100$.

-SSD Speed rated at 2.9 gigaBITS per second (not gigabytes) up from .8 gigabits per second.

-Boot time dropped from 37 seconds to 12.

-Load times in many games cut but an average of 20%

-Everything I do is noticeably faster, from opening the start menu, to watching a movie, to loading a game.

Cons: It's blue, my entire setup is blood red with a blue SSD bay adapter. Nothing paint can't fix, but still kind of annoying.

Other Thoughts: I have two of these in a RAID0 configuration, as of right now, I couldn't be running them any faster without a new motherboard. These things are wicked sick amounts of fast. I will never go back to HDD's for gaming, they are WAY to slow.
