4 out of 5 eggsAUE700-32G-CBK, works as advertised!

Pros: This sucker is FAST, true USB3 speeds.

(sequential writes)
SSD->USB3: ~90MB/sec.
USB3->SSD: ~195MB/sec

Came with a strap.

Cons: As should be suspected, the total size is 31.6 gb. That means, after partition data, it actually only holds ~29.3 GB data. This is a smaller storage space than many "ripped" bluray movie disc sizes.

It seems to run hot (also not surprising, given the data transfer rate).

Other Thoughts: Test done on a ASUS P8Z77-V LK with a i7-3770k CPU and Plextor M5s SSD. USB3 drivers from motherboard manufacturer were installed on windows 7.

This was just an impromptu eyeball test using windows resource monitor, equivalent to sequential file copying. I quickformatted the DashDrive to NTFS at the largest allocation unit size (64kb). (This may affect drive portability between machines.) I used two files whose total size was ~24.9GB.

Copy to USB3 stick limited to USB3 write speeds. I was getting a rough average 90MB/sec writes. (It took about 4 minutes to copy. I then deleted the SSD files.) Copy back to SSD was about twice as fast (since the SSD write speed is much faster than the stick, and the stick has double the read speed), about 195MB/sec writes.

Obviously, I have no idea how reliable this stick will be, nor will I be trying to run an OS off of it (or heavily use it). If the rebate comes through, I will have gotten this high performing USB3 stick for ~$20. Right now, I'm quite pleased with it.

1 out of 5 eggsNice while it lasted

Pros: When it worked, it seemed to work fine.

Cons: Completely failed after one week of intermittent usage.
I tried every disc utility I own trying to revive it but no luck.
For the price I expected it to last longer.

4 out of 5 eggsLike it so far

Pros: Device has a quality, premium feeling to it. The thickness is kept to a minimum with no compromise on build quality. The retractable connector is a plus. No caps to lose, nothing exposed to get damaged.

Cons: Pushing out the connector is harder than I expected. There seems to be a light resistance but it feels solid. One of the most sturdy-feeling retractable thumb drives I've seen.

Other Thoughts: Initial I/O has been just OK and I'm seeing only half the advertised write speed and only a fraction of the advertised read. The bottleneck can be anywhere on my machine at work. I'll update when I get home to my SSD.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Awesome drive. 32gb model was hitting between 180-200mb/sec read and around 80mb/sec write! This was all connected to a 3rd party PCIe USB card. Didn't expect that!

Cons: None noticed.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and convenient

Pros: As fast as advertised. I calculated read speeds at 199 MB/s and write speeds at 97.37 MB/s. (Methodology: I just did an informal benchmark on my MacBook Pro Retina mid-2012, using its USB 3.0 port, copying a 1.6 GB file from the internal SSD to the HFS+ formatted ADATA flash drive, and timing it with a stopwatch.)

The retractable design is also nice, so you never have to worry about losing your drive cap.

Cons: A very minor quibble (not enough to take an egg off,) but the plastic ring for attaching to your keyring isn't all that well designed, and it's not really possible to directly attach it to your keyring. The included lanyard also isn't design for that (it's more of a strap to hold on to it, I guess if you want to do that?), so you'll need to buy your own lanyard if you want to attach the drive to your keyring.

Other Thoughts: This works exactly as advertised. It's a flash drive, what more do you want?

5 out of 5 eggsFast, looks nice

Pros: This drive is fast. I got 199MB/s sequential read and 46MB/s sequential write in CrystalDiskMark on both 50MB and 1000MB tests.
The drive also looks nice, I think the outer body is metal, and it is grooved and grippy. Also, I like the quick flashing access light.

Cons: The port slides in and out via a small slider on the side and has quite a bit of resistance. Sometimes I need to pull or push on the end to help it slide in or out.

Other Thoughts: I got the 32GB for $24 after rebate. SOOOOO much faster than the USB 2.0 spec. I plugged the drive into a 2.0 port and got 33MB/s read and 30MB/s write.

5 out of 5 eggsTough to complain

Pros: looks good, slim, felt pretty tough, low price

Cons: you lose about 3GB to formatting (nature of the beast)
