This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Black/ Blue (AUV128-64G-RBE)

Pros: Does what it should, for a while.

Cons: Cra*s out in 6 months.

Other Thoughts: I've got 8 thumb drives, the oldest is an Apdata (5 years) I'll stick with them.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry that your UV128 is not working properly. Unfortunately, DOA does occur from time to time and that is why there is a warranty on our products that covers this issue. Please send it in for an RMA exchange and you will receive a working replacement. The ADATA RMA process is a simple and painless procedure. Please feel free to contact us directly.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Black/ Blue (AUV128-64G-RBE)

Pros: Uhh, this one worked for like 3 weeks.

Cons: Failed, just like the following:
2x UC340 64GBs FAILED
1x UV128/16GB FAILED
1x S102 FAILED

I have about 6 others I purchased for Black Friday at about the same time. I'm sure they are gonna fail too. Stay away from ADATA.

2 out of 5 eggsJust an OK product

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Black/ Blue (AUV128-64G-RBE)

Pros: All I can say is that they work, you can write to them and read the data and have proved to be reliable.

Cons: Very Slow in both read and write speeds, I wish that I had not bought the 64GB model because it is so slow that it is painful waiting for files to transfer to it.

Other Thoughts: I have a collection of these pen drives, from 8GB through the 64GB and I use them on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit as well as Linux Mint. I have not formally bench marked the performance of these drives however from my usage of these drives and looking at the write times that is provided by Windows I do not think that they are any faster than some older USB 2 pen drives. I would not be surprised that they just repackaged USB 2 drives in the USB 3 housing and packaging. If you buy them only get them when they are on sale at a steep discount.

1 out of 5 eggsFail

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Black/ Blue (AUV128-64G-RBE)

Pros: It did work once...

Cons: Copied data to the device, maybe 40Gb of stuff. Was able to access once, now the device is not recognized by any computer or either USB2 or USB3 - total loss.

Other Thoughts: Waste of money, device worked once, copied to, copied from; now the device is worthless.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective out of the Box & Rude Tech Support

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Black/ Blue (AUV128-64G-RBE)

Pros: Lifetime warranty - You're going to need it with this flash drive.

Cons: This flash drive was defective right out of the box. It would not work in any USB 3.0 port on multiple computers running Windows 7 and Windows 10. It would just keep connecting and disconnecting in a matter of seconds. It couldn't even stay connected long enough to even be able to open the drive. This was with trying it on desktops (plugged into motherboard ports and to case ports) and laptops. The only ports this thumb drive would connect to was just USB 2.0 ports, even though it is a USB 3.0 flash drive.

Tech support was unbelievably rude and arrogant on the phone when I called. I answered each of the tech's question in detail. He gave me a bunch of attitude and then really flipped out when I answered his question about the possibility of all the USB ports being bad on my computers. I said I had tried every port on multiple computers with this flash drive and multiple other flash drives. I said I only had issues with just this flash drive. He told me off when I said I used multiple drives from multiple companies to verify that the USB ports were functioning. He took issue with the fact that I mentioned other brands. Then he further went into a rant about whether or not I wanted his help in being able to get this flash drive RMA'd. I had to calm the tech down on the phone and explain to him that I was simply trying to answer all his questions in detail so that we could resolve the issue with the flash drive. He finally sent the RMA instructions. The tech's attitude was worse than the defective flash drive.

The warranty appears to only be valid for as long as the serial number that is etched into the bottom side of USB insert portion is legible. The warranty submission form requires that you submit the serial number and send it prior to getting an RMA approval. You may need to write down the serial number information to keep it safe if it ever wears off on the flash drive. Or better yet, don't by this flash drive to begin with.

Other Thoughts: It would have been one thing if this was just a rare failure or if ADATA didn't have such rude tech support, but from the reviews this appears to be a drive with a very high failure rate. Add to this the ridiculously argumentative tech support, and there is no way that I would ever do business with ADATA again. My only regret was not testing this drive within the return period, otherwise I would have just sent this right back for a refund.

I received the RMA instructions, but I have not filled out and submitted the RMA paperwork yet. So I don't know how good or bad their RMA process is.

Other than this flash drive, I have had multiple Corsair Voyager USB 2.0 & 3.0 flash drives and a couple of Patriot Supersonic Boost XT USB 3.0 flash drives. So far my favorite has been the Patriot Supersonic Boost XT. I really liked my Corsair Voyager USB 2.0 drives, but I have had a couple of defective Corsair Voyager USB 3.0 drives. I also had better performance with the Patriot USB 3.0 over the Corsair USB 3.0 flash drives on my systems. I also prefer the case on the Patriot Supersonic Boost XT since it has a cap holder, and the Corsair Voyager does not.

1 out of 5 eggsWent bad right away !

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Black/ Blue (AUV128-64G-RBE)

Pros: None

Cons: Not reliable

Other Thoughts: Once I received it, it was recognized in Windows 7. During file transfers started having problems and eventually it wasn't recognized in Windows 7 (just generic Removable Disk.. 0 bytes) !!!

Not a good experience with this ADATA flash disk ! My old ADATA 32 gb still works (not retractable).

Requesting refund from Newegg (will lose some money I know...but don't wanna deal with Adata RMA) !

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Black/ Blue (AUV128-64G-RBE)

Pros: None

Cons: It has been 10 days since I ordered this item and I still don't have it. So much for DHL and USPS shipping. I should have ordered a jump drive from someone with much better shipping.

1 out of 5 eggsFirst Disappointment

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Black/ Blue (AUV128-64G-RBE)

Pros: Construction

Cons: Only worked for a couple uses. Surprisingly, dead since. Windows cannot acknowledge drive, tried on several devices.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Black/ Blue (AUV128-64G-RBE)

Pros: Fast USB 3.0 connection, great value (Thank you E-Blasts).

Solid slider mechanism. You can easily extend the drive one-handed and then push it into the USB slot by the case.

Easy RMA process. When the first drive started glitching out after a few months of very heavy use, they RMAed it quickly and easily. The second one is still going strong even after a trip through the washing machine.

Cons: Getting fine sand out of the slider case is very difficult.

The serial number is etched onto the bottom of the USB plug. It will fade with use. Write it down when you get the drive or you may not be able to read it if you have to RMA it.

My second drive sometimes fails to mount properly, but there has been no data loss or slow down. Considering how heavily I use it and that it has survived a full wash and tumble dry, I am not very dissapointed.

Other Thoughts: I was hesitant to knock off an egg, but the drive longevity has not been as good as I would expect from this generation of flash memory.
