4 out of 5 eggsGreat performance for the price. Potential to be the best bang for your buck.

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Yellow/Black (AUV128-64G-RBY)

Pros: Surprisingly, this drive outperformed the more expensive name brands such as the Corsair Voyager 3.0. It's definitely a lot faster than the advertised 40/20 speed. I guess it all depends on your pc and if you are transferring from an SSD. But the inexpensive price is definitely a plus. I've also bought ADATA brand because my warranty experience with them was pretty good. Quick turn around. I knew that if this product died, they would replace it hassle free. Save your receipt and register if you want LIFETIME warranty.

Cons: I bought this mainly to put movies and play from my TV. But after few hours of movie watching, this drive got pretty warm. I think this drive is better for just file transfer use and not for frequent reading/writing. That may explain the reliability that others are complaining about. Since the plug connection is not protected (it's a slider) you have to make sure you keep this drive in a clean place to prevent junk from going in the plug. Lastly, the body is made out of thin plastic and this can be cracked/crushed easily. If you press firmly with your fingers, you can hear the body crackling. But don't forget how much you paid for this.

Other Thoughts: This drive is surprisingly cheap for the performance you get. I think it will outlive the $17 you paid for because this drive has a lifetime warranty.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome deal for the right purpose.

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Yellow/Black (AUV128-64G-RBY)

Pros: Inexpensive.
Works great for my intended use.
Really does reduce the amount of fingerprints it collects(except for behind the slider button, which is glossy)
Unexpectedly fast. Reads are coming in at 210mb/s and writes at 95mb/s on USB3. This is testing and actual use with large files.

Cons: I don't trust it. It gets so hot that I would definitely not put any sensitive and irreplaceable data on it - not even for a moment.
Writing small files is a slower process than I'd like, but that's not why I bought this.

Other Thoughts: I'm using this flash drive to install operating systems from images and from BIOS/UEFI and it's been working great for that purpose. This drive seems to excel in working with large files and I've been pretty happy with it. I've only owned it for 2 days now but I've easily moved a good terabyte of data on and off of it without failure. I paid such a low price that it's easily earned itself a 5 egg rating.

It heats up so much that it's even pretty warm just plugged in idle for 10 minutes. If you want this thing to last, don't leave it plugged in.

5 out of 5 eggsWORKS GREAT

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Yellow/Black (AUV128-64G-RBY)

Pros: CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP (INEXPENSIVE)...I got this on sale for about half off (hope you are that lucky) It reads and writes as fast or maybe a little faster than the advertised specs call for. I am combining the data from multiple machines to my new windows 10 PC (1 TB HHD), and since Microsoft got rid of "Easy Transfer" (Just what are those folks from Redmond WA thinking?) I had to resort to the old fashion method of "dragging" to and from the flash drive. After reading some of the reviews I fretted that this was going to fail or catch on fire or something awful, but I drug about 50 gig from one machine in just several minutes (wish I would have timed it to give you a more accurate description...sorry) from a USB 2.0 port then transferred them even faster to a USB 3.0 port on my new PC. In total I moved about 140 Gig from four older machines to my new one without a hitch. So all in all this works GREAT, and I love the capless drives ( I have lost way too many caps).

Cons: I didn't have any problems, but I did notice it was a little warmer than some of my small thumb drives got.

Other Thoughts: I would definitely recommend this. Excuse me for sounding old,but when I first started doing graphics on Sun Micro Systems (you old guys may know what I am talking about) we payed several thousand dollars for a one gig upgrade (and it wasn't small or easy to install) to our servers, so I am still astounded that thumb drives can hold so much for such a little price. You young guys/gals should respect us old IT's who had to use reels and reels of 9 track mag tapes (Google it) to save/transfer data.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk! Don't buy any ADATA products.

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Yellow/Black (AUV128-64G-RBY)

Pros: Zero.

Cons: A waste of money.

Other Thoughts: Get Toshiba, Kingston or other quality products.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't last long

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Yellow/Black (AUV128-64G-RBY)

Pros: It was fast

Cons: Constant problems "recognizing." Just copied files to it, ejected it, put it in another pc and couldn't be recognized. This used to be fixable by trying again, but now, nothing. No PCs will "recognize" the USB device. It's totally dead.

1 out of 5 eggsOn/Off

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Yellow/Black (AUV128-64G-RBY)

Pros: No problems until recently. Now, the computers recognize it and then it disappears. Extremely hot when plugged in and not accessed.
Inexpensive.

Cons: Doesn't work.
Is not reliable.

Other Thoughts: I would not trust this drive as a backup or, for a clone.
Not worth the aggravation

2 out of 5 eggsIt worked great...until it didn't

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Yellow/Black (AUV128-64G-RBY)

Pros: USB 3.0. It was fast. Good amount of storage for the price.

Cons: Without any indication of an impending failure, it just up and died. No computer recognizes it anymore. I had it about a year when it failed.

Other Thoughts: I'm wondering if a connection just let loose inside this thing...or perhaps a cold solder joint. I have nothing to lose by prying it open and taking a look.

1 out of 5 eggsMixed Results

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Yellow/Black (AUV128-64G-RBY)

Pros: None in particular.

Cons: Mixed results - sometimes operates as hoped, sometimes not. It works consistently with most of my machines but consistently causes one to hang, particularly during boot, sometimes triggering a POST "over-current" warning. Only this stick exhibits issues with this particular machine, which otherwise plays well with peripherals. I wouldn't purchase this stick based on my experience.

The complete absence of any sort of activity LED is disadvantageous.

Other Thoughts: In fairness I have not yet given ADATA a chance to make good on the lifetime warranty.

1 out of 5 eggsDrive Interface Failure

This review is from: ADATA UV128 64 GB High-Speed USB 3.0 Capless USB Flash Drive, Yellow/Black (AUV128-64G-RBY)

Pros: Drive seemed to work fine. I copied the files I needed to it and placed it in a safe place (a safe deposit box).

Cons: Drive failed within 10 months (more like the 2nd or 3rd time I tried to copy files to it). The interface on the drive will no longer identify what it is to the PCI to Host Controller. I have tried disabling and reinstalling device drivers, without success. This seemed like a decent product - but it needs to be able to withstand sitting in a safe deposit box for a while and still work. Alias, I lost my files on this device - thank goodness for backups, and cannot re-activate the drive.

Other Thoughts: The UV128 model number, is a 64 GB drive. That's just a little bit too close for me, and originally when I ordered I thought it was a slow 128 Gig USB drive, because I read through it too fast. Be careful and read slowly.

Good price
