4 out of 5 eggsBad Stick, Good Warranty

Pros: Great look, and picked up right away by PC. Considering that 1 of the 2 sticks failed (and I didn't look until recently into the lifetime warranty), the other stick has carried the load in great form, never had a problem. Warranty process seems quick and painless so far, guess we will see how they finish it up at this point. If the warranty process is good for replacing this peice, I plan on upgrading and will probably go wit the same part# to simply double my RAM.

Cons: Haven't had any issues personally other than the bead stick, but like everyone says, it happens.

Other Thoughts: Buying through Newegg makes it easy to keep track of all the pertinent purchase data to fill out the RMA form accurately.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: been runninig for a few years now. it was 100 bucks back then. will use patriot agan.

Cons: a little finniky but made voltage ajustments no biggie

Other Thoughts: seen were another reviewer stated that 1.8 volts is what worked for him as that is the voltage i found to work with mine at that voltage setting it runs smooth as slilk no issues so go in bios and play around a little and see if its got a sweet spot 1.8 done it for mine .

1 out of 5 eggsVery Disappointed in Patriot on This Model

Pros: Usually, Patriot memory is a good purchase decision on a price-performance basis. See "other thoughts" for further explanation. Given the fact that I've deployed plenty of Patriot RAM that has run just fine, I will undoubtedly continue to buy/deploy this brand... unless I experience even more failures in future purchases.

Cons: Bought 10 pieces of this specific model RAM within a month time frame. 2 DOA, 4 fail after 15 minutes of runtime (hangs or BSOD computer.) Confirmed it is the RAM via repeated testing.

Other Thoughts: I have bought numerous pieces of Patriot RAM (amongst other brands) over the years as an IT support professional, both desktop and laptop (but never for servers, I always use RAM sold/certified by the server's manufacturer as a matter of policy.)

Interestingly, 4 of the 10 sticks we received were singled-sided (obviously a different chip density, even though the model number is identical on them.) The single-sided sticks were the only ones to not fail. All double-sided RAM of this model either were DOA or fail within minutes of booting. Destructive inspection showed poor surface mount soldering, some chips having "dry" solder pads.

Not worth my time to RMA and pay shipping/restocking for such a relatively low cost item (so Mr. Patriot, don't bother to comment about what I should do.) If it weren't for the fact I want to alert others about this specific model of Patriot RAM, it isn't even worth my time to write this review.

2 out of 5 eggsRam Doesn't Meet Expectations

Pros: Looks good.

Cons: I bought this to dual-channel my remaining two slots, the previous holding 2x2GB of Patriot Ram. Instead of getting the Ram with the heatsink shown on the pictures here, which matched the ones I already own, I got the anniversary Ram. That was the first disappointment. The second was that the 1GB sticks aren't compatible with the 2GB sticks thanks to an automatic optimizing feature on my motherboard not being able to handle 5-5-5-12 and 4-4-4-12. And finally, the 1GB sticks are not dual-channel compatible with my motherboard's optimizing feature. So, this expensive motherboard actually rejected what I thought was decent Ram.

Other Thoughts: I gave it 2 eggs because until recently, I was very happy with Patriot's Ram.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Please don't hesitate to contact to troubleshoot any issues you may have. For this line, we've replaced our Bladed Heatshields with our Blue Edition Signature Heatshields. Please rest assured that the specs should be the exact same thing.

As far as setup, since a voltage increase is required to reach these specs we program these to boot up to boot up at more relaxed timings. Please don't hesitate to contact us for for setup assistance.

Thank You for choosing Patriot Memory!

4 out of 5 eggsWrong Description

Pros: Big, matched,fast

Cons: Is 2.1V, not 2.2V as described. Incompatible with my existing Ballistix memory except at standard JEDEC 1.8V

I could have bought cheaper memory if I hadn't been lead to beleive this was 2.2V memory

Other Thoughts: Good luck with this brand in the past, runs fine at standard settings and the extra potential means it's not running at the edge at standard settings. One egg off for the false description.

5 out of 5 eggsLifetime Warranty

Pros: I purchased this memory three years ago, and just recently one of the two sticks went bad on me. I thought; well let’s see if it really does have a lifetime warranty. I went through the RMA process online. The entire process is online. You don't call anyone. I sent them an e-mail describing the problem. They sent me a reply with a link to a form. I filled out the form, and then they sent me a RMA number. The whole process was simple and fairly quick. At no time did I have to convince someone that it wasn't some other issue causing the problem.

They had me send both sticks back, even though only one was bad. I just received my replacement ram. The new ram is running fine. I believe the whole process from first e-mail to new ram took about two weeks. It is nice to know that even after three years they are still standing by their product.

Cons: The con is that it went bad in the first place, but a percentage of ram always does if you give it enough time.

Other Thoughts: On a final note. I purchased the ram through Newegg which is an authorized reseller, so that wasn't an issue.

1 out of 5 eggsPatriot might out of business or they mislead consumers

Pros: Bought over 250 pieces from newegg and other resellers based on Intel reference

Cons: some of my customers complained to me the Patriot dishonor to their lifetime warranty term. Whoever I sold to cannot get the warranty service because I am not an authorized reseller. What is the purpose of lifetime warranty? To protect endusers investment and get service from defective products!

Other Thoughts: I used only buy and sell Crucial and Kingston because both of them have great warranty service that just a phone call away for all endusers. But Patriot completely destroyed the rule of LIFETIME WARRANTY in the industry. A brand need to build reputation not just from their products but service too. Patriot is way behind other industry leaders and I am really worry they will out of business soon if this is their policy. Newegg should caution people who buy Patriot memory about this issue at very beginning or at least included in specification session.

*I will give 4 star to their products but 1 star is what they desire for.
