With an easy-to-install design and responsive 800MHz processing speed, expect blazing performance out of this jet-black pair of memory sticks.
Part of Patriot’s Extreme Performance Series, the kit is qualified on both Intel- and AMD-based systems. Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: I have purchased Patriot Memory three times. This was the last purchase, around 3 months ago when it cost nearly two and a half Ben Franklins. All of the Patriot memory modules that I have purchased have run well without any problems, including these. I am able to OC to 1000MHz, stable 5-5-5-12 or use at 800 4-4-4-12.
Cons: All three sets of RAM from Patriot offered rebates (fifty, forty and fifty). I never received a single rebate check from them. Each time I wrote a review and complained about that, NE did not print the review. Hmmmmm. Wonder if they will print this one.
Other Thoughts: Patriot definitely makes a good product. The first Patriot RAM I purchased must have been two years ago (PC3200 2-3-2-5) that is still going strong. If the rebate factors into your decision making process, then make sure that you are willing to pay whatever the non-rebate price is before you buy.

Great Memory Very OC Friendly

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: The Pros:
Very speed friendly - chose to run them at agressive 4-4-4-12 settings at PC2 6400 settings or 5-5-5-15 settings at PC2 8500 settings. I am running 4 sticks (4GB total) at 475Mhz (950Mhz fsb) on a Gigabyte P35 board with an C2D E6320 cpu at 5-5-5-15 settings. Very solid performer.
Very nice packaging - runs cool to the touch and at 2.2 volts
Most of the sticks include the legendary Micron D9 chips - Micron D9GMH(B6-3), Micron D9DQW(BT-37E), and Micron D9DQT(BT-3)chips although a few do have the Elpida AG-6E-E. Just hope for the best.
Cons: The Cons:
I think that the PC2 8500 memory is dropping in price so it may pose a challenge in pricing. This is still very solid memory and a bargain with a good rebate option. Heck, save the $$ and get 4 sticks (4GB) to run your new Vista Ultimate 64-bit install like I did.
Other Thoughts: For a Vista system these days - 4 GBs is almost a given. Don't skimp on memory - well worth the investment with a well known brand like Patriot.

Pros: no pros about memory that arrives DOA. now i have to pay to ship it back and wait to get a replacement.... thanks Patriot - your lack of quality control has now cost me another $10 shipping. I should have stuck with my usual choice (begins with C and ends with air). it always works.
We are sorry for the fact that your memory arrived DOA. Please rest assured that each memory is hand-tested, furthermore our quality control and shipping departments take all precautions to make sure our products are great quality items. It's not uncommon to see that sometimes the memory can get damaged in transit. Please do not hesitate to contact support@patriotmem.com fore any assistance.
Thank You for choosing Patriot Memory.

Good stuff

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: I just bought 2GB more as the mem I bought almost a year ago is still truck‘in. Sure has dropped in price in the last 11 months.
Cons: It does run awful hot. To the point where I can't keep my fingers on it. Make sure you have good airflow if you are filling up all the mem slots as the large heat sinks will almost touch together.
Other Thoughts: My MOBO maxes out at 2vdc vice the 2.2. If that is your case then run at 5-5-5-15 not 4-4-4-12. If you try to run at the latter it will lock up and then you have to reset your BIOS and start over with the settings.

Best of Its Class (and Patriot Deals With RMAs Swiftly)

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: more than 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: I first bought this bundle more than two years ago. The sticks have served me well throughout this time, proving quite capable of playing recent titles such as Fallout 3 with minimal trouble.
Cons: None immediately spring to mind, other then the fact that these sticks seem a little to closely spaced when set adjacent to each other in the motherboard. This seems like it might be courterproductive to dispersing heat, which may explain why one of mine went bad (see below).
By the way, not really much of a con, but for some reason you may need to manually set the memory timings within your bias to force sticks to actually run at its rated timings of 4-4-4-12.
Other Thoughts: The reason I write this review now is one of my ram sticks recently died on me. I was experiencing some unusual errors while playing games for quite a while, and a recent glitch with AVG antivirus involving stealing program focus might have finally pushed it over the edge. I ran Memtest, and surely enough the mem stick was completely done for. Things like this happen eventually so I really don't blame Patriot for it.
Since my warrenty with Newegg had long expired, I contacted Patrot Memory directly. They were quite cooperative once I explained the problem. It only took a day or so for me to get an RMA number so I could sent the stick in for replacement.
I'm currently waiting for that replacement to arrive. In the mean time, I ordered another set of sticks so that I will have a set a four. It seems like games and background programs hog more and more ram these days, so 1 or even 2 GB is no longer enough.
All in all, I've been very satisfied with Patriot Memory.
