An OLD WORKHORSE - Patriot 2 GB DDR2 800 1.8V Kit

Tech Level: high - Ownership: more than 1 year

Pros: * Very dependable at stock 1.8 voltage.

* EggCLnt Value ;>)

* Lifetime Warranty

Cons: Low tolerance for overclocking.

Other Thoughts: Used this same RAM since 2006 in numerous builds. Very stable at stock VCore settings of 1.8.

Good memory, good support

Pros: I have purchased this and other Patriot memory with all very good results. Patriot is a good name in memory, despite what you may be thinking of it being "cheap".

Cons: The only con I have is I purchased this two kits of this memory in January (2009) and one stick went bad back in June (RMA'd and replaced by Patriot) and now another has gone bad. Possibly the companion stick to the original bad RAM, possibly the stick sent as the replacement in the RMA. Not 100% sure.

Other Thoughts: I plan on submitting a new RMA on the second bad stick. I can say nothing but positive things about Patriot's RMA process. It is an inconvenience to have bad sticks of memory at any time, but they do make good on the lifetime warranty.

I believe the pair and/or the stick sent back was faulty so I plan on sending back the pair and getting a replacement pair to hopefully get rid of the problem. I would still buy Patriot memory again because this is the only bad experience I have had from their memory and their support is exceptional.

Small upgrade

Pros: Not a big upgrade, but all the Mobo would allow. This got me over a minor bump with some tired memory. I cannot say enough for Newegg, they are the best. I have not one bad experience in all I've purchased.
